OIGO TU VOZ - Orquesta Z (2014) como Tanturi/Campos (1943)

I Hear Your Voice...written by Mario Canaro and Francisco García Jimenez in 1943 Buenos Aires...the heart of the Golden Era.  And few orchestra's were better than Ricardo Tanturi with singer Enrique Campos.

The Porteño is older now, and looks back on his years of tango and longs for his true love...remembering the sound of her voice in the wind..but afraid to open the door...afraid to die, yet thirsting still to live.  A common theme put together perfectly in this song.

Tanturi + Campos

Today we have valses by Tanturi with singer Campos. Remember that Campos sounds darker and sadder than their other singer, Castillo. I find the combination of Campos with vals, which is usually happier, more energetic and faster than tango, interesting, if somewhat hard to place.

Castillo was so intrinsically linked to Tanturi's success that when he left the orchestra to start a solo career, everyone thought that was going to be the end for Tanturi, but then he found Campos - I feel like the style of the music changed quite a bit with that change of singer. I like Campos more usually, it's somewhat (to me) much more dark and beautifully sad, but maybe with Castillo the music has more energy.
