Hunter: He adores them and spends a lot of time holding them. Hunter is also really big on the whole skin-to-skin contact, so it becomes a common thing to see him walking around shirtless with the baby cradled snugly in one arm. He gets pretty good at performing tasks around the home with the baby. He's enraptured by the little one, but also very attentive to your needs. Hunter makes sure you take the time you need to eat, shower, and just have time to relax every now and then. Literally, any excuse to hold them some more, and he's giving it. He is good at rocking the baby in such a way that they fall asleep instantly in his arms.
Wrecker: The baby has him wrapped around their tiny finger already. He's already telling them how much he loves them and how proud he is. Wrecker also just spends time telling them all the fun things they're going to do together when they're old enough to walk, talk, etc. He is so unbelievably gentle and sweet with the little one in general, and also of course with you. He'll randomly stare at you and tell you how beautiful you are and what a good job you're doing.
Tech: This baby is not at the point where they can retain any information yet, but Tech spends plenty of time just talking to them. He talks about anything his mind can conjure up. The baby becomes so accustomed to the sound of his voice that it has quite the soothing effect. Additionally, Tech is very quick to pick up on the baby's cycle of needs. It gets to the point where they cry, and he can glance at his chrono and pinpoint exactly what they need according to the little schedule he's created. He also regularly checks the baby's weight, vitals, to make sure they're in good health. From time to time he voices yet again how fascinating the miracle of birth is and how proud he is of you, also checking your health.
Echo: Spends the first few weeks only holding the baby when sitting down. He can't get over how fragile they are, and he just sits there and stares at them as long as he can in amazement and adoration before they wake up from their nap or fuss about something they need. When the baby bursts into a fit of wails, he goes into a bit of a panic mode worrying about what's wrong. Eventually, he gets more comfortable and gets used to the idea that the baby is just communicating a need. It doesn't take long for him to become a professional dad. He gets pretty organized with the diaper bag and supplies so that he can just pull out whatever the baby needs at the drop of a hat.
Crosshair: He spends a good while just quietly holding the baby in his arms and watching them. Internally, he thinks they're absolutely precious and realizes he loves them so much. He already knew he'd love them, but he didn't realize it would feel like this. The baby is heart-wrenchingly cute, and he'd do anything to protect them. You come to find that he becomes more vocal, telling the baby in a sort of Crosshair-style sarcasm that they need to get their act together every time he has to handle a diaper change, feeding, etc. He's up with you at any hour day or night to help with the baby without a complaint, and regularly makes sure you're taking care of yourself also.
You’d think he’s enjoying his time off, but he can’t quite turn off his protective instincts. Force of habit
Keeps a watchful eye on everyone, his weapons are close by
Did bring a speaker (at Wrecker’s request) and is playing some soft rock music to which he’s nodding along
Whatever Omega wants, Omega gets. A floatie? Done. Ice cream? He’s already on his way to get her some
It takes a few attempts to get him to join the others, but he’s mainly there to reapply Omega’s sunscreen for her
He’s happy to look at the castle when it’s finished (rates it 10/10 and Omega insists he’s biased)
Looks insanely hot with a tan but has to take off his bandana or else he’ll get a line on his forehead lmao
Crosshair
Sulks in the shade next to Tech and acts like he’s too cool to be bothered with a childish activity such as building sandcastles
But deep down hopes the others ask him to join. He’d never admit it tho
Will throw in some educated guesses here and there when he sees you and Tech doing a crossword puzzle
There’s something about seeing Omega having so much fun that just warms his heart, he can’t stop staring at her
Pretends not to look when she notices but we all know he’s a proud dad
Will cherish the shell she gives him for the rest of his life
Finds a quiet spot nearby to meditate around sunset, especially when the others are getting too loud (he doesn’t vibe with Hunter’s music choices)
Regrets not joining the castle building and tells himself to do it next time
Omega
Sandcastle time!!!
She’s having the time of her life. Can’t stop talking about it on the way to the beach
Wrecker and her immediately get to work
Tries to get Hunter to join their fun but is disappointed when he only comes to put some more sunscreen on her
Totally in awe of everything since she’s never really had the beach experience before
Definitely fills her pockets with pretty stones and shells
Gifts everyone a shell to match their personality
Wrecker
Busy building a sandcastle with Omega
Ends up smashing it Godzilla style before leaving the beach (when she’s not looking ofc)
Will eat all the snacks when nobody’s around
Spots a fish or crab or something and decides to catch it for the castle
“Look, I caught our king!”
Goes home with a few cuts and a newfound fear of crustaceans
Tech
In charge of the snacks. He’s guarding them with his life so Wrecker won’t eat them all
Doomscrolling on his datapad under the parasol
Kinda doesn’t relax? Don’t get me wrong, he’s enjoying himself, he just can’t hang out when he could very well use his brain to code or something instead
Is happy about the ice cream and engages in lively conversation with Hunter and Echo when they return but goes right back to scrolling when they’re finished
Will do crossword puzzles or sudoku with you if you ask nicely (don’t be surprised if he knows the answers to everything)
Echo
Sentimental mode activated
He’s sitting next to Hunter, just taking it all in as if he’s never been to the beach before (somebody spoil him and give him everything he wants pls)
Yk the last headcanon I posted? About the 501st at the beach? Yeah, he definitely thinks about those times when he’s with Omega & co
So yeah, when the sun sets on the water and it’s not Jesse and Hardcase in front of him but Omega and Wrecker, he blinks away a few tears
Still has the photo he took with Jesse’s camera on his datapad btw
But all in all, as much as it is a bittersweet feeling, he’s happy to be spending it with his new squad, no matter the circumstances
Goes with Hunter to get the ice cream and tells him about his last beach day and how much it means to him to be here
Will definitely give Rex a call afterwards, for old times’ sake
Commander Wolffe x F!Reader
Part 3 continuation of a request for Wolffe and Reader dealing with an unplanned pregnancy.
