The nation of Mondstadt, land of the free for those who call her home. There was a gentle breeze caressing the lands, making leaves rustle and tree branches calmly dance within the tempo of the wind's movement. Windwheel Asters spun delightedly as Dandelion seeds were carried along the day's delicate gust, while the sun was at its peak... It was simply beautiful. Not only that, but it felt absolutely wonderful to the inhabitants that resided in Barbatos's lands; and Kaeya was no different from anyone else in this matter.

The Cavalry Captain had long since completed his own work and then some, before opting to enjoy a 'leisure stroll' for once in his life. Normally he would be anxious in spending his time like this, but today... It was exceptionally nice today. How could he even fathom letting a day like this pass by without actually enjoying it for once by just sitting in his office? Even so, his 'stroll' was, of course, a guise for him to patrol the area between the Winery and Springvale uninterrupted. While he did want to enjoy the weather, there was still that itch in him that told him to be vigilant and look out for Mondstadt all the same.

He can never afford to simply relax.

He hiked up the mountains that stood proudly in the middle of the Dawn Winery and Springvale, using this setting as a vantage point for him to look down at the roads that wound around and between them. This way, he's able to enjoy his day while also keeping a keen eye on anything occurring below. He had high hopes that today would be uneventful, but of course, he could never be too sure.

It is a miracle their paths have not crossed sooner. The harbinger should count himself lucky given his crimes against Liyue — a fact that makes his presence before Xiao all the more puzzling. ❝ What do you want, mortal? You're quite bold to seek me out. ❞

"I take it that you're the one who received my invitation?"

At the Winery's entrance, they are greeted with a cordial smile and wide, open arms.

Activity at the Goth Grand hotel had seen a noticeable increase as of late, which could only mean one thing: the Fatui were expecting imminent company.

After all, it is the Dawn Winery's supply of both soft and alcoholic drinks that are most accessible to them on relatively short notice -- so when a larger-than-usual order comes in, it does not pass the notice of the young master, ever-suspicious as to what's happening within the walls of their fair city.

Of course, he's not allowed to meddle in diplomatic affairs any longer ( not without getting himself into serious trouble with the ever-helpful Knights of Favonius ) but Diluc is just so keen to come face-to-face with one so high up in the rankings that he can't help himself. It's every bit as exciting as a celebrity coming to visit.

So, with that last shipment, he sends out a calling card just for them: a personal invitation to the Winery grounds for their 'esteemed visitor', should they wish to get out of the city and discover the history of their famous wine culture.

It ran the risk of going entirely ignored, but as head of one of the most influential families in Mondstadt, it was only polite to offer, no?

"Welcome to the Dawn Winery. Diluc Ragnvindr, ever at your service."

His courtly persona fades in the next instant, expression darkening in the other's presence.

"Do you know who I am?"

it huffs, reaching forward to wrap one of it's arm's around kaeya's waist only to somewhat harshly tug him back towards it a second later . it nuzzles against the back of his neck ❛❛ krasivaya, lyubimaya.. ❜❜ maybe it was getting a little annoyed at kaeya having to focus on work , on others - instead of focusing on it .

❛❛ you should .. ignore work for the rest of the day , and focus on me instead . ❜❜ it leans forward, looking over his shoulder to grin at him , before sticking its tongue out to lick up his neck . clearly it wants to be a meance. ❛❛ unless you find it more interesting than me . ❜❜ ( fl go brrr )

The last thing Kaeya expected was to be yanked back by the abyssal creature, thrashing a bit from the initial surprise before settling down. He huffed in turn out of very mild exasperation, but exasperation, nonetheless. Although, he was unable to keep his cheeks from warming at the pet names it used on him while it nuzzled against him.

Heaving a sigh, the Mondstadtian press a hand to the arm around his waist, giving it a few gentle and assuring strokes. “Liebling…” he began with that all-knowing, pointed tone, “You can’t keep doing this, you know. You can’t always drag me away from my job; I have work to do. Just because some of us are enjoying some time off, doesn’t mean that everyone else is, too.”

