I’ve been tagged by @themildestofwriters​, and it’s been sitting in my notifications for a few days. I tag anyone who would like to do it, a lot of people that I follow have already done it.

How to know you’re in a Rose A. Lacroix novel:

If you fuck up with nature, nature will fuck you up. Trust me.

Humans aren’t at the top of the food chain. There are lots of things out there that want to eat you.

Main characters have kick-ass adventures, but they’d rather stay home and chill.

Straight white guys are NPCs.

A soul can come from a dark place. What matters is what they do during their lifetime.

Here’s a test render for Astrid! No postwork, done in DAZ Studio>Reality>Luxrender, with one HDRI and one mesh light above the scene. Decided to stick with Reality, because I wasn’t happy with Iray’s results. Materials are easier to control in Reality, and it interprets light better in my opinion.

What I want to correct so far:

Lips are too shiny and a bit too dark (looks like she’s wearing lipstick).

Hair is too thin, shouldn't be that see-through.

HDRI picture resolution is too low, and lighting negates the shadows on the ground.

I miss Callad’s Reality light set, it’s not working anymore. Guess I should buy her new set and give it a try.

Remember when I said that I would stop fiddling with Astrid’s features? I LIED.

I had issues with her previous face, because of all the morphs I had to apply. There were creases at places where there shouldn't be, and correcting everything in ZBrush was a pain in the ass. That's when I remembered that I had a figure from a previous generation that had the right features for Astrid. It took me a while to make it work, but I transfered Genevieve 7's face morph to Genesis 8. From there I only changed her brow arch height, and eye shape.

Those clothes are better, but it's still not her definitive outfit.

Hey, guess who drastically changed the premiss of her WIP? Yup, that’s me. A long story short, I was pretty disinterested about the whole thing recently, and injecting new ideas got me motivated again.

The Aroostook Witch will be less traditional fantasy now, but something closer to magical realism. Without being that completely. Magic and the occult in general will be more subtle, less about flashy special effects.

I should update my WIP page, but I also want to make my website which should be fully responsive, so mobile-friendly. I unfortunately don’t have the time and energy to do that right now.

Starting my second week of school. Right now we’re learning about MySQL.

I’m trying to work about The Aroostook Witch, but so far I have trouble to find the right time to write. I have like one free hour in the morning and in the evening thanks to the bus ride, but before school my brain is still asleep, and after I need to relax so I’m just listening to music and stare into the void. When I get home I usually work a bit on what I learned during the day, prepare next day’s lunch, and go to bed.

I’m slowly brainstorming the beginning of Birds Of A Feather. Having a phone I’m comfortable to write on helps, it’s only baby steps but better than nothing at all. I’ll probably have more time after the first three months, when I’ll start working and will go to school only two weeks every month and a half. We’ll see :)

Just so that everyone know, I started school last Thursday. As I was working very slowly on The Aroostook Witch already, the process is going to be even longer than before, so updates aren’t going to happen often. I maintain activity of my Tumblr because I always have stuff into my queue, but I’m sorry if I don’t answer to tag games and things, I don’t really have the time for it.

The first three months are going to be intense, since I’m going to learn things I’ve never seen before. Algorithms, methodologies, coding languages... Not everyone has the same level in the class. There are several people like me, who are in professional retraining and are complete noobs, but others are already advanced coders who are interested by the degree and the permanent job contract, that you get at the end if you succeed. People seem to be motivated to help each other, so that’s a good thing. Makes me a bit less anxious lol