Warnings: vague discussions of pregnancy/birth, Order 66, canon typical violence/death, angst
What should be celebration ends in darkness as the clones turn on your fellow jedi. The Repulic falls and the Empire rises in its place. You don't know what's become of you're beloved Commander.
Part Three - Despite It All
What should have been a day of celebration ended in fire. The end of the war had been at hand. Count Dooku was dead, the Chancellor was safe thanks to Anakin, Obi-Wan was on General Grevious’ trail and Ahsoka had even managed to capture Darth Maul and help Bo Katan retake Mandalore. You had felt relieved for the first time in ages. Looking out over the Coruscant skyline you had hope. Hope your babes would see peacetime instead of war, that Wolffe and the others would see a life beyond service to the Republic.
Then there was darkness, as if everyone you had previously felt in the force were gone, their light snuffed out at once. Your cry rang out in the empty council chamber as your entire being mourned. By the time you had gathered yourself enough to realize what had happened the clones were already on the steps of the temple.
In a daze you flee the blaster fire and flames with your cloak drawn close around the swell of your belly. Your heart breaks further still with each friend you find cold and still. Returning to the force should be joyous but this was anything but. How could this have happened? It’s like losing a part of your soul as you look back at the burning temple, the only home you had every known ripped away. You do your best to hold back tears as you descend into the bowels of Coruscant. The temple – the Jedi – were your past now, and your future lay in two faint heartbeats.
The world changes rapidly around you in the days that follow. An Empire reborn out of the Republic on the bones of the “treasonous” Jedi. The color quickly fades out of the armor of the clones you spot prowling the streets. That alone speaks to what had gone wrong, that the betrayal may not have been their choice to make. It soothes your open wounds, if only just a little. You try not to wonder what happened to Wolffe or where he is now – or who he is. More than once you reach out in the force, tugging on the old link to your master and only find empty space on the other side.
It’s such an odd realization. You had never been alone in the world before. Before the Jedi, whispers of a memory of a birth family, the halls filled with your fellow younglings, eager students learning and training side by side, then your master in all his wisdom before Wolffe and the others joined the picture. In an instant that was gone, left in hostile territory, ready to give birth any day now. There was no way off Coruscant without being spotted, at least not with your limited resources. You could not risk it. Instead, you struggled to get by and remain nameless in the depths of the planet. Most this far down didn’t care who you were so long as you weren’t in their way. It was a blessing, but it also meant no one would stick their neck out for you either, until you met the Martez sisters. The Corrie Guard had been getting close. You weren’t sure if they were after you or after any other survivors who had the same idea of disappearing into the sea of people below the glittering façade of Coruscant, but there had been too many close encounters lately. You had ducked into what you’d prayed was an unoccupied hanger and come face to face with Trace. Anyone else would have turned you away, her sister even tried but Trace reminded her that someone had stood up and helped them out when they needed it most, so they needed to help you. It was the best accident that could have happened – other than maybe the twins – or maybe it was predestined in the Force. Either way the Martez sisters were a blessing that led you straight to Rex.
It was a small flicker of hope to see him again, a small flame in the vast void.
He also filled in the many blanks as to what led to both your current predicaments. The clones, the Kaminoans, and a chip. You had always enjoyed Five’s company when you were deployed with the 501st, it broke your heart to know he had died trying to warn everyone of the truth. But thanks to him, Rex knew and now you had another glimmer of hope. This order could be fixed. Rex was back to his usual self now that his chip had been removed – others could be too. Rex on the other hand was more concerned about getting you somewhere safe enough to have the babies. He promised you he would. In true Rex fashion he delivered. How he managed to find a senator willing to help you, you would never know, but he did so just in time.
Senator Chuchi and Rex got you off Coruscant and to a trusted doctor just as your water broke. He stayed by your side the whole time and was the first person to hold both your daughters. Rena and Cerria. Rex was incredible but he was not Wolffe. Rex and the others would write off your tears as joy or exhaustion, but they were for your broken heart – broken dreams. And so, you gave yourself a moment to mourn Wolffe alongside all the others you lost before Rex placed your daughters in your arms. The future you imagined may be gone but you still had their futures to protect.
Once all was settled, both you and the girls were deemed healthy, Rex explained what his plans were. He could not stand by and let his brothers remain under the thumb of the Empire. There were a few clones who had already deserted and joined his cause. They had support from a handful of sympathetic senators – which explained why Chuchi put so much on the line to help you get out- and had leads on other clones who were being imprisoned or experimented on. You wondered at how noble he was – he had already given so much – put his life on the line and yet he still wanted to do more. There would be no thanks standing against an Empire. No one cared what happened to the clones now that the war was over. To the powers that be, they were disposable. That made your blood boil. Anger was not befitting of a jedi, but you hadn’t been a model jedi in a long time. You couldn’t stand by either. It was one small way to fight back against the Empire but it was a battle worth fighting.
Rex was a born leader; it did not take long for a handful of clones to become a squad. Boosting ships and supplies from Imperial bases became a day-to-day occurrence. Next came the base in an old mountain top monastery. It wasn’t the ideal place to raise two infants, but you made it work. Everyone on the rag tag team considered you three family. Your daughters would grow up surrounded by uncles. They were always happy to help after a bit of guidance. What they lacked in experience around babies they made up for in enthusiasm. It warmed your heart to see Howzer or Fireball with one of the girls in a sling, talking to them about anything and everything as they went about their duties. Gregor made it his lot in life to concoct the best baby food by the time the twins were old enough to move onto more solid foods. Echo was a sucker for tummy time, he could let them sleep on him, skin to skin, for days if you let him. The domesticity of it all lets you forget your new reality some days. But you couldn’t ignore it for long.
