There is a huge upside to being part of a smaller fandom: I can be as soap-opera crazy and self-indulgent with my fics and art. I can do that anyway but it does give a little freedom to work out the details on the wacky stuff.
One of the best things about playing Wylde Flowers while stoned is that I forget where the eggs are located when I do the hunt. Every time is a new egg hunt!
So I love fun little Easter egg type stuff in games and this one I recognized right away. In Wylde Flowers you have a preset list of names to choose from for your farm animals.
Two of those options are Pancho and Lefty. This is a reference to the old country song of the same name. Most people know Willie Nelson’s version, but the original was written and recorded by Townes Van Zandt.
Townes was a poet of exceptional ability. His songwriting inspired countless other artists after him. His songs are sad but beautiful!
I’ve never cried while writing a fic before. I have started and restarted this Tara and Kai story more than any story I’ve ever done.
Usually if one doesn’t work after the first two or so tries, I lose interest and can’t finish it. But this one won’t let me go.
I love how a simple pairing ends up being the most emotional one I’ve written. God I hope somebody actually reads and enjoys it.
