TJ manages to avoid Andy for a month before the older man tracks him down without Dougie, Anne or his parents around. They circled the wagons when they found out about his relationship with Andy and of Andy's wife. For once in his life, TJ was grateful for their overprotectiveness. However, Andy still finds a way to see him without his protectors. He tells him he divorced his wife years ago. The paparazzi lied about them still being married. He says he loves TJ. He sounds like he means it.

😭😭😭😭😭😭 but why would they lie about Andy still being married !!! I need to know! and he said the L word 🙈🙈🙈🙈💞💕💖❤️️

TJ has a meeting with Andy (his lawyer) to discuss a case and he didn’t expect he’d run into the case itself ....

so I finally read chapter 2 of Beyond a Reasonable Doubt and this post was inspired by it 🙈 (and ps: that’s Andy’s assistant 😂 he’s not married in this universe)

He shouldn't be here. He should be home. He raises his hand to knock on a very forbidden door. The door opens & TJ doesn't seem surprised to see him standing there. He can't speak but TJ understands anyway & allows him inside. They stare at each other before Andy surges forward & pulls the younger man in for a kiss that starts off sweet and gentle then morphs into tongue and teeth and bruising fingers. He can't stop & TJ doesn't seem to mind, holding him just as tightly. He can't stop. He won't.

He thought watching TJ dancing was a religious experience, but he was wrong. Seeing TJ play the piano, his eyes closed while his fingers dance over the keys, a contented smile on his face - nothing on this Earth could've prepared Andy for a truly relaxed TJ Hammond. Douglas & Anne dance a waltz to whatever TJ's playing. (He's not a classical music fan, okay?) Other guests follow their lead & dance while the room quiets in response to the rare sight in front of them. TJ smiles at him & he melts.

2/3 A kiss, a pseudo-private concert, ignoring the hundred other guests at the party, TJ’s gaze would find his whenever he opened his eyes & he would give the sweetest smile Andy has ever seen on someone in their 30s to him. It takes everything in him not to stride forward & pull the younger man in for a kiss in front of his powerful family & the wealthy and connected party guests. Desire & caution wage a silent war in his body but common sense fights its way through & he stays put. He smiles back.

3/3 TJ is smiling at him, an almost sultry smirk from the corner of the room. Douglas by his side as always, actually laughing with genuine abandon, a rare sight indeed, and TJ’s coquettish smile turns soft when he looks at his brother. They whisper to each other & break out in more laughter, their mother turns in their direction, a frown on her face that is replaced by fondness. Another sign that the Hammond-Barrish family is healing. TJ looks back to Andy, those stormy eyes piercing and promising.

Andy returns to TJ again and again; addicted to the younger man's taste and touch, the way he moans at Andy's strength, giving up control easily. Those stormy eyes stare up at him as if he was the key to the Universe, and those talented fingers cling to Andy as if he'll never let him go. Their kisses start off soft and gentle but quickly escalate to possessive and claiming. Their clothes disappear, losing themselves in touch-starved whimpers & moans while Andy whispers promises into pliant skin.

2/2 TJ writes imaginary love letters on Andy's back, sealing them with a kiss. Happiness buzzes through his veins, his body aching pleasantly from their earlier activity. He feels content laying next to the older man, listening to him snoring softly, oddly domestic. He can get used to this. Not sleeping alone. Andy makes him feel safe & strong. Andy being w/him is proof he's no longer the Hammond fuck up. He's a good man, smart & kind & loving. TJ wants to tell Dougie, let him know about him & Andy.

Anne Hammond is fucking terrifying. Not as terrifying as Secretary Barrish, but holy shit is it close. Douglas must have said something to her about his apparently transparent feelings toward the former First Son because her glares are worse than her husband's. Her words sharp and biting under the polite veneer of small talk. Andy thought Anne didn't like TJ but that is quite quickly remedied during his meeting with the young political couple. The message is clear: Back off.

2/2 Okay, TJ can handle Dougie going all mother hen on him, but Anne, too? Plus their mother? Christ. It’s just a flirtation. Let him have some fun, dammit. It’s harmless and it won’t trigger any relapses. They’re overreacting really. One kiss, not that they know that, & several weeks worth of awkward flirting does not make a relationship. A bond maybe, but nothing deeper than that. Hell, he watched the older man dance w/this drop dead gorgeous woman & felt not a hint of jealousy. Not a bit. (Liar.)
