The weirdest thing about my parents moving us to Hobart, Tasmania, for a portion of our childhood is how absolutely messed up our Australian geography is.

It's cold. Everything is to the north. Antarctica is literally right there. You have to plan how you're getting onto or off of the island. Melbourne is the most important city in Australia. There's a carcass of a sperm whale messing up my sister's swim race. There are tree ferns. It's very wet.
