[INFO] N*White: The Way Things Are Now...
[Note: I intended to share this information with all of you earlier, but I was waiting to see if J&J Ent. were going to issue an official announcement, before I posted. It seems very unlikely that we’ll get a statement, now... since fans who have visited the fancafe, in the past week, have already been able to find out. The timing of this “announcement” is very unfortunate (with Soohyun and Hakyung’s birthdays happening, just recently)... But at this point, I felt like it wouldn’t be fair to withhold the news any longer >_< As international N*White fans' main resource for updates, I sincerely apologize for the delay and keeping you in the dark.]
It is with a heavy heart that I must, and am finally able to, tell you:
Soohyun is no longer a member of N*White.
As many of you have noticed, Soohyun was not present for the few activities N*White have had (i.e. 151120 Sbenu event, 160111 'Moorim School' appearance), and hasn't been as active on Instagram/the fancafe as she previously was, over the last several months (Soohyun has, however, recently resumed using Instagram). I received several messages from various people, filled with genuine concern, asking: ‘Where is Soohyun?’ ‘What happened to her?’ ‘Is Soohyun still a member?’, and so on.
Honestly, I couldn't help but grow worried about the situation, too... No group pictures, not even one mention of Soohyun in like 4 months? Okayyyy..? It all seemed familiarly forboding (like what happened when Lina left T^T), but I defiantly chalked it all up to the members just being busy with comeback preparations, non-serious illness, etc. Unaware of what was going on, the only reasonable response I could provide was: ‘Be patient and wait until we receive news from J&J Ent. or the members.’
Last week, I came across this post written by Jaewoo-nim (a longtime N*White K-fan who has been a great source of help) on 160120 with the title "믿고 싶지 않지만, 가슴이 너무 아프지만...." ("I Don't Want to Believe It, My Heart Hurts So Much..."), on N*White's fancafe. At that moment, I thought: ‘Oh my gosh... please don't tell me this is about what I think it is...’, and my heart began to sink...
Jaewoo-nim sensed how many fans were becoming concerned, so he directly contacted J&J Entertainment to inquire about the group's wherebouts (more specifically, Soohyun's apparent absence). N*White's manager confirmed Soohyun left the group.
[Sidenote: In the rest of his post, Jaewoo-nim discussed how he became a fan, his interactions with the members, and closes with a wishlist of sorts: winning 1st place on music shows, celebrating their birthdays with fans, holding fansignings/fanmeetings/ concerts, performing at the year-end Gayo festivals, etc. -- things Soohyun/Hakyung/Subin, sadly, never had the opportunity to accomplish , together... I legit started tearing up because it was so heartwarming to see how we, fans from across the world, shared the same (unfulfilled) hopes... T-T]
I asked Jaewoo-nim if he knew any more details about what happened, but he said he didn’t. Still in disbelief, I asked another reliable longtime, dedicated K-fan to seek further confirmation that the news was true. She told me she had actually been in contact with Soohyun, not long ago (initially, she was also unaware Soohyun had left, but after seeing Jaewoo-nim’s post, she reached out to Soohyun), and was able to find out a few more details. This is the information she revealed:
Soohyun left the group approximately 3 months ago due to 'company circumstances’
N*White still exists (presumably, as just Subin and Hakyung, at the moment), but ‘the company’s circumstances are really bad, right now’
It is not known what Soohyun’s future plans are.
The exact circumstances regarding Soohyun's withdrawal from N*White are unknown and what will become of N*White is unclear... Despite this uncertainty, I will continue to support each and every one of the members in their personal endeavors. Please continue to do so, as well!
Soohyun was a legit OG N*White member [I mean, she was even part of the early, original (?) trainee lineup, along with Lina/Yuna in 2012!] She eventually became the group’s leader/main vocal/maknae, and was also responsible for writing lyrics for almost every song N*White have released, thus far. Frankly, it will be very... different... not having her in the group, anymore :(
I hope that we can look on the past with fondness and continue to enjoy the music with which N*White has blessed us with ^^ Hopefully, one day, we’ll be able to see them together, again... For now, all we can do is just wait and see what happens and wish Subin, Hakyung, and Soohyun good luck!
