What fandoms did you write for this year?

Just F1 in 2021. The last time I wrote fanfic, it was for Star Wars a few years ago.

Did you write more, less or roughly around what you expected you would?

I didn't expect to write anything, so the fact I wrote 4 fics in 2021, another one posted in 2022, with plans for a lot more is 🤯🤯🤯.

Which story did you write in 2021 are you most proud of?

Pride was the first fic I wrote for F1 and it's the most meaningful to me. It definitely helped me process a few things and I got some really nice comments too.

Did you take any writing risks this year?

Not really. Sometimes I wonder how Omegaverse is going to be taken in a new fandom, but it turns out pretty well.

Do you have any fanfiction goals for 2022?

I'm going to take part in the @f1bb, so my goal is to get that written and to be happy with it.

What is your most under-appreciated story?

On stats alone it's dressed like a daydream.

Biggest fanfiction related disappointment of 2021?

I probably spent the most time on dressed like a daydream, so for it to not get much interaction was pretty disappointing.

Biggest fanfiction related surprise of 2021?

How much people seem to enjoy Omega!Daniel! This is super fun for me and I’ve never actually had people give me prompts before (and I’ve been writing fic for nearly half my lifetime at this point). The Omega Daniel Agenda is my favourite thing to happen 🧡

Biggest fanfiction fans of 2021?

I’ve had some lovely comments on my fics in 2021, I’m just really bad at knowing who people are on Tumblr vs AO3 😅 so just know that this section is for anyone that has commented, bookmarked or left a kudos on one of my fics 🥰 @landofour you’ve also been amazing on your support with my F1BB fic 🧡

You said Omega!Daniel not putting up with any more shit from the RBR garage and my brain immediately conjured up that pic of Daniel half in the car, pointing off at something (someone?) with the fiercest look. Just so done. Alphas tend to forget how dangerous an Omega can be. They don't forget after that.

(I went looking for the image after I typed this and my brain was combining two images but the point still stands!)

Daniel is being courted by Max when he lets loose his full potential as an Omega. There are some people on the team that still won’t respect him, only seeing him as the property of an Alpha. And doesn’t that just piss him off.

I wrote a little something for this (not based on an actual GP). I'm actually obsessed by these photos, they're honestly perfect for my beloved Omega!Daniel 🧡

The garage around him is abuzz with life, mechanics and technicians rushing around to prepare for the second practice of the weekend. The atmosphere is highly-strung and tense, but Daniel can’t complain, he’d gone into a barrier in the last session and the team have fought to get the car back into working order. He won’t have the whole session, but there’s enough time left to get some long runs in; any data they can scramble together is better than nothing.

He’s half sat in the car, waiting to get the final go-ahead whilst he goes over the last few things with Michael, his trainer is mostly satisfying himself that the Omega is okay to drive after the incident. Daniel had told him he is, and they trust each other enough for that to be the end of the issue. He glances around but can’t see much from his position, so quickly returns his attention to Michael, who tells him it’s time to go.

Just as he’s ready to shimmy down into the cockpit, one of the strategists appears to stand in front of Michael, his back to Daniel disrespectfully. He isn’t overly familiar with this Alpha, and the harsh scent is already interfering with his senses, unpleasant and obnoxious.

Without acknowledging the Omega, the Alpha speaks only to Michael. “Have you checked with his Alpha?”

“What are you talking about?” Dan asks sharply. Michael keeps quiet out of respect, letting Dan fight his own battles.

“He crashed.” The Alpha barely turns his head, still only addressing Michael. “Check with Max before we send him out.”

Fury settles in Daniel’s gut, “You want to say that again?”

“It’s policy.” He can’t believe what he’s hearing. He practically wrote the rules for how Omegas are to be treated in the team and nowhere is it written that an Alpha’s opinion regarding his body would outweigh his own. Gripping onto the halo, tighter than before, barely controlled rage courses through his veins.

“I don’t think it is,” he snarls, upper-lip curling and canines shining. “I said I’m fit to drive; I’m driving the damn car.”

I think that at the start of his run with Red Bull, Dan tries to be one of the Alphas. He adopts an overconfident, exaggerated persona of what’s expected from an Alpha, even though there’s no fooling anyone. He’s an Omega, shock horror. Red Bull gets a load of backlash for giving a seat to an Omega, especially after he replaces the traditional Alpha, Mark Webber.

Sebastian and Daniil were always welcoming and considerate as Alpha teammates and would respect his boundaries, calling out any bad behaviour they see from other Alpha’s.

It isn’t until Max is put into the Red Bull seat opposite him that he realises how much he misses being an Omega. No pretence, no faking it as an Alpha, giving in to his instincts rather than fighting against them.

Dan realises that he feels safe enough with Max around to allow himself to be the Omega he wants to be, and at some point, they end up mating. Marko is fuming, Christian is unsurprised. They’ve been caught in compromising positions far too often for this not to be the outcome.

It’s at this point he becomes an absolute handful. He stops putting up with the grief he gets from the garage, management, and sponsors. He’s had it. He calls out any and all discrimination and Red Bull finally have to sort themselves out because they’re gaining a less than favourable reputation.

Christian will pretty much do whatever Daniel (and Max) want as long as they don’t find themselves embroiled in a scandal because they’re not exactly good at keeping their hands to themselves. Even in the paddock. Even around all the cameras. The press loves it. Christian’s blood pressure does not.

The communications team are just happy when they find them curled up in a nest together rather than half-naked in a storage closet or the back of the garage.

He’s the first (and therefore oldest) Omega on the grid.

He openly, and proudly, campaigns the FIA for more inclusivity, and gets a ‘Pack Room’ instated (it’s a small motorhome for the grid pack only to use). They start calling him the Pack Omega after this.

Eventually, he mates with Max (haven’t figured out the details of that yet).

He adopts the young Omega’s into his personal pack (Charles, George, Lando, later Mick as well).

He makes the best nests known to man. The younger Omegas can only hope to build a nest half as nice.
