Hi hi hi!! Weirdo hereeee! So this au has already been around for a long while, and the last summary post was made…. a year ago. Yikes, old art jumpscare. So I took it upon myself to redo it so one, people don’t have to look at my old art, and two, so we can hopefully get more people interested!
This au was made by myself, as well as my amazing friends @deirunn and @alasylunatic. Go ahead and give them both a follow if you’re new, they’re both awesome people with amazing art and stories.
A FEW THINGS TO NOTE BEFORE READING THIS POST!!!!
- This is an au that was created before the name changes of Cosmos and Terra. Half of the fic was written before the name change, and we didn’t want to go through and change all of the names. Also, it wouldn’t make sense with the timeline, so please forgive us for that! In this story, Cosmos will still be referred to as Lunar, and Terra will still be referred to as Earth. I hope that doesn’t put anyone off QwQ
- This is an astral centered au. The celestial family will appear, but we will mainly be focusing on Cosmos/Lunar’s relationship to the astral bodies. We will also be diving into each astral individually, along with their relationships with each other and Lunar. We will also be exploring the world building we’ve come up with, so some terms may pop up that aren’t there in canon. They will all be explained in the fic, but if you want to know before reading the fic, everything can be found using either the #TSAMS gladiator au tag on tumblr, or the #astral culture tag. This leads me to my next point.
- Some of the astrals we have seen in canon will be acting differently than how they are portrayed in the show. I am entirely talking about Aries with this one. The story was written before she appeared, and it would’ve been a hassle to change everything. Cosmos x Aries also unfortunately won’t be tackled in this fic, it will mainly be focused on Cosmos x Gemini (though note their relationship will be portrayed as toxic due to Cosmos’ decisions in the fic, and Gemini’s lack of emotions).
- There are multiple authors working on the fic. I write the most of them personally, but my friends Deirunn and Alasylunatic occasionally pop in and write themselves to help me with the slack. Please don’t let that put you off, I promise they’re also both amazing and talented authors :3

Anyways without any further delay, time to get into the summary of the au. Hope you guys enjoy!!
This au is about the idea of what if the dark stars won the war? What if then, they decided to do something despicable to the captured astrals?
So I introduce to you, my friends, the arena.
The astrals were all tossed into an arena and forced to fight each other for the entertainment of the dark stars, by the orders of Cetus.
The astrals gain new powers and abilities from the forced usage of dark star power, as well as a brand new set of purple eyes once under the control. Sometimes for fun, they’ll even throw them in there without the control to see what happens! They’re held in cages above the arena, and dropped down into the sands below whenever the dark stars are ready for a fight.
Gemini was apprehended first, being tricked by a note forged to be by Rez, promising he would meet up with them and negotiate turning over Cosmos (who will be referred to as Lunar moving forwards) to them, whom had gone missing from prison. They instead ran into Cetus, as well as a rather large amount of dark stars. They fought hard, but were taken down eventually.
Taurus was next. He went to go search for Gemini… but when he found them, they looked different.
They weren’t supposed to have purple eyes.
Taurus was taken. And then Leo, when he went to go find Taurus, went missing as well. Soon, all of the major astrals were captured… except for one.
Libra survived, as well as Nebula, who she saved from being captured. They do not know if there are any survivors, but they try their best to think of a plan and save everyone nonetheless.
They’re… trying their best.
Now, you may be wondering… how did this all happen? Well. I can answer that. Remember this episode?
In summary, it was the episode Rez broke Lunar out of jail against his will. Yep, fun times.
If you remember, Rez offered Lunar an interesting deal when he dropped him in Russia on Earth. Become a dark star. Become one of them. Become strong. Become special. Give yourself a purpose.
Lunar said no in canon. But this au is based around the concept of what if he said yes?
He was used for bait for Gemini, as mentioned earlier. Then, slowly, all of the other astrals were apprehended as well.
However, the dark stars didn’t entirely trust Lunar yet. He had yet to prove his loyalty, and he was still fantasizing over Gemini. So they put him to the test.
Kill Leo to prove your loyalty.
If you’re wondering, Leo died. And Lunar killed him. In front of all the captured main astrals.
Gemini and Taurus were not very happy, if you can imagine.
Anyways, then the arena was built, the astrals tossed in cages and forced to fight. Lunar had no knowledge of this, but when he did find out, well he wasn’t exactly fond of what was going on. But, you can find out what happened there in the fic!
As for the celestial family…
Only Sun and Monty have survived. They’re doing their best to figure out what’s going on and stop it before it’s too late. But by the day, they’re losing spirits.