Rex had taken a small squad with him to Coruscant to protect a secret meeting between Senator Chuchi and former Separatist Senator Singh. From their report it had ended fairly quickly. Some sort of assassin had interrupted with a bang. Everyone got out safely and Rex’s team even managed to subdue and capture the agent. It was a prime opportunity. Rex was dead set on getting more info on the elusive Tantiss Base and this agent could be the key, so they brought him back to base. While no one had much luck breaking him for interrogation, Fireball was able to decrypt his data puck, revealing a target register. Senator Singh wasn’t a surprise, but the second target concerned Rex greatly. A young female clone named Omega. You hadn’t met her yourself, but Echo had plenty of stories to share since the Bad Batch took her on the run with them at the end of the war.
You agreed with Rex bringing Omega and the rest of the Bad Batch to base, you needed to know why a child was wanted by the Empire, but Howzer was agitated. He had history with Crosshair he hadn’t had the chance to put behind him yet. You nervously paced the control room, one babe in a sling across your chest, the other across your back as Rex and Howzer went to meet Echo’s ship. Fireball looked on in disappointment at your need to have both your girls close for the time being.
When the doors slid open you could rest a little easier, the two “defective” clones walking in with Rex and Howzer were still in one peace – for now.
“Your numbers are growing-“ the one with the face tattoo marveled – Hunter if you remembered Echo’s stories correctly. His sharp gaze landed on you, but he chose not to ask.
“Well, we need all the help we can get. Once we find the exact coordinates of the Tantiss Base, we have to hit it hard if we’re gonna pull our brothers out of there.” Of the many issues that plagued Rex, which seemed to be a the front of his mind most often these days. “I have questions about the facility, but that’s not the only reason why I sent for you. We recovered a target list from an Imperial operative. And Omega’s on it.” Rex tossed the puck to Hunter.
The other clone shakes his head – Crosshair you assumed by the tattoo around his eye. “Not a surprise. She escaped Imperial custody.”
“So did you. But you’re not on the list.” Howzer snaps.
“Guess I’m not as valuable to them.”
“Or you’re feeding them information.”
“You’re gonna have to back down, Captain,” Hunter steps between the pair.
“You expect us to believe he was held on Tantiss of months, but he doesn’t know how to get back there?”
“Howzer-“ you reach out but Howzer just shakes you off.
Crosshair wasn’t having it either, getting right up in the captain’s face, “whether you believe me or not, it’s the truth. But I’m not loyal to the Empire any longer.”
“You squad may trust you. But I don’t.”
“He’s telling the truth,” you may not act like a jedi these days but that didn’t mean you’d forgotten how to read a force signature. Crosshair held no ill intent; he was telling the truth.
Howzer rolls his eyes as Rex chuckles. “Advantages of having a jedi around.”
“Jedi?” Crosshair and Hunter stare back at you, wide eyed.
Rex introduces you just as the rest of their team joins the party.
“What’s going on?” Omega looked around with a curious glint in her eyes.
Crosshair was the direct type it would seem, “the Empire’s targeting you again.”
The larger brother, Wrecker, laughs. “No surprise there.”
“Why were they after you before?” Rex asks. You couldn’t imagine what the Imperials would need a young clone for.
“To force Nala Se to cooperate and conduct certain experiments.”
A bone chilling answer. What were they doing that was so awful or dangerous they had to force a Kaminoan onto the project?
“Which were what?”
Omega looks down, “she was working on something involving M-count. I don’t know what that means but they were taking blood samples from everyone, even me.”
Concern bloomed into terror. Judging by Rex’s step back you could assume he understood the ramifications as well. Nala Se was a master cloner and if the Empire was forcing her to work on an experiment pertaining to midichlorians after the jedi had been massacred… the implications made you start pacing again.
“M-count?”
“You know what that is?” asks Hunter.
“Well, I’ve heard it mentioned before. But I can’t say for sure.” Rex dodges Hunter’s gaze, kneeling to Omega’s level. “What else can you tell us?”
“When we escaped, there wasn’t enough time to free the other clones. We have to find a way to get them out.”
Rex was sincere as he comforted Omega. “We will.”
Fireball came back into the control room, grin on his face. “Chow time. Gregor’s recipe with a few of my own spicy modifications.”
Wonderful.
Wrecker chuckles, apparently all for it. “Oh, now you’re talking.”
“Wait,” Crosshair interjects, “there’s more you should know… not all of the clones on Tantiss are prisoners. Some are loyal to the Empire. There is a division of clones trained as specialized operatives and initiated into a secret deep cover program run by Hemlock. Their identities are erased. They undergo conditioning. The few that make it through come out different.”
Que more suspicious Howzer. “If the program’s so secretive, how do you know about it?”
“Because they tried to make me into one of them.”
“Tried?”
“It didn’t work. Being defective is in my nature.”
“You’ve encountered one before. The assassin on Coruscant,” Hunter adds.
“We’ve known they existed but never knew exactly what they were,” Rex admits.
“What aren’t you telling us?”
“We captured one. I’ve tried questioning him, but he hasn’t been very cooperative.”
If what Crosshair said was true, it would explain why no one had any luck getting more information out of him.
“You have one here? Alive?” Crosshair sounded more concerned than surprised.
Rex nods.
“Impossible. The Empire would be on top of us already. They have ways of tracking their operatives.”
“I had them double check the scanner. No trackers or beacons,” you add, “they shouldn’t be able to find him or us.”
“It’s not the kind of tracker your scans would pick up. Hemlock’s smarter than that,” Crosshair practically hisses back.
“Where’s the operative?” Hunter asks, “show us.”
Rex grimly agrees and leads Hunter and Crosshair further into the command post.
While they deal with that situation you help Fireball dish up dinner. Wrecker digs in with the vengeance of a man starved while Omega shares a part of her portion with her lurca hound. You’re just about to probe Omega further on Nala Se’s experiments when an explosion rocks the monastery.
“Shit,” you pull Omega down to the floor with you as shots cut through the smoke. You can feel both the girls stir in their slings, harshly woken from their sleep. The last place you needed them to start crying was the middle of a fire fight. You soothe them as best you can, sending calm through your connection in the force. They settle, but you won’t be able to hold the same level of concentration and fight at the same time.
“We got a shooter out here!” Wrecker shouts as Rex tries to re-enter the control room. Throwing on his bucket the tank of a clone returns fire.
