I’m sure that GamesWorkshop is going to FAQ this strategy because of how ridiculous it is, but for now it’s still viable.
Shadowsun has the special rules ” Independent Character, infiltrate, and supporting fire”.
Since the Riptide is not always one model (It can take drones), it counts as a squad.
This lets Shadowsun join it.
Her stealth suit has “Stealth” and “Shrouded” special rules, and they apply to the entire unit if someone has it.
“Shrouded” gives the unit a cover save 2 points better than usual. This means a unit in an open field automatically has a 5+ save.
“Stealth” adds onto that giving the unit another point to the save, making the unit with both “Stealth” and “shrouded” a 4+ save in the open, which only gets better with them being in cover.
So if Shadowsun and the Riptide are in the same unit (made possible through Shadowsun being an Independent Character, and the Riptide counting as a possible multi model unit), the riptide gets her “Stealth” and “Shrouded” special rules as well.
“Infiltrate” allows the unit that has it to deploy last. You can deploy 12” away from the enemy if they don’t have line of sight, or you can deploy 18” with line of sight.
However, since the Riptide is a Jetpack Unit, it can move 6” during its movement phase, and then move 2d6 in it's assault phase (even after firing). Since it’s a monstrous creature (Which is awesome), it has “Fear”, “Hammer of Wrath”, “Move Through Cover”, “Relentless”, and “Smash”.

As neat as all those special traits are, the ones you want are “Move Through Cover” and “Relentless”.
Everything else has to deal with close combat, any chances are if you get the Riptide in close combat, you’re doing it wrong.
“Move Through Cover” automatically passes a dangerous terrain test, and you get to roll 3d6 (Pick highest) when moving through cover.
“Relentless” lets your Riptide fire all of its delicious heavy weaponry the same turn it moved with no penalty.
I say find a good spot close to the enemy to infiltrate near. Maybe a nice forest or something.
Park your Riptide in their for an absolutely stupid cover save, and laugh as your opponent eats his own shoes in frustration.
I would also like to bring up another wonderful perk of Shadowsun, and that’s her Command-link drone.
It can nominate a single friendly unit (Your Riptide) within 12”, and at the beginning of the shooting phase, and that unit gets to re-roll any To Hit rolls of 1.
Nova Charging your weapons get some interest results, but they come with the risk of “Gets Hot”.
“Gets Hot” means that any roll of 1 counts as a wound to your guy.

Let’s not forget Shadowsun’s “MV52 Shield Drone” that gives her unit a 3+ Invulnerable save.

What I posted was more of a first impressions than a review, as there was so much that I didn’t cover.
Expect a full review of the new Tau Codex never, but nevertheless, expect it.
