kravitz has a skull mask that he summons over his face when he’s On Business. sometimes its a human skull, other times its a bird skull, other times a bat skull, a dog skull.....

people think it’s his True Face and hes very spooky. its very ambiguous if hes giving himself a glamour or removing one.

then at some point after he n taako start dating, taako is on a run to the grocery mart when he runs into kravitz taking care of some Business and hes like KRAV MY MAN! and kravitz is like ! and he just. removes the mask, and theres his face, surprised but (as always) delighted to see him.

taako idly asks about it (”oh so did i just see your real face?”), and it turns out that it’s just a mask he bought once that could shift shapes depending on the mood.

and taako’s like “ahhhh i get it. cursed artifact. i know how it is.”

“oh, uh, no i just really like it. so i spellbound it to me.”

kravitz, despite appearances and powers, is just a regularboy. and a dweeb.

some thoughts for you

when sloane has really intense dreams, she’ll wake up surrounded by plants. hurley finds it kind of annoying but also very cute

taako gets kravitz a bouquet and makes it so that each of the flowers light up! they glow… its very cool and magical

once or twice half the coven (taako lup sloane hurley carey johann etc) get really fucking stoned and try to smoke incense

it doesn’t go great.

killian is obsessed with wanting to find some way to talk to her and carey’s cat. please. she just wants to talk to it,

theres some sort of subplot involving a love potion.

honest to god i have like. no fucking clue whats going on in tazuf. except that sloane has plant powers n taako has neon light stuff. auras? i know that its less component-based magic than i usually do. more casual. a coven that’s more of a... club. a team. they dont really work on anything together, theyre just a friendgroup

also i thought it might be less centrally located? they have and use cars.

i think kravitz isnt from the main city... idk if hes from somewhere else or if hes a reaper or sth. maybe hes just a regular old bounty hunter. but then again, less centralization of power... no resident witch, like in fairhaven.

i just know that theres somethin that has a meet ugly! idk! no rules just right just neon!

the only person in tazuf who takes tazuf seriously is angus, the coven apprentice. he wants to solve mysteries and learn the secret arcane arts! (he can learn the arcane arts by running errands with taako and lup. are they buying any magical items or potions? nah they’re just getting some more ice cream since theyre out. but being in their auras has gotta count for something, right?)

big difference between fairhaven and taz uf au

scenario: something is mysteriously, spookily, and worryingly on fire

fai: shit! i need to fulfill my responsibilities as resident witch, and also im an altruistic soul by nature. let me scribble down some charms - syaoran, could you research-? sakura, help me channel what happened here and also brighten my life. kurogane, i have emotional issues.

difference between fairhaven (my clamp urban fantasy setting) and my taz urban fantasy setting (not yet named) is that taz is very much… in your face.

fairhaven had nothing to hide, but it was pastels and domesticity, taking care of things, fai keeping the town tidy. spell components and chores. keeping a garden, making the rounds. potions and charms and prepared spells, full kitchen cabinets and bookshelves. comforting customs.

taz uf au is less concerned with keeping the peace than with doing the shit. hey yall want some fuckin… spells? what the fuck. hey look at this magic shit, fuckin ballerrrrr. brighter colors and being non-obvious. strolling by fuckups if they’re not your fault and don’t affect you. big physical magic, stuff to show off. tangible.

lying unless you can’t, less concern with secrecy because there may be none at all? potions in reused soda bottles and tupperware. not that many potions, actually - it’s very much DO THE SHIT!!!! FUCK IT’S ON FIRE

also less concentration on the town - a lot more driving around and not just on jobs or to collect ingredients.

can’t decide if the majority of characters are just gonna be magic users and/or people w professions, or if im gonna go the way i usually do and have nature spirits, werewolves, demons… hmmm.

i know i want a coven that’s more like a hangout group than anything else - i want ren as taako’s apprentice, but unlike fairhaven where sakura was basically fai’s adopted daughter/sister, they have appointed lessons and ren calls taako if she needs advice on something. angus is gonna be elsewhere, i think - he likes bookier magic while taako is more “yeah just like… think about it real hard i guess? lmfao”
