This is a Stratford Warwick blue lever fill fountain pen and pencil set c. 1948-1953. The cap is two pieces, with a metal bottom section and an injection molded cap top. The clip and trim are gold plated. The gold plated stainless steel nib is very firm. The 5 1/4 inch long pen is made of injection molded plastic and came in red, blue, green and black. Warwick was a Stratford product. The Stratford Pen Company was previously known as Salz Brothers, Inc., with the transition happening sometime between 1945 and 1946, based on advertisements. The pen sold for 50 cents. A boxed matching set with a pencil sold for $1. In 1951 a three piece set with a ballpoint pen was introduced for $1.50. Several style versions were made with either gold plated trim or anodized aluminum with silver color trim. Waterman Crusader Taperite c. 1947-1948 in a very dark navy blue. Waterman introduced the Taperite pen line in 1945 in response to the thunder created by the Parker 51. The Taperite pens featured a long tapered section ending in a small 14 karat gold nib, thus the name. Because these were Waterman pens, the nibs are high quality and have some flexibility, as opposed to the 51s firm point. Waterman introduced this model, the Crusader Taperite, in 1947 and made this version through 1948. What makes it interesting is the very lightweight, matte finish "Lumalloy" (aluminum) cap, which probably helped keep the price down as this pen was positioned as the low price Taperite and originally sold for $5.00. The "Lock Slip" cap clicks on. The only adornment is a simple etched dash design on the cap serving as a cap band. The clip and trim are chrome plated. The Crusader came in four colors, blue, grey, black and maroon. This is a Universal D-50 gray lever fill fountain pen c. late 1940s. It’s a 5 1/8 inch long lever filler. The unmarked nib is a semi-hooded firm gold plated stainless steel type with no tipping. Instead the tines are folded over to create a tipping like bulb at the end of nib. The design imitates elements of popular pens like the Parker 51 and Waterman Taperite. The metal cap, clip, section ring, and lever are lightly gold plated and the barrel is probably injection molded plastic. Known colors include black, burgundy, brown and grey. The clip is stamped UNIVERSAL. The barrel is stamped UNIVERSAL PEN INC. over D-50 over NEW YORK, N. Y. U. S. A. Several brands made similar low price point lever fill pens in the style of the Parker 51 and Waterman Taperite. Some of them appear to be made by the same manufacturer being so similar in design and execution. This Diamond Point pen and pencil set is typical of these late 1940s and early 1950s second and third tier writing instruments and appears inspired by the Waterman Taperite Citation. This fountain pen and pencil set is made in a burgundy injection molded plastic, probably late 1940s to early 1950s, near the end of the company's production. It's a 4 7/8 inches long lever fill fountain pen with a gold plated stainless steel semi-hooded nib and all gold plated trim. The clip face is stamped USA over DIAMOND POINT on the face and it is attached under a stepped cap top. The gold plating is cheaply done and subject to wear and scratching. Observed examples of this model also include black. The matching twist action pencil operates by rotating the cone tip.

This is a Universal G-50 black lever fill fountain pen c. late 1940s. The G-50 came in two lengths, with the shorter pen called the G-50 Junior. The nib is a semi-hooded firm gold plated stainless steel type with no tipping, instead using a stamping to create a tipping like bulb at the end of the tines. The design follows popular pens like the Parker 51 and Waterman Taperite models.  The nib is stamped KENART 14 K GOLD PLATED.  The metal cap, clip, section ring, lever, and end cap are lightly gold plated and the barrel is probably injection molded plastic.   Known colors include black, burgundy, brown and grey. It's about 5 1/4 inches long. The clip is are stamped UNIVERSAL.  The barrel is stamped UNIVERSAL G-50 PEN CO N. Y. U. S. A.