Rex and the others duck in, finding cover behind storage crates.
“Shots coming from the back of the room!” Omega calls out.
“Nemec, we need to get comms online.” Rex starts barking out orders. Nemec crawls toward the mail control hub.
Omega turns to you, “what do we do?”
Before you can answer, the shooter hits the control hub causing it to explode, sending Nemec flying.
“Backup plan. Into the command post!” Rex shouts, “I’ll cover you.”
You and Hunter reach for Omega at the same time, ushering her further back into the base.
“Go!” Rex leaps up, laying down cover fire before Fireball rolls in with a flamethrower. Just as everyone makes it to cover another explosion rocks the tower.
“What the-“ Rex dives into the room just as part of the ceiling falls in.
The entire grid for the base must have been damaged in the explosion, the lights die, plunging you all into darkness.
Hunter and Crosshair whip out flashlights as Omega helps Rex up. He turns to you, concern rolling off his signature in waves. “Are the girls, okay?”
You nod, “we’re fine. I’m keeping them calm for now but I’m not sure how long I can manage.”
“Understood. We need to get moving before their reinforcements get here.”
“Is there another way off this spire? Hunter asks.
You and Rex chuckle in unison, “there’s always another way.” He kicks over some spare containers to reveal one of the many escape tunnels he had added as soon as the group moved into the base. Everyone files down the ladder into the spiral staircase below.
“Our leech vessel is docked about ten levels down,” Rex explains.
Howzer sighs, “doesn’t have a hyperdrive though. We won’t get far.”
Rex shakes his head, “no, but we can use it to contact Echo.” Hopefully, Echo gets back to base fast enough to get everyone off world.
The never-ending staircase has you dizzy nearly immediately, exactly why no one ever used them. You try to ignore your unsettled stomach and focus on your girls. They just needed to keep sleeping long enough to get to the ship.
“The ship’s docked just down this corridor.”
“Stop,” Crosshair barks out.
Nemec looks over, “what is it?”
Crosshair points down the spire, more flashlight beams were moving down below. “They’re coming.”
Out of nowhere a shot rings out from above, everyone presses themselves against the wall. Nemec and Rex plant themselves at your side, blasters ready.
Crosshair looks up, “I’ll handle it.”
Everyone takes it as the que to get moving while the sniper stays behind.
Thankfully, the ship isn’t much further. Wrecker seals the hatch as Crosshair catches up.
Rex slides into the pilot’s seat and you slide into the copilot’s chair, powering on the ship as fast as your fingers can work out the sequence.
Everyone piles in, the hound included, who seems fond of Nemec, licking him once his buckets off. “Get down. Off!”
“Don’t worry, she only bites half of the time,” Omega giggles.
“Great.”
Rex calls over his shoulder, “prepare to launch!”
Rena starts to cry at your back as the engine roars to life. Moments after takeoff two shots hit the engine, you can feel the ship losing altitude beneath you. Cerria’s cries join her sisters as alarms start blaring on every control panel.
Rex opens the comms, “Remora-one, we’ve been compromised. Heading to marker 0-2-5 for an extraction. Repeat. Marker 0-2-5.”
Neither you nor Rex can get the ship to course correct, “we’re going down, strap in.” Rex helps you swing Rena’s wrap around to the front so you can curl yourself around both your daughters’ moments before impact.
It’s a rough crash – hitting the jungle tree line first before the ground. When you finally realize the ship has stopped it takes longer than you would like to gather yourself. It has been some time since your last crash landed with Anakin piloting. The alarms have stopped ringing but both Rena and Cerria are wailing in your arms. The smell of smoke and Rex calling your name finally pull you out of your daze. He and Hunter help you climb out of the wreck.
Crosshair and the others are quick to set up a small perimeter, blasters aimed into the dark jungle, but Wrecker looks back over his shoulder at you. “Are the babies, okay?”
Howzer lifts Cerria out of the sling, quick to look her over for any bumps or bruises while you try to bounce Rena into some sort of calm state. “Scared and shaken up, but they’re alright.”
Wrecker smiles back, “oh good.”
After Crosshair is done checking on Omega, Howzer helps you get the girls situated in their wraps. You knew it was a good sign they were heavy against your chest- they were happy, healthy, well-fed babies- but your whole body ached from the crash and made you wish they were a few months younger and smaller. Instead of focusing on the pain you try and concentrate on lulling them back to sleep. The more soothing and sleepy vibes through the force, the better.
“Echo should meet us at the extraction point. We’ll have to continue on foot.” Rex explains.
“How far?” Hunter asks.
“Five klicks north,” Nemec points out a path northward.
Hunter’s gaze jerks up into the tree line, “we’ve got attack shuttles inbound.”
“This way!” Rex shouts before leading the way deeper into the trees as the Imperial ships hover above the crash site.
As the jungle gets denser, you are forced to march in single file. Rex places you in between him and Hunter, “just in case.” But it makes you nervous when you overhear Crosshair and Howzer talking in the back.
“Well… you’re different than you were on Ryloth. So, what changed?”
“Loyalty meant something to me. But with the Empire, it didn’t go both ways. I realized how disposable I was.”
“You’re not the only one.”
They fall silent after that.
Your ragtag squad thought you could breathe a sigh of relief once you reached the ravine. Batcher and Hunter pick up on the sound of an incoming ship as you reach the edge of the jungle. Everyone ducks for cover as soldiers repel out of the ship.
“We have to knock through their line to reach the extraction point,” Rex shouts, blasters drawn.
Omega reaches into her pack, “we’ve got these.”
Hunter and Wrecker launch the smoke bombs without hesitation. Makes you wish you had a bucket to filter out the smoke, the best you can do is cover your mouth and nose with your sleeve. You motion for Omega to do the same. Crosshair pulls your and Omega close when the shouting starts, “stick by my side and stay down.”
It’s hard to distinguish who’s fighting who in the haze but everyone in the group makes it though the line. Once in the clear, Crosshair manages to shoot down their ship.
