🪐 Space Ranger, Mira Nova 💥💫
“...Mira and her sister Stella snickered at the portrait, their father scowling at them.
“No matter how many times I’ve seen it, your terrified expression never gets old father!” Mira laughed
“You would be terrified too!” King Nova nagged,” I became a new father and King in a matter of a few weeks, it was a lot to handle all at once!”
“ Mother seems fine,” Stella added in, her snickering continuing,” and she had just had Mira right before”
“ Your mother could handle things a lot better than I could,” he paused, a sad expression coming over him as he admired the sweet face of his late wife,”..she was a lot stronger than me.”....

I have drawn Mira’s mother before, like two years ago (DAMN)
for people new to her, this is Queen Aria, she is Mira’s mother and she passed away when Mira is about 8-9 years old. She was Murdered, however since her death King Nova and Mira have always thought she died of a sickness, that is till Mira finds out the truth with in the story this picture would be based in (I gotta write it)
I think this is also the first time i mention Mira has sisters, yes sisters with an S, she has three. Also a new HC of mine while drawing this up, the broach king Nova wears in the show is actually Aria’s! That’s why he’s not wearing it here but Aria is.
( also it’s amazing how much younger king nova looks without facial hair XDD)
trying to get around to rewatching Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. I had a thought at work today. Several thoughts, actually:
Mira Nova has a lot more guts being a Space Ranger than we give her credit for.
It’s mostly because she’s a Tangean. Being Tangean (blueblood) is a problem because TANGEAN. POWERS. ARE. TERRIFYING. Solid walls cannot hold them. They can move through any material, no breaking stuff, no locks, they can break in anywhere and steal anything. Break inside of any computer or engine or other piece of tech and they can damage it. They’re unstoppable.
And that’s just their regular ghosting powers. Their mind powers? They can stick their hands in your brain and retrieve whatever information they want. Just a casual “brain squeeze” will put you to sleep. If they’re not careful, your brain could be damaged, permanently. And some bluebloods develop their powers to the point where they can even alter your thoughts or your state of mind and make you do whatever they want you to.
And let me mention the Grounders briefly: most of what they can do (from what I recall) is blow things up with their heads. The effect is neutralized in the presence of bluebloods, but out and about in the galaxy they can wreak havoc.
At least from what we see of the Tangean royal palace, Tangean bluebloods can walk through anything, so their buildings have walls but no doors. People of different species can’t come visit without their hosts making serious accommodations. That means they don’t get a lot of visitors. If you’ve seen “First Missions,” there’s a hint that Tangea wasn’t even formally part of the Galactic Alliance until Buzz Lightyear persuaded King Nova--and that only after a Zurg invasion. So Tangea is a planet of stuck-up bluebloods who due to their social isolation think that they are better than other species because of their gifts, and because of the bluebloods isolating themselves and keeping out the rest of the galaxy the grounders are poorer and less educated.
So by the time of King Nova’s reign, Tangeans are mistrusted and feared throughout the galaxy, the grounders obviously for their savagery, but the bluebloods for their rudeness and their ability to just take whatever they want. Most of the grounders we see outside of Tangea (Romac included, and I think there’s at least one other episode where a couple make an appearance and cause some trouble) are criminals. Most bluebloods don’t leave the planet, but if they do, it’s easy to picture them turning to crime as well. Because, as I said above, they can pass through solid material, they can also manipulate the brains of other sentients at will. They are seen as dangerous outsiders. Sometimes out on various missions Mira will run into Tangean-proofed materials or end up in places with special security measures. That leads me to believe that there are enough Tangean bluebloods out and about causing trouble that other peoples in the galaxy see them as a threat.
So Mira Nova joins Star Command. This is actually huge. Space rangers take an oath to serve and protect the people of the galaxy, which means she will be putting her powers to use to do so, only using them to do her job and not cause problems. But Buzz asks Mira frequently to use her powers to get information, and she only has to stretch her hand out and whoever they are trying to probe gets nervous.
The second issue for Mira, of course, is that she is a princess. But this point actually ties in strongly to the first one. It’s not just because stereotypical princesses are seen as pushovers or weak. Mira is the daughter of the Tangean king, so her actions are going to reflect on her father, her planet, and her people. No pressure, right? People aren’t going to want to trust her or like working with her. Her dad of course doesn’t like what she’s doing. There are probably people in the Tangean royal court who also do not approve of her choice to enter Star Command.
Commander Nebula and Buzz Lightyear think she’s great because she’s good at her job as a space ranger. And being a princess, and probably 18 or 19 when she joins Star Command, she’s still figuring out a lot about life and learning how to live like a civilian, she makes mistakes and doesn’t do everything perfectly. Being a Space Ranger is a position under a lot of public scrutiny, Star Command is responsible for the safety of the general public of the galaxy, and rangers occasionally spend time with high-ranking officials such as the Galactic President. It can’t be easy for her. It’s not an easy place to be for anyone, balancing a lot of expectations, breaking stereotypes, and do it all knowing the rest of the galaxy will be judging your performance.
Lucky for Mira, she’s got a thick skin and she doesn’t take crap from anyone.
Normally I say Mira doesn’t get married (more or less because of the whole princess thing) how ever I had found pretty dresses and needed to draw one LOL
Also gonna blame Hamilton for this too...

I never expected my novel to include a bird dojo but here I am and there it is
When the van rolls right in front of us, I can see into the open windows. Actually, more like broken windows. I could see the jagged remains where the windows should be. I notice there’s a lot of people in the car. It seems like it’s holding more people than there are seats in it, and a lot more guns, too…
Tangea
“Out of all the bad times you have come over, this has got to be the worst one. There are active KILLERS out there, Tangea, and if you try coming her you’ll just be put into danger. Tangea, please just stay there.” Little does she know I already put on my warm sweatpants and coat and I’m collecting my backpack as we speak.
