Because autism acceptance month starts tomorrow I drew a special Tapswitch pfp since my old one did need changing (being seasonal and all).

This is the second year I’ve really learned to not be ashamed of who I am and how my brain functions and I’m learning to be proud of who I am and how far I’ve come learning to function and cope with fun things that come with being on the spectrum and I hope for more growth in that direction as the years go by. :,)

Tapswitch might not be involved with his own kind and what they do much but I did have to draw him in his own Remix 6 outfit because the Stepswitcher designs for that mix are 👌👌

He likes marching for now until it’s time to hit the offbeat and he immediately trips and knocks over every other Stepswitcher in his vicinity.

And yes, he is wearing socks with sandals—not that good for his little improv tap routines, though. Doesn’t have that click it’s more like ready bom bom bom *schlap* schlap* *slap*

I also desaturated some of the colors (mainly the background color to be slightly paler than the actual remix background) just because eye strain but just in case I’ll still tag it as that.

“Why can’t I hear things the way they do?”

While this is a piece of vent art and the topic it’s about is pretty related to Tapswitch’s character and real problems I have I mainly wanted to talk about him.

Tapswitch isn’t part Tall Tapper or anything, he’s just a Stepswitcher who admires the group. He’s been notorious for ruining a lot of Lockstep marches because he can march in sync onbeat just fine, but he bungles up offbeats and often zones out entirely as he gets into rhythm, missing the other cues from his partners. He’s naturally spacey and doesn’t think things through, often missing a lot of social cues (like myself) so he’s known for causing a lot of problems. This is again, a vent piece for something that’s been going on for me but there’s a lot of me in the character Tapswitch and he doesn’t understand why he can’t follow offbeats like most Stepswitchers just nahtrually can. Or work well as a teammate..

I did something else in that scribble/sketch style! I really like it, it’s super simplistic but I think it gives the drawings a kind of carefree, innocent feeling because they look like childhood drawings!! When coloring my sketches I usually just airbrush it but this is fun to do on occasions

I’ll try to make proper lineart and shading, but my sketch styles are just what I do best thanks to my hand tremors that mess up the lineart...

Anyway this drawing is also just a reminder to disconnect from the world every once and a while! There’s a lot going on in everyone’s lives so don’t forget to take some time to yourself and just focus on something fun and easy.

Random facts about Tapswitch, my sona!

I try not to go too heavy on OC stuff but I have a bunch of random headcanons pertaining to Tapswitch as a character. I always make my OCs as a sort of extension to a part of myself and he’s a character largely based around my (very big) inner child. So here’s some random facts, headcanons or whatever about the Tapswitcher (and some facts about the Tapswitcher who runs the blog too since you all know the drill of me and my projection)

• As part of me literally creating him as my inner child, Tapswitch himself is young, about 11. (He was originally made older at 13 but upon remembering nothing pleasant at all remained in my memories from that middle school aged time period I made him younger)

• Also like myself Tapswitch is on the autism spectrum :)

• I kinda self-inserted him into the role of the unnamed Megamix protagonist, where he was kind of like a slightly older brother to Tibby.

• I am working on giving him some kind of (maybe like adopted sibling) connection to the male Love Lab scientist purely because he looks like me, which is a stupid reason to do that but I’ve also written 13 fanficitions now about DJs with minimal canon characteristics and filled them in with projection and personal comfort so it’s my fanon and I get to be cringe if I want to

• I actually have a specific height for him of all things. He’s 4 feet tall.

• His shoes aren’t actually proper tap shoes, they’re handmade and the soles are actually wood. And he’s not a cobbler by any means—they’re uncomfortable to walk in.

• His tie is a clip-on, too—he can tie a regular tie but not a bow tie.