“How much further to the landing zone?” Hunter asks.
“Just ahead. Almost there.”
Everyone is on full alert as you close in on the goal. Crosshair suddenly turns, rifle at the ready.
“What is it?”
A shot comes out of the tree line before Crosshair can answer, knocking Nemec down. The rest of the team rushes back to cover as Crosshair returns fire.
“Nemec!”
“I’ll draw his fire. Get to the rendezvous.”
Omega comms back, “I don’t like that idea.”
“Too bad,” Crosshair snarks before he rushes off.
You have to drag Omega along as Rex ushers everyone to get moving. The sound of the firefight echoes behind you. Then in the blink of an eye Crosshair and the assassin are in the river.
It’s Howzer who makes it to Crosshair first, pulling him out of the water as the assassin goes over the edge of the waterfall.
Despite it all, it’s not Echo waiting at the extraction point. Batcher barks at the Imperial ship as it lowers the loading ramp.
Your breath catches in your chest. You can feel him, even before you lay eyes on him. But its not quite him. It feels like there’s something between his force signature and yours that wasn’t there before.
Wolffe has a full squadron with him. They vastly outnumber those of you that made it this far. No one is ready to give up just yet though, forming up, blasters and crossbow ready. You don’t reach for your blaster or your saber. You plant yourself next to Rex as Wolffe descends from the ship.
“Drop your blasters. Now!”
It takes Rex a beat to recognize him, “Wolffe?”
“Rex?” And then his gaze falls on you. You yearn to hear your name on his lips again, but your commander falls silent.
Rex lowers his blasters and pulls off his helmet.
Wolffe slowly lowers his own weapons. “I- I thought you were dead. Reports said you were killed in action. That you went down aboard an attack cruiser.” Next comes his bucket.
He looks the same as you last saw him – but it is not the same man who stands before you. He’s something different now. His gaze on you and your daughters is hard as durasteel. You can’t look away either.
“Oh, I did. I lost a lot of good men that day. And today.”
“What are you doing here? Don’t tell me you’re fighting against us.”
Rex shakes his head, “no. Not against you. Against the Empire. They’re imprisoning and experimenting on our brothers, killed others. Forced us to slaughter the Jedi.” Rex’s hand finds your own, a measure of comfort in your shared grief.
“The Empire wouldn’t do that to us.”
“She has seen it.”
Omega lowers her crossbow. “It’s true. That’s what’s happening on Tantiss.”
Wolffe’s frown deepens. You can feel his inner conflict.
“We have to stop them,” Rex steps forward, “you can help us. You can stand with us.”
He looks straight at you, voice firm, “I am a soldier of the Empire.”
You didn’t think your heart could break any further than it already had but Wolffe managed just that.
“I have my orders. Hand the girl over and I’ll make sure you’re given a fair trial.”
Batcher snarls behind you. “Like the Jedi received a fair trial?” you snap, “no, the Empire – the Sith – will never play fair when you stand against them.”
“That about what you’re doing, Wolffe. I know you’ve been trained not to question orders, but open your eyes. You have a chance at a new beginning, a future not all of us will be lucky enough to experience, and here you are hunting a child. I know that’s not who you are. We know that’s not who you are.”
The conflict flares back up again, but his face drops.
“As your brother, I’m asking you to do the right thing.” Rex’s comm goes off at just the right moment.
“Sir, there’s an unmarked vessel inbound,” reports one of Wolffe’s commandos.
Echo’s ship comes in hot behind you.
Wolffe’s gaze finally leaves you. “Commander?” He shakes his head, “stand down.”
Rex nods at his brother before leading you up the ramp and away from the father of your children. You cannot bear to look back as the ramp seals shut behind you.

Prompt - "Well, I’m sorry I fell in love with you, okay? But it happened and I can’t do anything about it.” “You... What?” & "I never wanted anyone to feel bad for me, especially not you"
The sun streaming through the windows did little to fight against the coldness he felt, he knew the room was warm, he knew the cold he felt deep in his bones wasn’t there and yet he couldn’t fight the shivers that wracked his body. It didn’t matter that he could see the small room his brother’s had shown him to once they landed on the planet, in his mind he was still there, still in that cold, small cell with no hope of escaping.
He’d been there for so long, long enough that he had lost track of the days. He could have planned an escape, could have made some attempt to leave their torture but what for? There was nothing waiting for him outside of his cell anymore.
Gone was his relationship with his brothers, gone was the easy back and forth banter with Wrecker, gone were the late night talks with Hunter, gone were the days him and Tech would sit together, his brother’s voice filling the silence without expecting anything back from Crosshair, gone was Echo’s steady presence, at his side whenever he needed it.
Gone were you.
Gone were the early mornings when the rest of his brothers were still asleep, only you and Crosshair awake in the cockpit holding a warm cup of caff and filling the space with softly spoken conversation. Gone were the days spent trying to stick by your side, gone were the stolen glances and lingering touches, gone was sneaking away after missions to explore together, gone were the chances he took to watch you smile, gone was the promise he’d tell you how he felt tomorrow.
Crosshair had run out of tomorrow’s a long time ago.
After all he had done, all the pain he had put his brothers through, the pain he had put you through, this was the least he deserved.
And so when the chance came to make his escape, to leave the pain and the torture behind he hesitated. The cell door was open, it would be so easy to leave and yet he hesitated.
If the kid hadn’t been there, if her life didn’t depend on him getting her out he knows he would have stayed where he was, he would have rotted in that cell for as long as they decided he was useful alive.
Now he was free and somehow he felt more confined than ever. It wasn’t just because Hunter wouldn’t take his eyes off him, it wasn’t because Wrecker hovered or the fact Omega had seemed to attach herself to him. It didn’t even have anything to do with the fact that you were here, stars above Crosshair couldn’t think of a time he would ever have ignored your presence and yet now he did everything to stay away from you, not able to face you yet.
