When you lack trust in Allah, your love for Him will diminish as well. The first side effect of distrust is bitterness, then anger, then doubt, then abandonment. It's no secret that everyone of us will face multiple tragedies in life that will have no reasonable explanation. Not saying or doing anything that expresses a lack of trust is huge, but what is greater is to actually express trust even in your hardest moments. To thank Allah for what He hasnt taken away from you and praise Him for what He has protected you from that is unknown to you is a station reached only by few. To prepare for that moment you have to actively build your trust on a daily basis.
You praise Allah for traffic (I know sounds crazy right), for a flu, etc. That prepares you for the car accident you may be involved in one day and a greater disease you may be afflicted with later on in life. And that praise that you express even in those moments could be the reason you are granted a "house of praise" in Paradise for all of eternity.
But you have to build that trust, prepare for that moment, and rise to the occasion when it presents itself.
As Imam Ibn Taymiyya (ra) said "Trust comes before tragedy occurs, where as contentment is realized after it has passed."
May Allah grant us all the capacity to trust, thank, and love Him always. ameen
