Hey I just started following you and I already love it! So I typed out what Tom Holland said because I could understand through his accent because it was really thick in that video so here it is.
“So we’re back from work. A little update on the dog owner, should we give him a name? But we found the owner! The owner came forward. And we gave him back so he’s home and he’s happy, but I’m devastated ‘cause I thought I found my new best friend. I probably would’ve called him Arvin after the film, you know? But… *sniffles*”
I skipped over a little with my explanation as to why I wrote it out. I looked through your blog and saw the How To Weite Actual Deaf Characters from a Deaf person’s point of view; which is super frustrating for me even as a hearing friend because I’ve seen a lot of the errors with the writings in real life. For the part that I said about his “accent being thick” even for hearing people hearing the different announciations through the accents is difficult, in my family only my mom and I can do it so I see that happen a lot too.
Thank you friend for this!!! I struggle a lot with accents because I’m Deaf and American so listening to Tom speak is really hard. I really appreciate it when people look out for fellow Deafies and help us with subtitles to snaps or Insta stories.
I wanted to make a Deaf!Reader one-shot or story so I can show everyone how to write a Deaf person correctly but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. But please educate people if you can!!
Thank you again for being so nice and helpful for my little Deaf self
