Credit to @outlandishjourneys : A dark place in #Highland #History...both literally and figuratively! 😱 Down in this crypt, below #historic Portmahomack, you can see the remains of an early #Pictish #Church dating back some 1,200 years, to the #9thcentury! It is also the scene of a grisly #Clan massacre in the late #15thcentury, in which men of Clan #Mackay were chased into the later Church by some men of Clan Ross and burned alive in this very room! You can still see the scorch marks on the walls...yikes! 🙁 #tarbatdiscoverycentre #Scotland
