I have the privilege of being invited to lecture on Apolinario Mabini’s ideas on Federalism at Mabini’s hometown itself, in Tanauan, Batangas. Even in my preparation for the lecture, I am still surprised of the discoveries I’m making. Mabini is a great political thinker and much of his political ideas on representation, and the overall structure of government, are still relevant in our time.
The museum curator, Ms. Olga Rizal, tells me that my audience would be those in the local government. Hoping that I would impart clarity and a sense of history with the present discourse on Federalism, in all its implications to Filipinos.
