A great perk in coming to St. Francis College is the SFC Mobile app. It has so cool many features that are helpful to students as well as parents. Features such as:
Events happening in school,
Current news we need to know,
Job listings to work on campus,
Free food,
and so much more.
Many colleges have their events only posted on a website. That can be helpful, but SFC knows that students are much more likely to see something on their phone and in an app.
Besides the huge amount of information in the app, students can also find discounts that local stores offer in Brooklyn Heights. One place I found out about is my favorite restaurants in Brooklyn, Lemongrass Grill, is just a few blocks from SFC. They rice with your choice of meat in a bowl of pineapple. This is always a fun way to gather with friends after classes and grab a bite to eat.

Sometimes the worst part of coming to school, is actually coming to school. Whether you take a train, bus, or car, it seems you aren’t a true commuter student if you don’t dread walking to public transit every morning. I used to dread my journey to class every morning, that is, until I started taking the ferry.
I take the NYC Ferry from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and, after a 28-minute ride, I get off at Brooklyn Bridge Pier 6/Atlantic Avenue. If you don’t mind walking, the Ferry is a great way to get around.
There are two stops that are less than a 15-minute walk from Saint Francis College. One of them is Brooklyn Bridge Pier 6/Atlantic Avenue, which has the South Brooklyn Ferry, which runs from Bay Ridge to Wall Street/Pier 11 (and Governor’s Island on the weekends). The other stop is DUMBO, which is serviced by the South Brooklyn Ferry and the East River Ferry. The East River Ferry goes from East 34th Street to Wall Street with stops along the way in Williamsburg and DUMBO. \
Taking the ferry to school, which costs $2.75 (the same as the subway) has heightened my experience in 3 ways.
Ferry service is very limited, so I know I HAVE to leave my house at the right time or I will be late for class.
It is usually pretty empty on the ferry, and I can sit at a seat with a desk and catch up on some of my work during the trip.
If it’s nice out, I can sit outside on the upper level and look at the buildings and the water.

5 Reasons Why You Should Download the SFC Mobile App
Recently, St. Francis College has developed its own mobile app in order to establish a modern connection with students and faculty around campus. The SFC Mobile app allows users to be updated with all things going on within the school, but also offers a few hidden tips, which can be useful for any college student. So put aside your favorite mobile apps for now because here's 5 reasons why you should download SFC Mobile.
Reason #5 - Your Future Career
SFC Mobile offers students a one-stop-shop of career information and opportunities literally at their fingertips. Need a part-time job or an internship? No problem! Check out on-campus and off-campus job listings through Terrier JobLink to ensure you're ahead of the game when you graduate! Check it out on the Worksection within the mobile app.
Reason #4 - Get Involved!
While at SFC it's best to get involved with campus life in order to ensure you'll get the most fun out of your college experience! SFC Mobile provides a list of clubs and organizations, which might become your new favorite thing about SFC! So get involved and check the list out in the Funsection of the mobile app!
Reason #3 - #TerrierDeals
Living in New York City can be expensive, but the SFC Mobile app has you covered! As a college student, money seems to always be thin when you really want that bacon egg and cheese at the local bodega. However, SFC Mobile has a list of #TerrierDeals which are essentially restaurants around the Brooklyn Heights area that give discounts to SFC students. So flash that ID and get some grub–after you download the SFC Mobile, of course.
Reason #2 - What's Going On?
SFC always, and I mean always, has something going on. Whether it be a film-screening or a live musical performance of New York City's top pianist, there's always something happening in the College. Taking a nap is fun, but why do that when you can enrich yourself and attend many of the special lectures SFC has to offer on a monthly basis. If you like sports, attend one of the many sporting events held on a weekly basis during the fall and spring semesters. So be informed and get involved. SFC can be your home if you make it so.
Reason #1 - Free Food!
You're a college student. For the most part, you're always hungry and tired. However, the one thing to get college students to wake up from that zombie-like state is to just simply say two words; free food. Yes, free food. The SFC Mobile app has a section solely dedicated to informing students when and where free food will be on campus every day. The app will also notify you when such golden opportunities occur so you can fill your tummy up on the glorious taste of free food. You love it, and we know you do. So download the app to ensure you know where the next slice of free pizza is going to be.
