let it happen. // jane & taron.
Jane paced the floor of her bedroom. She’d finished getting ready half an hour ago, and Tinks had left already, leaving her alone with her anxiety. She walked back and forth, the skirt of her dress flowing around her legs and the small heels of her boots clicking on the wooden floor.
What if this was a disaster? Well, that was almost guaranteed, if any of their previous face-to-face conversations were any indication. She didn’t know why it was so hard for her to talk to Taron, and yet she wanted to do it all the time. On a whim, she took her phone and pulled up their text thread from a few days before. She’d been finding herself reading it again and again, getting a warm sort of feeling in her stomach as she read over all the things he’d said to her. She always dwelt on the bit where he said he’d been wanting to ask her out since they first met.
She hoped the dinner wouldn’t be too awkward. She hoped she had it in her to make conversation and say the right thing at the right time. Maybe tell a joke or two, just to make him laugh. Yeah... she loved to make him laugh. His eyes crinkled in the cutest way, almost shutting completely. She loved his laugh. God, she wished he would arrive already. The waiting was driving her slowly insane, and Jane wasn’t exactly sane to begin with.