No, it wasn’t because of you or his brothers that Crosshair felt confined. It was because he didn’t deserve this freedom, in his head he was still in the cold cell, destined to rot away.
Crosshair stood from the floor, unable to lay there any longer. The room had a bed tucked against the wall but Crosshair had only managed about ten minutes of tossing and turning on it before he gave the bed up for the floor, the bed too soft compared to what he had become used to.
Everyone else was still asleep as he made his way outside, no real destination in mind. His feet carried him through side streets until they grew sore and only then did he make his way back, stopping not too far away from where the others were to sit on the sand, the sun shining blindingly on the water.
He didn’t deserve to be here.
“I used to come here.” A voice interrupted him some time later, a voice he recognised all too well. “It’s quiet, no one ever comes here.”
Crosshair didn’t turn to look at you, he couldn’t bring himself to do it but when you sat next to him it was too much. He went to stand but your hand softly grabbing his stopped him.
“Please stop running away.” You pleaded softly and Crosshair didn’t have to look at you to know your eyes were teary but he did anyway, his heart aching for having made you this way.
“I can’t do this.” He told you quietly, forcing his gaze away from yours and looking back out at the water.
“I don’t know what happened to you,” You said after a moment's silence and Crosshair balled his hand into a fist, silently begging you to stop talking. “I don’t know what they did to you and you don’t have to tell me but-”
“But nothing.” He spat angrily, glaring at the sea and instantly hating himself for lashing out at you, so he tried again, softer this time. “But nothing. What they did to me was nothing less than I deserved.”
“Don’t say that.” You said, head shaking as you tried to compose yourself.
“It’s the truth, I tried to kill you, kill my brothers…I hurt you all and for what? For the Empire to throw my loyalty in my face.” Crosshair shrugged.
“For what it’s worth, I never gave up on you.” You told Crosshair, looking away from him as you spoke. “It didn’t matter what you did, how far you strayed from us, I never gave up on you.”
“You should have.” He muttered. “Everyone else did, Hunter doesn’t trust me, Wrecker wants to but he knows I’m nothing more than a lost cause.”
“That’s not true. Hunter’s just being Hunter, he needs time to adjust, needs time to figure things out in his head and then he’ll want to talk to you. Yeah you’re both gonna throw out words you don’t mean, maybe a punch or two but after that…it’s Hunter, he’s glad you’re back. As for Wrecker he wants to come to you, you know that as much as I do but he’s scared, he doesn’t want to spook you so he’s waiting for you to make the first move.” You explained, keeping your voice soft, not turning to face Crosshair as he turned to look at you.
“What about you?” He finally asked, voice barely above a whisper.
“I was with Wrecker. I kept my distance and waited to see what your move was. Turns out your move was to avoid everyone.” You laughed and Crosshair felt himself relax a little, the sound one
he hadn't heard in so long and it somehow managed to push out some of the cold he felt. “I feel for you, Cross, I do. Stars only know what the Empire did to you but you’re free now, don’t let them win, don’t shut us out.”
“I never wanted anyone to feel bad for me, especially not you.” Crosshair said after a long pause of silence and you laughed again.
“We all feel bad for you, despite everything you’re one of us.” You told him so sincerely that Crosshair felt like he’d been punched in the stomach at the speed his breath was stolen from him.
You turned to face him, a small smile on your face and you hesitated for only a moment before you reached out and took his hand in yours, entwining your fingers together.
“I don’t deserve any of this,” Crosshair forced out and you smiled at him softly. “I don’t deserve you, you should be running away from me, leave me behind and move on.”
“Well, I’m sorry but I fell in love with you, okay?” You told him, watching as his eyes widened in complete disbelief. “It happened and I can’t do anything about it.”
“You…what?” Crosshair choked, for so long he had dreamed of you and him, of a life where you could possibly want him but it was such a far off dream, something that would never become a reality and now you were saying the words he had longed to hear for years.
“You’re stuck with me, Cross, I’m not going anywhere, I’m not running away. You’re it for me, always have been.” You said, laughing as a tear or two managed to slip down your cheek and Crosshair only second guessed himself for a moment before his hand cupped your cheek and he softly brushed the tears away, his thumb caressing your cheek bone.
“I don’t deserve you.” He repeated and you smiled brightly at him. “But I will spend the rest of my life trying.”
“I love you.” You told him again, watching as his eyes became watery and he rested his forehead against yours.
“I love you too, so much.” He choked out and you couldn’t stop yourself from closing the small distance between the two of you, Crosshair not hesitating to meet you in the middle.
Crosshair’s hand on your cheek moved to your hair, pulling you impossibly closer as he kissed you, savouring every second of the feeling, something he had longed for and convinced himself he could never have.
Eventually the two of you needed to pull apart for air, breathing heavily but not going far from each other, foreheads together as you both smiled at the other.
For the first time in so long Crosshair didn’t feel a single bit of cold, his body was warm, his heart racing as he held you close. For the first time in a long time Crosshair didn’t feel numb, he didn’t feel pain or fear.
It felt like he was finally off that awful planet, it felt like he had finally left his cold cell behind and stepped into the daylight, able to feel the sun of Pabu for the first time and it was because of you, you were the source of this warmth, this love, this joy, this overwhelming relief that things would be better.
For the first time in a very long time Crosshair felt like things would be okay, he had you, he swore he’d make amends with his brothers, spend the rest of his life making up for everything, spend the rest of his life proving he was worthy of yours and his brother’s love. It felt easier, it felt doable with you at his side once again.
summary — a mission unlocks memories in your brain you’d rather forget. tech helps, in his own way.
warnings — gn!reader, angst, fluff, mentions of childhood trauma, hunter’s a prick
note — i heard this sound on tiktok and it unlocked a memory i did NOT want unlocked lol so enjoy this self indulgent piece
𝐈𝐓’𝐒 𝐅𝐔𝐍𝐍𝐘 𝐇𝐎𝐖 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐒 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐑 𝐀 𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐘. it’s funny how something as small as a child crying causes someone to fold in on themselves. you almost were shot because of it, and you definitely got an earful back on the marauder.
