Best Job in the World Finalist!
It feels pretty surreal to be saying this, but yesterday I found out that I have been shortlisted for one of Tourism Australia’s ‘Best Jobs in the World’. Out of 600,000 applications for six unbelievable jobs across Australia, I am one of the lucky 25 that’s still in the running for arguably the best job of all – TASTE MASTER.
OH MY. If this is the first you’ve heard of the Best Jobs in the World campaign, I’ll fill you in. As part of a major international campaign to promote Australia’s working holiday programme, Tourism Australia launched a campaign to recruit six people to six amazing jobs across the country. Interested applicants were asked to submit a 30 second video explaining why they should get the job. You can see my video for Taste Master on The Best Jobs in the World website.
If successful, I will spend six months eating my way around Western Australia, foraging out the finest produce and uncovering the best bars and restaurants, all the while sharing my finds with the world via blogs, videos, interviews and social media. HELLO DREAM JOB!
So, why me?
Everyone who knows me believes that this job was MADE for me. I’m a food and wine obsessive that loves nothing more than sharing my experiences through blogs and social media. I’ve been blogging about food and wine on various blogs for over ten years and fell head over heels in love with Western Australia’s food and wine when I visited as part of a round the world foodie trip in 2011. This blog was set up to document this trip, so have a trawl through my blog archive and you'll see how passionate I am about food and drink :)!
You can also have a peek of my shortlisted video – Tourism Australia thought it showed why I would make a great Taste Master and I hope you’ll agree!
What next?
Tourism Australia has tasked me with getting as much advocacy and media interest as possible from now until Wednesday 8 May. They want me to find the ultimate referees to support my application, who can back up my claims as to why I’m the best possible candidate for the role of Taste Master.
My campaign
For the next two weeks I’m going to take on the role of Taste Master in my beloved city of Leeds, telling the story of the amazing culinary scene that the city has and the people that make it up. Whilst sampling the foodie delights of the city, I’ll be interviewing as many people as possible, finding out their stories and getting their support for my campaign. And of course I will be trying to find links with Western Australia as much as I can in the process!
How can you help?
I need YOU to follow my campaign, get behind me and tell the world why you think I’d make the best Taste Master.
Facebook will be my central hub for my campaign, where I’ll link to all videos, photos, media coverage and blog posts. I’d love it if you could like my page, leave a message of support on the wall and share with as many people as possible! You'll find the page here: www.facebook.com/lisafortastemaster.
If you like to tweet, follow me on twitter, tweet me your messages of support and RT as much as you can! You'll find me at @_lisafarrell_ and the hashtag is #lisafortastemaster
I’ll also be instagramming away so please follow me at whereslisa, like my posts and leave your messages of support tagged with #lisafortastemaster.
Finally I'll be creating lots of videos as I eat my way around Leeds, so save my YouTube channel to your favourites to find out more!
If you’re a food or wine outlet that would like to support me, or if you work in the media and would like to cover my story, you can email me at [email protected] or call me on 07817688457.
All that’s left for me to say is a big THANK YOU in advance for your support – let’s do this for Leeds!!
