🇮🇹 Questa storia mi è stata raccontata da @san_vecorta (Valentina), che vive in Argentina e mi ha chiesto di aiutarla a ricostruire il passato della sua famiglia.

Nella memoria familiare compare una figura inattesa: una bisnonna ricordata come proveniente dal Levante, arrivata prima in Sicilia e poi in Calabria nei primi decenni del Novecento.

Gran parte della sua storia è andata perduta nel silenzio del tempo.

Ma a volte frammenti di memoria riemergono nei gesti, nelle tradizioni e nei legami tra diverse sponde del Mediterraneo.

🇬🇧 This story was shared with me by @san_vecorta (Valentina), who now lives in Argentina and asked for help reconstructing her family’s past.

In her family memory, an unexpected figure appears: a great-grandmother remembered as coming from the Levant, who first arrived in Sicily and later moved to Calabria in the early twentieth century.

Much of her story has faded into silence.

Yet sometimes fragments of memory resurface in gestures, traditions and connections across different shores of the Mediterranean.

En la memoria familiar aparece una figura inesperada: una bisabuela recordada como proveniente del Levante, que llegó primero a Sicilia y después a Calabria a comienzos del siglo XX.

Gran parte de su historia se perdió en el silencio del tiempo.

Pero a veces fragmentos de memoria reaparecen en gestos, tradiciones y vínculos entre distintas orillas del Mediterráneo.
