A delicious twist on the classic Beef Wellington, this Ground Beef Wellington is made with flavorful ground beef, mushrooms, and onions, all wrapped in buttery puff pastry.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef. 1/2 cup finely chopped mushrooms. 1/4 cup finely chopped onion. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 teaspoon dried thyme. Salt and pepper to taste. 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed. 1 egg, beaten.
Instructions: Get the oven ready by heating it up to 400F 200C. Over medium heat, cook the ground beef, mushrooms, onion, and garlic in a skillet until the beef is browned and the vegetables are soft. Get rid of extra fat. Mix the beef and add thyme, salt, and pepper to taste. Let it cool down a bit. On a floured surface, roll out puff pastry until it's about 1/4 inch thick. Cover the puff pastry with the beef mixture, leaving a border around the edges. Seal the edges of the pastry as you roll it up tightly. Put it on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper seam side down. For a golden finish, brush the top with an egg wash. Put it in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and fully cooked. Let it cool a bit before cutting it up and serving it.
