Tambour Beading

This is known as 'tambour beading', done with a tambour hook, of which I have 2 or 3. I, too, practiced this on net so that I could see the stitching, since technically these beads are 'single-crocheted' to the background fabric. There are many YouTube videos of the french wire or gimp being sewn the same way, but I have never found a hook fine enough to fit inside the wire (the hole in sequins and beads is rather large by comparison). Almost every bugle-beaded or sequinned dress you have ever seen is hand- stitched like this (fabric flat in a hoop or frame) before the dress is sewn together. Embellishing a garment that is already constructed (like what I am doing with the bling on my wizard - post construction) takes a lot more time since I have to hoop or stitch around elements that are already in place.
All of the blinging you have seen me do so far was done one bead at a time with beading needles and beading thread. This makes it very labor-intensive, whereas using a tambour hook on flat, stretched fabric can be done very quickly with experience.
