The Distance Between Us

Distance, oh why the distance

as promises drift far far apart

they sway, tilting out of balance

not too far, but closed to my heart

Doubts, distrust with renewed fears

juggling within, stirring up to the air

cold wind brings on the gushing tears

distant hills beckoning, plain and fair

Melodies fluctuating from high and low

according to the moods of the weather

clouds heavy, release the hold to callow

pull of distance snaps, no more together

Greater distance comes between us

triggering a desire in hope to teach

a rebuild of trust, with a will to refocus

a presence near, just out of my reach

When I Was Young

when I was young

I thought I was the only one

who had feelings and insight

of ups and downs

of fear and courage

of approaching doom

and of longing for peace within.

I felt there is another me

hiding somewhere

who knows everything

that I am experiencing

alone, I wandered about

in the woods,

at sunrise and sunset,

searching for the other part of me

by following its gentle persuasion,

its friendly beckoning,

in soft voices of lonesome melancholy,

as if to be in union,

closely together,

to share our common existence

In time, I begin to speak to it,

“Are you a boy or a girl?”

“It’s very hot today, don’t you think so?”

“Why am I feeling this way?

Is it your feeling or is it mine?”

It’s strange.

It cries when I am sad;

it rejoices when I am happy,

it follows me everywhere I go,

even in my dreams.

Then, one day, in a dream,

it begins to speak to me:

“John, I am your soul,

you are my spirit

I want to be with you

and to live in you

so we can be complete,

just as you long to be with me

to help make us one,

joined together, we are one

in perfect compatibility.

“You are Spirit, I am Soul

Male and Female, living together

You KNOW, for you are of the Spirit

I FEEL, for I EXPERIENCE what you feel

We must cooperate and unite,

because the Union

of Knowledge to Experience

produces Understanding,

and we will no longer be troubled

in the dark,

for Understanding

will soon

give birth to Truth.

Truth is a gift

and it is liberating

“If we can learn to live together

there will always be Peace

And Peace is divine.

Then we will know

what Love is

And then,

the Love grows,

and becomes everlasting

to give mercy and compassion.

Soon, we will arrive at the destination

but first, we must learn

to live together in Harmony

within our-selves,

before we can share it

with and to the world

so there will be

divine Peace

and everlasting Love.”

WHEN LOVERS MEET

When two lovers meet

Drifting into the sunset

Knees go soft, still feet

Arms encircled, eyes reset

The magic of a kiss

And the world stands still

Roses bloom in bliss

Interplay of hearts and will

While joy bring on the tears

Two souls in sweet surrender

No storm can e’er steer clear

Love overpowers him and her

GUESS WHO AM I

I am sea, I am sky

Down below, way up high

I’ve no wings but I can fly

I am outspoken, I am shy

Very brave, but I never try

I am true but I can lie

Very honest, but am a spy

Obedient, but I can defy

I am all these, who am I?

I drift among the stars

Looking for where you are

Every twinkle tells a tale

As wind chimes in a gale

🎼

Fly beyond, over the moon

Hard to face the afternoon

Half of the day has gone by

To be walking the night sky

🎶🎶

Oh! Where else can I show

I’ve been up high and below

Teach me the way I should go

O Love, to you I lift up my soul

🎼

Thousand dreams for reasons

I’ve been through the seasons

Smiles, beaches, fall and frost

To discover it is I, who am lost

A simple logic

No need to think

It’s no magic

White red or pink

Simple maths

‘Pies are square’

Mazed paths

Skin strips bare

Simple life

Brings fulfillment

Harakiri knife

Kills the moment

A simple way

Is an easy day

Afraid of nay

Sooner to clay

A simple quiz

Try to wiggle

Oh! Gee whiz!

AS I RECALL

As I recall

how we kiss goodnight

When shadows fall

And I hold you tight

Candle lights dinner

Just for two

Dancing, hugging manner

The whole night through

I wait daily at your front door

Oh! As usual, what a thrill

Just as it has been before

Then comes the winter chill

And whoosh! You are gone

A hopeful wait, till the sun frowns

In the treacherous wind, all alone

Till the lights go out, and I am down

What’s the secret of all your secrets?

There’s a revelation behind a mystery

A reality behind all you want to forget

With a past that is way beyond history

Why do you keep a secret?

For love or for awe?

Is it something you regret?

A debt that you owe?

Tell no one, and you are safe?

Protect a reputation, your self image?

Superficial small talk at a cafe

By codes in a book, a torn out page?

Do you have any self worth?

Something unique, a creme de la creme?

Speak out! And bring forth

That power, the dream within your dreams
