"Let me get this straight... you snuck out of the base, telling the Mage-Commander over the communicator instead of waiting for permission, and with Vel went to the Iron Siegeworks to scout out any possible enemy movements, and then sabotaged what you did find there?"
Taranth was pinching the bridge of his nose, a small part of him surprised that Kit hadn't snuck off before now to do just this, and sighed before turning back around to her.
"That's pretty much the gist of it, Tara," Kit said as she swung her legs off of the table in the command tent, "I made sure that I stuffed a banana in all the tail-pipes of the cannons, gave laxative traced meats to those mutants in the arena there, and beat the shit out of... then drew funny faces on... the people that we couldn't sneak around."
"Ranger-Sergeant, it seems that Junior Scout Sunsoul made a bit of a mess with the Siegeworks," one of the orcs at the camp whispered, "New reports are coming in now... they're reasonably pissed, but she did slow things down."
Kit stuck out her tongue, "I was bored. And Vel asked for help. I mean, she doesn't make a peep over the comms for months, and when she does, it's to make a pretty cool assault."
"Kit..." Taranth said slowly, then swallowed, this wasn't going to be easy, "Junior Scout Sunsoul. What you did was... idiotic at best. You're still healing from that near death wound," he felt anger rising in the back of his throat and fought it back down, it wouldn't help now, "We're a small outpost, one of the smallest in the army right now, and the Mage-Commander does not need any unneeded attention," he let that sink in, not wanting to elaborate that Judessa was leading under false pretenses to the Frostwolves and Horde within earshot, "Our job here is to keep the supply lines open. We have barely enough men to do just that and you go and join a two man assault against one of their main forces... it's a wonder that you and Velerodra were not killed."
Kit paled and started to open her mouth in protest and he glared at her, causing her to close it right back up.
"Evirin is right, you are a brat. Because only a small spoiled child would do something so damn foolish as to risk the lives of everyone on this outpost and back at Judessa's garrison. Only a brat would think that it would be 'fun' to go with someone not known for their stability into such a dangerous place. And so I must take action against yours," he looked back down at the reports and clenched his fists, "Junior Scout Sunsoul, you are officially restrained to your quarters. And since I cannot trust that you will stay were you are told, I have no choice but to place an escort to ensure that you do not leave those quarters for the next week. By that time, I hope to have been able to contact the Mage-Commander and have her official word on the matter."
"But Tara I..." Kit started and he looked up at her, his mouth tightening, and she closed her mouth again and looked away.
"I nearly lost you once already," he said in a low voice and she glanced back to notice the tears hidden, "How many times have it been for everyone else that came before me?" Kit stood, "Understood Ranger-Sergeant," she said softly, then walked out of the command tent, "I... won't go anywhere Tara..."
"I can't trust you," he whispered, "I'll let Magister Krelas continue your lessons... but other than that," he held out his hand, "Your communicator." She paused, then reached to her ear and gave it to him, "I can get out for Tavern Night, right?" "That depends on what the Mage-Commander says," he said quietly, "Take her to her quarters Nethen."
The orc nodded, "This way little wolf sister," he said quietly and Kit glanced back at Tara one more time before nodding and following the Frostwolf.
