My first fanart piece for Tanthamore Week 2023

For Day 2 The Darkess Within, I was inspired by the prompt - if Kit was taken instead of Airk.

Also known as an excuse to draw Kit in a cool outfit.

I do wonder how the story would have gone with the twins swapped, how would Airk have fared on the quest, Jade would probably be hellbent on getting Kit back, just to find her at the Shattered Sea corrupted by the Crone and the Wyrm 💔

"There is no reason for you to worry", she knows that it is easier said than done and yet Elora aims to take a little bit of the stress off of Kit, "I am sure Jade will be happy about this no matter the outcome. And honestly, you are doing great." She is not, in fact, doing great. And Elora wonders if Kit ever had to prepare her own food before - a stupid question, really, for she herself grew up in this kitchen preparing said food. It is strange to be here again, after everything that has happened. The kitchen is the same, nothing has changed, but she? She is someone entirely different. And having princess Kit of Tir Asleen beside her... it only adds to the conflicted feelings bubbling inside Elora's stomach. "So, once you are done with kneading you can add the rest of the ingredients. But be careful with the spices, they are expensive and you will get in trou --- No, forget that, you shouldn't worry about that."

The voices of guards reach her before the knock on the door does. She’s already walking towards it when the Pacalcade guard opens it to inform her. The rush down the stairs and to the courtyard is unlike any they’ve seen from the queen, especially since the quest to rescue Airk began. Even questions of whether she is alright go unanswered. She isn’t. She hasn’t been. She won’t be until she sees her children safe and sound. And once in the courtyard, she waits. And the queen never waits. Or so it’s been said. But she does until her children come into view. 

While her children usually come to her, she is the one to approach them, her arms immediately wrapping around them as best she can. Normally one to uphold a stiff upper lip and a tough exterior, Sorsha lets it crumble, tears falling before she can even think to stop them. They’re safe. They’re home.

the nelwyn's getting on her nerves.   the girl is softer then silk,  babying her isn't producing this results.  fear,  rage,  they draw unimaginable power out.  she's as far as feet would carry her from the group she'd initially found little interest in being near.  but father wanted the elora danan on their side.  she'll not return until the girl can do more then send a handful of sparks.  she practices, here.  breathing measured, movements calculated,  burst of blue skating across the water's surface that seems to go on eternally.    bitterness drips from her words,  eyes drawn narrow as she folds fingers, gliding them forward and sending a burst of lightning skittering across the sky before she faces other princess.     ❝ ⠀ his way is not working. ⠀ i did not come here to die on the shattered sea.  nor did you.  she cannot do what's asked of her.  your brother's going to have grandchildren before you see him again. ⠀ ❞

"So, if one wanted to hide from the queen - just for a day of course - how do you propose to do that?", Elora felt terrible about even asking the question yet she had figured if anyone knew how to best hide from Queen Sorsha it would be Kit. The burdens of her newfound responsibilities weighed heavy upon the young sorceress' shoulders and she longed for an afternoon of feeling normal again, of not having to worry. Just one night of blessed sleep instead of sorrows that kept her awake. "I swear if I have to sit through one more council meeting I might simply explode onto all these people. And that would not look good in front of the ambassadors."

My Opinion on;

Character in general: i'm gonna be real with you, when i watched the show, kit wasn't my favorite. (that was - and still is - boorman.) but i've warmed up to her considerably since then and a large part of that is your portrayal of her: you've given me a new appreciation for kit. How they play them: amazing! ten out of ten! no notes! The Mun:we've known each other for ages now; every time i make a new blog or reboot a blog, you're one of the first people i (re) follow!

Elora's feet were heavy, tired with exhaustion. But she did not even recognize that, she simply walked on - like she had done for so many days now. With the wyrm on their heel and the shadows of the immemorial city still lingering in her heart she had no other choice than to walk on, to hope they would soon reach home.

Kit was walking beside her, the rest of the group a bit further back, how long had it been like this? Elora could not tell. But every now and then she could hear Boorman or Willow chat behind them. And then silence again, only the birds in the trees or the leaves in the breeze. Exhaustion might be something she had grown accustomed to, but now, in that moment when her own doubts once again grew too loud in her mind, silence was something she could not handle.

"Are you looking forward to returning home?", she finally turned towards Kit, "Willow said it is only another day, maybe two if we keep the pace. And then... Tir Asleen." Elora could not say what she felt at the thought of that, could not place that emotion inside her heart. Right now the fear was too heavy, too loud.
