On a recent trip to the local secondhand store, I was digging through the bins of movies and found a DVD of The Day the Earth Stood Still. I already owned Forbidden Planet and had joked to my wife about collecting all of the classic sci-fi films referenced in the song "Science Fiction/Double Feature" from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. This idea was vetoed at the time, but I have never let that get in the way of some fun nerdery.
The list:
Forbidden Planet
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Flash Gordon
The Invisible Man
King Kong
It Came From Outer Space
Doctor X
Tarantula!
The Day of the Triffids
Curse of the Demon
When Worlds Collide
The real trick is to see how far down the list I can get before my wife notices that's what I'm doing.
As a bonus, I really need to find another copy of the 1960 edition Little Shop of Horrors with Jack Nicholson as the dentist patient. It's not in the song, but I lost my VHS copy at some point and I want to have it on DVD.
