After everything that had happened at the carnival, Alec had tried his best to do damage control within the best of his capabilities - though some things just were out of his hands. He had been busy traveling between Beacon Hills and Alicante to try and find out as much as possible about the breakout that had happened - but that hadn’t been his only reason for his research.

The other part of his research had been in regards to someone else entirely and given that most of it had been fruitless, he had decided to take matters into his own hands. His hands, which were holding a coffee each as he entered the gym to find Allison. Once he saw her, he ignored everyone else, walked right up to her and without giving her a chance to even say anything, he thrust the coffee towards her. “This is for you and I need to talk to you,” he said, realising that maybe he sounded a little rude, so he added a “please” right after.

Had the circumstances been different, Derek would have been nowhere near the carnival. He didn't necessarily have anything against the festivities or the holiday, but with the bodies and the traps in the preserve, any kind of celebration just seemed out of place to the werewolf. The distraction wouldn't change anything, it wouldn't solve anything, and it was likely doing more harm than good. What was the mayor thinking? Why did he organize such an event while it was possible a murderer was still on the loose? When the woods were still not clear of traps and who was behind it had not been found?

The wolf used his senses to inspect the surroundings again. It was difficult to concentrate, the amount of noises and smells in the area proving to be challenging. More than that though, feeling the brunette staring at him was also distracting. Derek sighed. "What?" he asked her, glancing at Allison.

Though Clary was more than determined to find the cause of the chaos at the carnival, she had to admit getting time away from the investigation was, occasionally, a relief. As much as she wanted to find answers, discover why the wendigos and vampires had been experimented on and let loose on civilians, Clary needed a break, everyone at the Sheriff's station and hospital did. There was too much suffering, too much trauma, too much death to get through; and it was becoming quite clear they were merely scraping the surface of the whole mystery.

The nephilim needed time to think, time to calmly put the pieces she already had together and then make room to look through more. She just wanted to breathe in some fresh air, so when she was off duty, the auburn haired woman decided to take a walk around town. She wanted to pass by the fitness center, see if Isabelle was working that day. However, a few blocks away, Clary noticed a brunette running across the street. She seemed upset, and no one else seemed to notice her?

Usually, that wouldn't have been strange. After all, Clary was born and raised in New York. But as the brunette finally made it to the sidewalk the auburn haired one was on, it was clear people really couldn't see her, and a bicyclist was coming straight towards her. In one swift movement, Clary used her stele to activate her speed rune, able to reach the brunette in time to pull her out of the way. She ignored the others' concern about her "getting in the way", instead focusing on the young woman.

"That was a close one," she joked, laughing lightly afterwards. "Though it can be fun, running around without activating your visible rune can be pretty dangerous." Clary looked over the other, her brow furrowing slightly. "--Are you alright?"

“Did you arrest us for trespassing or something, because, news flash, I was in my own apartment.” (Allison lol)

“Yes, you were. And no, it wasn’t for trespassing but for your rats being too adorable to be legal.”

“Maybe I don’t want your chances, I don’t know you! I don’t know any of you, so just leave me alone!”

Wow, it must really hurt you and your spies to know people can feel secure in their relationships, and know there's nothing underhand going on, huh? leave me and mine alone.

“Which time?” He joked, taking the time to reminisce about his childhood in a way he hadn’t done in...well, he didn’t think he’d ever done it. Now that he had Kitty back, it was easier to think about everything. It was easier to focus on the positives rather than dwelling on the negatives until they consumed him entirely. “No, I remember, pup.”
