Headcanon: 141 cooking
characters: ghost, soap, price, Alejandro, horangi, König, gaz
Ghost is hands down the shittiest cook in the base. My guy can only handle making tea and beans on toast. (He most definitely can make himself sandwiches and easy dishes, but things that require more than 5 steps? hell nah)
Alejandro is the best cook, maybe it's his Mexican roots, love for food and family, or just natural talent, but he's damn good at it. The only issue is he tends to forget he's also cooking for English and Scottish people, so he gets stopped by Soap before he adds any spices and he measures them himself. If Alejandro has his way, everything would be extra spicy so he can feel a kick, Ghost on the other hand? You better believe he'll be on the toilet for a long time.
Once it did happen. When Ghost wanted to try a bite from Alejandro's plate to just see how spicy it is, out of pure curiosity.
"Is it too much, hermano?" Alejandro asked, watching ghost chew, his mask scrunched at his nose bridge, leaving his mouth and chin exposed.
"No…" Ghost said, his voice almost completely gone. And to make it worse, the skin around his eyes turned red and he took his gloves off, as if that would help with the heat.
Another good cook amongst 141 is surprisingly Soap. If he has instructions to follow and measurements, it's safe to assume he'll follow through and make whatever he wants. Maybe it's the fact that he has an affinity towards explosives and making toys that go boom, but he's good with numbers.
John Price is good at making a limited amount of dishes like soup, stews, a cake or two and salad. But other dishes? He needs to get used to making them for a long time before getting the hang of it.
König is only comfortable with cooking dishes he remembers having as a child, he doesn't tend to be that adventurous when cooking, sticking with the things he knows and likes.
If Ghost is not allowed to cook for the whole group, he gets to cut meat. After all, before he joined the military, he was a butcher apprentice in a supermarket. And he's really good at handling knives, so if anything needs to be cut, Ghost is there to do it. Or he gets to wash the dishes while Horangi dries them.
König when he's not cooking gets chopping board duties. Any vegetable that gets placed in front of him is chopped under Alejandro or Soap's order.
Horangi on the other hand is a decent cook, sharing the dishes his Eomma (mum) used to make for him as a child with the 141 guys. But when he's not cooking, he helps by watching so nothing burns and stirs when told to do so.
Gaz is the one that gets any ingredients, plates, knives or pots needed. He watches over the kitchen and the stove, bringing things he seems missing before they even ask for them. He's also the assigned DJ. He built a shared playlist, with everyone's favourite songs so nobody whines, and plays it when they're all busy in the kitchen to create ambience.
If Price is not cooking, he gets to set up the table and prepare the drinks, most of the time it being chilled beers and fizzy drinks.
However, once Price did cook, and decided to make everyone classic English fish & chips. He had an apron on while he fried the fishes and had gaz help him watch over the chips. König that night was excited because he felt like he was getting a bit of the British experience while Soap was shouting at Price, calling him "Bossman" and complaining at how fish & chips have gotten more expensive recently.
soap/gaz "this has a kick to it." vs Alejandro "I only added butter and salt…"
they would say the stupidest things to Alejandro's face and watch him turn every colour of the rainbow with steam coming out of his ears.
