Hometown: Canalave City (Sinnoh)
Specialist Type: Fighting
The grandson of the head librarian of the Canalave Library, Tate-Otto felt out of place amongst the books, feeling more at home training his Pokémon in the caves of the nearby Iron Island. While his twin brother Albie may have shared his fighting spirit, his sister Glynne thinks his excursions and recklessness may be more of a hazard to him that he's willing to admit... and in her defense, there's been more than a few close calls.
Unfortunately for her, the majority of Tate's fighting-type team tend to share his recklessness and enjoyment of the fight. His Grapploct and peculiar green Hitmonchan share his enjoyment of sparring, while his Great Tusk simply enjoys to make a ruckus, often accidentally making new caverns in Iron Island. As for his Falinks, they are fiercely loyal to their trainer... or more specifically his Heracross, who seems perplexed by the fact they tend to line up behind him, seeing him as their commanding officer. Alas, it normally falls to his Breloom to keep things calm, sometimes having to use his Sleep Spore attack when things get too rowdy.
As for his free form team, it doesn't get any better. His Excadrill has no concept of collateral damage, often demolishing everything around him in battle. His Golurk, meanwhile, often stands sentry, keeping an eye out while they fight so that nothing catches them by surprise. Hasn't happened yet, but who knows. His Toxapex and Cacturne are meanwhile more interested in tricky tactics, luring in potential attacks before unleashing their Baneful Bunker and Spiky Shield to catch their foes unawares. As for his Iron Thorns... honestly who knows what's going through that mech's head. He simply stands there, menacingly, until he's finally called into battle.
And as for the Heracross... it is dedicated to its trainer and their team. Heracross is valiant, always being the first into battle, and has a habit of charging in when he hears trouble, ready to help before anyone knows what's going on. And when push comes to shove, his powerful Mega Evolution will floor any Pokémon that tries to mess with him and Tate.
After dominating the Sinnoh Gyms and spending time training in the Battle Frontier of the Battle Zone, he reckons the Pokémon World Tournament should be a cakewalk. Glynne, however, thinks he's going to walk into trouble, and against her better judgement has elected to journey with him to make sure he stay out of trouble.