“what were you thinking? just standing there? you could’ve been killed!” hunter’s voice penetrated your clouded thoughts, scolding you for a poor job. he had a point; you were almost killed.
“but i wasn’t, hunter, so what’s the big deal?” you challenge, crossing your arms over your chest. what was next, was he going to question how you worked with the team? was he going to exclude you from future missions? you almost dared him.
“the big deal? y/n you nearly cost us the mission and you could have been killed,” he paused, taking a minute to think. though, given his next words, he should have taken more time to think, “i think you should sit out on the next mission,” his voice was still raised, breaths spilling from his mouth like he ran a marathon.
yet there it was.
exclusion.
“fine, it’s your call, you’re the sergeant,” your words were not short of being venomous, making hunter realize instantly what he just told you. you were a valuable asset to the batch, a sounding board, and he just told you to sit out.
there wasn’t a lot of places for you to go, so you sat in the co-pilot’s chair. you brought a knee up to your chest, resting your chin on it. the silence was comforting, but your mind still swam. hunter’s words, their words, the child crying…
“for the record, i don’t think you should sit out next mission,” tech was the first to speak, the softness and quietness of his voice illustrating just how unused to that he was. his words only earned a scoff from you.
“it was the child crying, no?” he guessed. tech noticed the shift in your demeanor when the child started crying to her mother, wondering why everyone left. you grew stiff, your eyes unfocused, and of course, you were nearly shot.
“what gave me away?” you asked him, still refusing to meet eyes with him. despite tech not being well-versed in comfort, he still knew how to read people. he could read them very well. interpreting those emotions was a different skill.
“the fact you were nearly shot, mainly,” he stated as-a-matter-of-factly, “but also the way your demeanor changed. your shoulders tightened, your eyes widened. not to mention your voice changed,” he went on to describe just how much your body changed. you didn’t think he paid that much attention to you.
“i didn’t think it was that obvious,” you shrugged, taking your chin off of your knee. you slid your eyes over to meet his, the softness of them underneath his goggles provided an odd place of comfort for you. he didn’t judge you, he was merely stating facts.
“it was,” he felt heat rise to his cheeks, a feeling he logically knew was because of his attraction to you. emotionally, he wouldn’t acknowledge it.
“at least to me,” tech added softly, attempting to make the situation better than what it was. your eyes widened again, unsure of how to feel about this. ever since you started working with the bad batch, talking about emotional experiences was hard with tech. so you didn’t. hearing him acknowledge your feelings and talk about his own shocked you. it shouldn’t have.
“when i was a kid, i was bullied a lot,” you started, pulling down the wall you’ve built up over the years, “their form of bullying was excluding me from things. i was invited to parties, but never talked to. i was never played with, and kids made fun of me for the stuff i liked,” you continued. you’ve never spoken to any of them about this. it was too sensitive. the fear of rejection and judgement was too strong.
silence followed, filling the space between you. tech didn’t know what to say, but he knew that this was sensitive information. he knew that it was hard for you to talk about, and so he didn’t want to say anything to potentially make things worse.
“hearing that little girl cry, asking her mother where everyone went, it just…i don’t know. it was under different circumstances but still,” you were failing to understand why the moment froze you. hunter was right, you could have been killed.
“it was a different circumstance, but,” tech started, his words coming out slowly as he processed them, “your fight or flight kicked in. it’s human nature whenever we come in contact with something that’s upset us or, dare i say, traumatized us,” his eyes searched yours, trying to read the expression on your face. tech knew what it was like to be ostracized for the things you’re good at. he was a defective clone, he knew almost exactly what you felt.
“when…when i was a cadet, still on kamino, i wasn’t treated very kindly by the regs simply for being different. the words they said, even some of the things they did, it was not kind of them,” tech’s words marinated in your mind for a moment. you found yourself completely facing him, engrossed in the man in front of you. you finally found someone to relate to, that knew what it was like to be excluded and bullied. for once, you could breathe.
“you didn’t deserve that,”
“neither did you,” he agreed, his warm, brown eyes cradling yours. he came to the same realization you did. he wasn’t as alone as he thought he was. as much as he wished neither of you went through what you did, it brought you two together, and he was grateful for that.
“we do need to work on your fight, flight, or freeze response,” he lightened the mood. you smiled and laid back in your chair.
“i know i know,” you smiled. you didn’t catch it, but tech smiled too.
here’s some tech! this was kind of self indulgent so i apologize for that, i still hope you enjoy though!
Crosshair x reader / past relationship with Hunter
She/ her pronouns
It’s been so long since I’ve posted or even written anything. My writers block has gotten the best of me but I’m rewatching bad batch and I’ve been trying to write again! I’ve missed the clones so much 😢
So warning for spelling mistakes and any other mistakes! Hope everyone that reads enjoys!
(Maybe ooc crosshair? Kinda? Idk)
It’s a tight squeeze but you manage. Your hands rest on Crosshairs shoulder, giving him a reassuring squeeze. His arm wraps around your waist, pulling you impossibly close. However, you feel the slightest touch of Hunter from behind and you know he’s trying to keep himself from falling into you. On any other occasion Crosshair would be biting his head off for being so close to you but right now there isn’t much room to be arguing over personal space. His eyes aren’t even on you, but rather on Hunter.
“It’s only for a short while” You dare a glance behind you, Hunters head moves so you can only assume he’s looking you in the eye.
AZ maneuvers the pod from the falling debris, and your turn to watch everything being lost to the depths. You’re not sure how the two are handling loosing a home, and you’ll have to talk with Crosshair after to make sure he’s okay. He’ll never tell you anything in front of Hunter.
Hunter can’t stand it, your smell is intoxicating. He miss you, wishes he waited that moment longer. However, he couldn’t there had been no time and he wants to tell you, let it bleed out of him. He almost thankful for helmet on his head, but you were the best at reading him. If he hadn’t brought it he’s sure you’d see the apologetic look he’s giving you, or maybe you see the love he still has for you.
