Yaas ➵ Tanri
I would hurt you or use you. | you unsettle me. | I dislike you or you annoy me. | I would like to get to know you better. | I pity you. | you confuse me. | I feel indifferent towards you. | I would be friends with you. | I would fight by your side. | I would hug you or hold your hand. | I would kiss you. | I would sleep with you. | I would lie for you. | I would protect you. | I would fall (possibly) in love with you. | I would kill for you | I respect you. | you are my family. | I don’t know you.
Tanrinin ஐ = slapping Yaas.
((I don’t think I have any good screenshots of our two Dranei! D: ))
Pain wasn’t a thing unfamiliar to Yaas, but she had never expected it coming from Tanrinin. Tanri’s thin hand couldn’t hit very hard, her arms short and skinny, but the strike still felt hot on Yaas’ skin and cold in the layers of criss-crossing scars the ran from her broken right horn, across her eye and lips, all the way to her chin. The sensation flowed through the scars like ice spreading through a stream.
Yaas snapped her gaze down to Tanrin, eyes wide with instinctive challenge. The chill from the slap eddied with the heat on Yaas’ skin and throat, a kiln in her chest billowing. “Oh, did I say something that bugged you?” She stepped into the Tanri’s personal space. Yaas was so much taller than Tanrinin, so visibly stronger, and she didn’t hesitate to use that, stomping her hoof right against Tanri’s hoof. “Did you want an apology? Or did you just want to get fucked?”
Yaas felt her knee slam into Tanrinin before she felt her leg moving. She couldn’t sense the cold in her scars anymore. Heat had surged into her muscles. Yaas hadn’t even thought about escalating the conflict, and truthfully wasn’t even sure why Tanrinin had struck her. She wanted to understand, more than she wanted to hurt the woman, but that wasn’t the action she had taken.
Okay, I got one! Thoughts on Tanrinin?
Less a backstory theory and more a world-construction theory: if the Light really is personally invested in the lives of the Draenei and Tanrinin really is devout, I wonder if the Light might be subtly nudging her actions sometimes. I’m not sure how much self-doubt Tanrinin feels, but the Light still responds to her call, even after helping Yaas get away with murder on multiple occasions.
Not wanting to disappoint, I also wonder about Tanri’s psychological state before running off with Yaas. I don’t think anyone is going to say that was a sensible thing to do. Yaas and tanri knew eachother well enough to call eachother friends, and there was some attraction there, but they weren’t close and Yaas was well off the deep end. It can’t be stockholm syndrome because Yaas never kidnapped Tanri. Tanrinin forced her companionship on Yaas.
Pretty much I think that Tanri got some real diagnosable psychological disorder from the fall of Draenor and crash of the Exodar that caused her to latch on to and try to repair/protect Yaas. And I wonder if the Light isn’t nudging it along or at least amusing her in some way.
I'd be super interested in an 001 for Tanrinin and Yaasnyaeval! :D
Oh most def!
When I started shipping it if I did: Literally the moment I started working on Tanri’s backstory. It’s been in the back of my mind for years, but I kept it hush hush to let things develop on their own. x3
My thoughts: Holy crap Yaas and Tanri are SO unhealthy but so good for each other. (Hrm I’m sensing a pattern…) Their relationship is without a doubt abusive in some major ways, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be that way forever. Plus there’s some strong argument for the abusive nature coming from things outside their control.
What makes me happy about them: I love how desperate Tanri is to make Yaas happy, how she tries so hard but feels super self-conscious about it. She’s given everything she has for Yaas several times over. And though Yaas doesn’t always respond in the, uh, best ways, there’s a certain deep devotion between them that makes me squee. Also I love nibbly sleeping Yaas. XD
Things done in fanfic roleplay that annoy me: Dangit, Yaas, stop playing along with the evil curse possessing you and realize that it’s not you who is evil! Gah!
Things I look for in fanfic roleplay: Ways to challenge their loyalty to each other. Though Yaas did kind of… kill… Tanrinin, so I’m not exactly sure where to go from there! That seems kind of the ultimate challenge, huh? It will be fun to see how that affects their future interactions. :3
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Tanrinin and Shadat should hook up. Sexy Draenei followers of the Light, right? Right?? ;D And Haedj seemed friendly! Not sure about Yaas… She would need someone to help her manage her emotions while being supportive, but also someone who could withstand her physicality.
My happily ever after for them: They were so close to happily ever after, for a short time, in Lakeshire! I think they could be happy together if they could just find a quiet place where no one from their past would bother them. Some place near water so Yaas could fish, and Tanrinin would be constantly working on home improvement projects.
Who is the big spoon/little spoon: Yaas is a very nibbly big spoon.
What is their favorite non-sexual activity: Being together, possibly doing their own things (Tanri fiddling with some invention or something broken in the house or something she wants to improve; Yaas fishing or doodling or somesuch), but just being together.