Then, however, he felt the long stripe of its tongue lick up his neck. With a gasp and a shudder, he grits his teeth and furrowed his brows, screaming at himself internally to PULL HIMSELF TOGETHER! No, he refuses to bend to its whims, he has things to do and responsibilities to get done and commitments to get to and—and…

“… Ugh. UGH—Archons, you’re insufferable! Fine, but don’t get used to this!” he relents, groaning in defeat as he dragged his hands down his face.

( 🌙 ) SHE'S TIRED. EXHAUSTED even. it'd been a full two weeks from the look of things when she'd pulled herself out of the chasm , her first place to explore to see if her tartaglia was down there. with an amount of time she'd not deign to think about down in the abyss she'd come up empty. giving up was never something she was good with , and in the end she still didn't give up as fresh air hit her senses and alleviated the headache only just.

TELEPORTING ONLY ONCE to the closest point between sumaru and fontaine she collapses onto one of the cushion seats of a ferry toward fontaine. numbness begun to bleed into feelings she couldn't express in public , no matter how much the burn in the back of her eyes grew. the longer the ride progressed the worst it felt , sucking in a breath as one of her palms pressed against her eyes as her teeth grit and she felt ridiculously lucky that she was one of the only ones on this line right now.

SHE BLINKED A couple times as she felt a gentle but warm touch to her cheek , moving her hand away to see aeval smiling brightly up at her. ❛ MISS TRAVELER ARE you okay ? it isn't like you to be so down ! ❜ she worriedly fretted , giving her a gentle pat down. lumine sheepishly rebuked her worry , but in a fashion that expressed her hurriedness to sort out what was going on and to not offend or hurt the melusine's feelings ( she had enough on her plate than to end up in neuvillette's office with questions why one of his daughters was upset ).

WALKING OFF HER nausea enough she makes it to the hearth , rapping her knuckles against the door to find lyney smiling at her and asking her all sorts of things which leaves her expression a little sour. he's trying to deflect and continued to do so when ( or tried ) to ask questions , only alleviating her frustration and draining patience further.

SHE'S HAD ENOUGH with pleasantries. she's tired and frustrated and she knows he's here. she refused to be pushed out of the door of the hearth as she pushed past lyney who'd been trying to talk her out of coming inside.

❛ MOVE. I KNOW he's here and i'm not going to leave til i talk to him. i don't care , ❜ she sidesteps out of freminet's way as the meek boy merely stood in her way in an attempt to do the same as his brother. she didn't wish to hurt him , hurt any of them but her patience and sanity running thin.

THE FEAR IN the back of her mind that The Knave would stop her wasn't enough to push her way through : she belonged to no nation , the woman of the stars was naught held down by any rules or regulation on disturbing some semblance of peace. at the end of her rope she no longer cared about her own safety as much as she should. she'd apologize later after she found him.

HER OWN PEACE had been broken and she wanted it back. she wanted to have her home back. to hold him. she pushes past familiar and unfamiliar faces like a woman on a mission til she finds a door she knows childe often could be found behind. she gives one solid knock before pushing it open and her breath catches.

Were it in fact an act of placation Diluc would have refused with the same vehemence he directed indiscriminately at all who ranked amongst the Fatui but there’s an audacious challenge laid before him and he bristles at the opportunity. As someone who favoured pretences of decorum  it was unusual for him to exhibit his animosity so openly. It wasn’t an act of benevolence that made him acknowledge it, as his eyes narrow upon the other’s blithe countenance he feels prickles of familiar ire prowling along the edges of his composure.

❝ losing would be a win for you ? ❞ he reiterates, peculiar as it was who was he to deny the harbinger their folly. He expels a breath before his decision is made. ❝ very well, I’ll accept your challenge.❞  there’s a distinct shift within him, as if the anticipation of it had fallen into place. ❝ Just know that when you lose I expect you to respect my decision to prohibit you from returning to angel’s share. ❞  hostility may not imbue his words but the intensity of his glare was penetrating.
