Satan's Slaves 2: Communion
I have seen, to my knowledge, three ever Indonesian Horror movies. One is one of the most hilariously bad movies I have ever seen called Lady Terminator. It's one of the most enjoyable group watches I have ever seen. That was my only knowledge of the Indonesian film industry for a long time and like a lot of shitty Americans I was just like, "LOL, cheap schlock". Then I saw Impetigore, a horror movie by Joko Anwar and it was so damn good. Scary for sure, weird, but also full of meaning and strong thematically. It was just an excellent movie and the star was beautiful and I looked her up and then gave up on trying to post her because I struggled to find good pictures. This all lead me to seek out Satan's Slaves, Joko Anwar's previous movie which is also excellent it turns out. It shares a lot of themes with Impetigore, both about childhood, the legacy of what your parents have left you, abandonment. Really strong stuff and again the lead was the same gorgeous actress Tara Basro. They have another movie that just came out but it won't be here in the states until November but I am excited for it. Anyway, I don't know how big of a star Tara Basro is because I find this sort of thing really hard to gauge when it comes to regional film industries. I just know I enjoy her on screen. I like the work she does and she has given two great performances in movies I really liked so I decided I should post her. Today I want to fuck Tara Basro.
