Since we know Eddie will be there for presumably Gerard’s funeral we should focus on the important thing. WHERE is he staying?? Obviously with Buck. Are either of them really going to make the other sleep on the couch after a funeral???? Of course not. There’s only one bed. They’re emotionally wrung out. Holding each other for support. even if gerrard was awful, neither one of them ever would have wished death on him and factor in him dying in the line of duty too. and losing ANYONE always hits buck so hard but losing another firefighter hits even harder and while he was there and maybe even could have done something to stop it from happening oughhhhh buck would be Distraught 😩
and OF COURSE he would never make eddie take the couch in his own house (bc ofc he's still thinking of it as eddies house!!) but eddie would never let buck take it in these circumstances either, so they end up sharing!! the!! bed!!! and there's space between them at first, and it's dark in the room and it's silent between them, the both of them trying to sleep but sleep isn't coming for either of them, and it's like the first time all day buck has been able to like. sit still and be with his thoughts and its just. SO much, the days events and everything that led up to it and thinking of all the ways it couldve been different too, how it could have been bobby it could have been hen it could have been chim it could have been ravi it could have been him it could have been— and suddenly he's got tears in his eyes and hes biting down on his lip trying to be quiet about it, but his shoulders are shaking a little and of course eddie notices of course he does, and the days been weighing heavy on him too, and HE'S been thinking if could have been buck, and he's not crying but he feels drained too and buck is hurting and he's hurting so he just. rolls over into bucks space, and wraps his arms around him, draws buck in, let's him cry into his shirt, lets himself feel every single one of those emotions he's been trying to hold tightly back the whole day.
