The foodie diary, part 1.
When I travel, the breakfasts/lunches are usually made at home or grabbing a pastry along the way…so the real food comes at dinners :)
First night - Vinitus
http://vinitus.placeweb.site/
We stumbled upon this after our church gathering in the afternoon. We ordered some Catalan specials (tomatoes paste with olive oil and salt) and local specials (fries with mixed eggs).
My favs were the prawns and razor clams here. I never usually suck on the shrimp heads for all the “nutrients” but these were yum 👌🏻🤤 and of course we had awesome sangria. ❤️
Next night - Restaurant Gaudim
http://www.restaurantgaudim.com/
Dining tip #1 - most places open only after 8pm and there’s usually over an hour wait! So go early around 7:45pm to line up or make reservations online!
So because the first place we went to had such a huge line (https://www.lonelyplanet.com/spain/barcelona/restaurants/cerveseria-catalana/a/poi-eat/374977/360761) we looked for something close by and found this gem.
Really good seafood paella! And I also loved the paintings on the wall because of all the happy colors. ❤️ Note to self - the next painting I do, I will try to incorporate these colors and gaudi structures 😁
3rd night - paella class (more to come about that experience in another post)
4th night - Tapeo
http://www.tapeoborn.cat/
We made reservations online for this place recommended by a friend of mine 😃. They are pretty strict with the time though and only limited the dining experience from 7:30pm to 9:30pm (a two hour slot).
My fav dish was hands down the truffled eggs with foie gras and wild mushrooms 🤤🤤🤤🤤 the truffles were actually mixed into the eggs!!!! ❤️ as you can see on the bottom, the waiter will come and mix everything in for you. The avocado and quinoa salad was also super refreshing and yum!

5th night - La Pradetta
http://www.laparadeta.com/
This was a really fun dining experience! You literally go and pick from all the live seafoods, usually by the weight. (It’s supposedly ordered by weight but we just kind of went with half a dozen or dozen for most of the items) And they will cook it for you, either grilled or fried if there is a choice.
Also met new friend from the Montserrat tour this morning, Debbie - controller from North Carolina, so I invited her to dine with us 😁
Fav dishes - not pictured calamari with tiny squids! And also the semi jumbo prawns with claws! The green chimchimri sauce added to the flavor as well!
More to come from tonight and the other local sweets! Enjoy~
