Shigatse Tibet 1997 Tashilhunpo Monastery, the Kelsang Temple and the large courtyard used for festivals and monastic activities, and a rather thin looking younger version of me sitting on the steps of the assembly hall, which was built around the 15th century. At this point in time it was about thirteen months since I had left the UK with a backpack on my shoulders and a vague plan of travelling through Asia overland.
