Task 27 (The beginning)
“You can’t get rid of me that easy El. I have been around for years. You can try but I will always come back.” The words wrapped her ear like a ribbon around a present. She hated the fact that he was right but this time it would be different. This time she would stay on her meds and make sure he kept away. “This time will result differently. I promise you that.” Eloise turned to face the man who was now leaning up against her counter with a smirk across his face. “You know you are wrong. You’ll feel better and you’ll stop taking them. You always do.” She looked at the pills in her hand and she frowned. Maybe she should just put them back into the bottle and toss them into the trash. She contemplated the idea for a moment as Sebastian kept trying to throw his two cents at her. “Would you just shut the fuck up?!” She screamed as she quickly popped the pill into her mouth, washing it down with some water. Days turned to weeks and by surprise Eloise had been keeping up with her meds. At first it was a rocky start but she did her best and doubled up if she missed. Sebastian seemed to disappear and for the first time in a while she actually felt free. No one to butt in when things got a little rough. No one was right in her ear to fill her head with lies or their own opinions. It felt liberating but yet she felt so empty. Her halls used to be filled with laughter and banter between the two and now she only had her four walls to listen to her if she needed it. Her father was only ever sound when he needed something and thanks to a murder attempt Cassian didn’t even remember her. She couldn’t understand it. If she felt so alive then why did she feel so alone? Eloise glanced at the pill bottle that was sitting on the counter, calling her name. She hated that he was going to rub it in on how she gave up too easily but she had no other choice. The silence was screaming loudly and she needed someone to know. “I knew you couldn’t stay away.” She jumped at the sound of his voice filling the air. Usually it took weeks for her hallucinations to start making their way back but this time it was only a few days. She couldn’t help but smile. “What can I say? The loneliness got to me.” She shrugged as she turned to see Sebastian standing there against the counter the way he usually did. “Having some issues? Let’s talk about it.” He made his way around the counter and took a seat on the couch, pulling a pillow over to help support his arm. “I don’t even know where to begin if you want me to be honest.” Eloise sighed as she curled up onto the chair across from him. “Can we just talk about something mundane for now? Like my day?” Sebastian let a laugh fill the empty space. “You have so much going on and you want to talk about your day?” His gaze met hers and immediately he softened a bit. “Okay I’ll indulge. Tell me about your day.” She let a small smile tug on the corners of her mouth as she began to go into detail about her day and the events of her weeks without him.
