the TAXX PAYERMONEY statue and other RUmINATIONS
I’ve had this 3D printed statue since 2016. In these pictures it’s a little dusty.
the statue is a stylized blocky version of a stock photo that I was originally using as my profile picture on youtube. It’s a pretty famous one, meant to depict a hacker, a guy in a ski mask with a laptop. I thought it was funny and I’ve always liked the romanticized goofy ideas of what people used to think hackers did.
A friend at school (I’ll call him Peelo although that is not his real name and sounds nothing like it) was very interested in my ideas for youtube projects that I would explain to him on the bus ride home. Peelo had been my next door neighbor for as long as I could remember, going back to early childhood, he is just someone who has always been in my life in his own way and he makes me laugh. He would also be the person to invite me to my first dungeons and dragons games where we would continue to bond as friends. Peelo’s family is from the country of Georgia, because of this he inherited many Georgian behaviors and customs that he would tell me about. The Georgian sense of humor is funny in an indescribable way. Peelo was a funny guy.
I would often ask Peelo if I could record our conversations and upload them to the channel but he was always weary of having anything non-professional involving him on the internet. He still wanted to support my new creative pursuit and happened to be in a high school class that, from my understanding, allowed him free unlimited access to a 3D printer. He had been using it to print custom DnD figures and offered to print the character in my profile picture. Previously he had only made smaller figures around two inches, I expected that to be the case with my figure. I was genuinely shocked when I saw how big it was, and it was solid plastic too, in fact, the reason for the colors is because the printer actually ran out of green plastic printing it because the figure was so big. I thought it was beautiful.
This is the inscription on the bottom, he included both of our names. The top part reads “TAXX PAYERMONEY figure was completed on 12/5/16” In addition to making the statue for me, Peelo would go on to help me film one of my first videos (which I have now set to private). I consider the giving of the statue to me to be the true start of that particular chapter of my life, it was very symbolic. Peelo’s statue became a source of power.