Pre Redemption: Liked everything goth and emo. Favorite color: Purple. Obsessed with Salty foods such as pretzels and saltine crackers. Snarky and Sassy attitude. Things (he) did when (he) wasn't harrassing Ruin or working: Crafts- Various sculptures with popsicle sticks, structures with metal rods or pipes, crocheting, drawing, and constantly scrolling through various shopping websites for emo band merch. Relationships: D! Sun- Accomplice. Ruin- 'Servant'. The Celestial Family- Ex Brother. Hates Sun and Moon a lot, Dislikes Cosmo, Terra, and Monty, Doesn't care about Jack and Dazzle, Refuses to talk about and gets pissy when Solar is mentioned. Was just an asshole in general and often got pissy.
One day when he was working on something a thought ran through his head. 'What the hell am I doing?' He stopped and glanced down at a necklace Solar gave him before he got Thanos Snapped. It was a special necklace, it was a Sappire gem that was carved into the shape of a cresent moon, it had a bunch of charms on it, 2 stars, 2 suns, a heart, a sun bead that faded a blue color into orange, another into purple and blue, and a ball with 2 rings around it that were blue and yellow, the ball being green. Solar had handmade the necklace and gave it to him on Christmas. He's only ever taken it off when he made his current body (pre redemption). He sighed, then it hit him, he really f#cking missed Sun and Solar, along with Jack and Terra. He leaned back in his chair and just sat there.
Eventually he showed up at Sun and Moon's house. He stood there for a moment before gently knocking on the door. He waited, there were a lot of thoughts playing racecars in his head, 'what am I doing?' 'I should just leave..' 'What if they don't want me!'. He was about to turn around and leave when the door opened. There stood Solar. Nexus stood there for bit just staring at Solar, taking in every detail from his new body. Solar looked extrememly tired, Nexus could now see why as Jack and Dazzle were playing behind him. He looked back at Solar who just stared at him in confusion. He forgot he hasn't seen Solar yet. "Heyyy Solarr...?" Solar got even more confused on how Nexus knew his name. "It's me, Moon." Solar spoke up, looking behind him before turning back to look at Nexus. "Can you two calm down! anyways, you don't look like Moon.. But-" Solar paused, he noticed the necklace, then it hit him, this was Moon, *his* Moon. "Moo-" Nexus cut him off "Actually, it's Nexus now." Solar smirked "That is the most edgiest name I've heard of." Nexus frowned, wasn't really an angry frown, more so a pouting frown. "Shut up..." Solar chuckled. "Yeah yeah, ok Mr. Emo." His smirk got bigger. Nexus continued to pout. After a bit eventually Nexus got what he wanted. To be back in the family.
After Redemption: Still obsessed with Salty foods, but now refuses to eat preztels without cheese dip. (Moon showed them) Now goes by the pronouns of They/Them. Has a new body. (Which will be explained in further detail in Solar's bio) Enjoys binge-watching stuff and snacking with Moon. Adores Cleo and Muffin and loves playing with them as well as cuddling. They're favorite toy to play with the cats with is The Laser Pointer. They still enjoy the same hobbies. They are also still an Emo Twink. Their favorite colors are purple and orange. They're very playful, silly, and sassy, much like their N! Moon personality. Obsessed with Squids and Sloths. (They have a Squid plushie named Mecury that they sleep with). They constantly cuddle with Solar and play games with the family. Relationships: Sun, Terra, Moon, and Cosmo- Brother. Monty- Brother in Law. Dazzle- Uncle. Jack- Dad. Solar- Boyfriend. They are overall a fun and silly indivdual.

Basic Info:
Solar likes Maroon or Sunset colors, he like to munch on different types of salad and pasta. He's fascinated with Angler Fish and Thylacines, as well as cryptids and mythical beings. He's a huge anime and train nerd. He also has ADHD. He tends to hyperfixate on small details. (COUGH COUGH...nexus...COUGH COUGH) He enjoys messing and playing with (Air-Dry) Clay. (Sun uses the more dangerous kind, as in the one that if your not careful with can give you silicosis.) (YES I'M AN ART NERD, I'VE HAD THE CLASS THROUGHOUT JUNIOR HIGH AND CURRENTLY HIGH SCHOOL!!) (and obvisously elementry as it was a required class). He enjoys hanging out with Sun and Nexus, he gets along very well with Moon as they are both stubborn and sassy. He is a brother to Sun, Moon, Cosmo, and Terra, a brother-in-law to Monty, an Uncle to Dazzle, a dad to Jack, and a boyfriend to Nexus.
When Solar heard the knock on the door, he was confused, Moon was at work, Sun and Terra were out shopping and Monty was hanging out with Cosmo. Who could be knocking at this moment. He got up, the porch light