You flinch as Hunters hands grab at your hips as the pod jolts a bit too roughly. Your bodies squish Crosshair, and he quick to shove Hunter back, a glare that sent chills down your spine is directed at Hunter.
“You’re hurting her. Stay on your side” Crosshair growls as he pulls you an inch or so closer, Hunters front no longer pressed against you
“Well if you didn’t insist on her joining an already cramped pod-“ Hunter starts but is cut off quickly “She goes where I go” his tone assertive leaving no question in the air for doubt
Hunter can only nod before glancing around for Omega, he sees she’s as safe as the rest of them before turning back, he lets out a sigh.
“So, uh, when did you two start this…” he trails off catching himself on your shoulder, his touch familiar yet foreign and you hate but your body relaxes under his touch “… this thing?”
“When you abandon her” Crosshair eyes soften when they meet yours and you can’t stop the smile that spread on your face “I kept her safe” his arm tightens around you and you give a small nod “and I will continue to do so”
A moment passes and the pod jolts abruptly, Hunter’s hands catch your hips as Crosshairs does his best catch himself but you had been wrapped around him so tightly that catching himself had been useless. Your jaw clenches, trying to keep the groan from slipping past your lips.
“Are you okay?” He quickly ask, and you can only nod and you’re trying to reach the button just behind him, your wiggling trying to push yourself forward as best as you could but Hunters grips tightens and you realize that wiggling isn’t helping him “Sorry” you whisper “Crosshair, your elbow” and he nods and you’re finally able to breath.
It all happens quick, one second Hunters looking you over as if you’ve been injured and the next your behind Crosshair. Your eyes widened at the others, blaster focused on one person and your quick to shield Crosshair. Glancing back you see he’s aiming in the water and you realize Omega isn’t here.
She’s up in a moment, Hunter checking her over and Crosshair turns to look at you. You softly smile at him as you reach up brushing your finger across his check before settling your palm against him. He eyes swirling with questions and all you can do it nod at him a small “I’m okay” slipping past your lips as your press your forehead to his.
~ ~
Hunter and Crosshair stand a few feet from you. Backs turned but you can see they’re talking, about what? You don’t know. You smile at the others and thank Tech for the bacta patch.
“Crosshair” you call for him and he turns before looking back over at Hunter, sighing in defeat he walks over to you
“We don’t have a lot of time to discuss this” he starts as he wraps his arms around you, he’s not big on PDA but right now, in front of his brothers, he doesn’t care “I need you to go with them” his grips tightens as you try to pull away
“Wh-what’re you saying?” You try to pull back to look at him but his grip is tight “we promised” you could feel the tears brimming your eyes as you give him a push and he loosens so that you can look up at him
“After this? It’ll be harder to keep you safe and if you go with-“ he reaches up, his thumb catching the tears that slip down your face “-they’ll keep you safe. I’ll know your safe” his brows dip, heart squeezing in his chest “don’t fight this” he reaches in to his pocket, a black band that you had placed on his finger months back “I made you a promise and this is me keeping it”
He grabs your hand, placing the band in your palm. He closes your hand around it, his forehead coming to rest on yours. It’s not fair, he wants to tell Hunter to piss off but he’s right. The stunt he pulled would make his trust with the empire less than what it was. He’d be putting you in harms away and he can’t have that. His heart is shattered with each sniffle that comes from you, he opens his eyes and pulls back.
“When things get better, I’ll find you” he lifts your chin with his finger “we made a promise and I don’t intend on breaking it” you frown shaking your head “don’t do this” you plead and he cups your face, leaning down and softly presses a kiss to your lips.
He pulls back, pressing a kiss to the top of your head his eyes shutting tightly and pulls you close. He pulls back and looks to Hunter. You look back and Hunter is walking over and you turn back to Crosshair. You don’t want to believe this. Your heart squeezes in your chest, your hands grip his tighter.
“I’m not leaving without you” your voice is broken, you pleading with everything in you for him to let you stay but he’s set in his ways, his first priority had been you “we made a vow to never part from each other” you hold his band up and it’s settled next to yours, a silver band that is now exactly where it’s meant to sit on your left hand
Hunter switches his blaster to stun. It feels heavy in his hands now that it’s aimed at your back. He wishes Crosshair wasn’t right about this. You were never going to leave him willingly. He hears the words that leave your lips and his eyes flash to Crosshair. He didn’t just protect you, he fell in love with you and you him. He feels his heart shatter, he’s fighting the sudden tears brimming his eyes.
He wanted to be selfish, but the way your plead with Crosshair, the way you cling to him like he’s the reason your breath makes all the what if’s vanish from his mind. You were no longer his and the bands in your hands prove that. Crosshair had done so much for you in the months that passed that what he had done for you in years seem like nothing, empty promises.
Crosshair meets Hunters eyes, and Hunter pulls the trigger, your body falls limp into his arms. He watches the way Crosshair kneels down, his fingers moving your hair from your face as he press a kiss to your lips, your forehead and your lips once more this time longer. He lingers, his lips moving but Hunter chooses not to listen.
“Keep her safe Hunter” Crosshair pleads, no sneer, no icy tone and he can only nod “keep her happy” he adds “she’s the only good thing I have left”
Crosshair watches Hunter carry you on to the ship. He closes his eyes before turning away. He’s not sure why he’s making this choice when the only light in his life is you. As he hears the ship take off, dark storm clouds begin to swirl in his mind. The sun no longer guiding his way as the sudden reality of it all comes to the front of his mind. You’re not safe until Rampart is dealt with.
Everyone imagines hunter as a romantic partner, but he is for the people who have absent/neglectful parents. He is the regulated, protective, safe, emotionally available, and attuned parental figure you've never had in your childhood.
Imagine Wrecker trying your baking for the first time.
In hindsight, he should’ve anticipated this.
As it is, Wrecker feels as though he could sprint to the other side of Pabu in record time if only to escape the embarrassment flooding his being.
It had started innocently enough; you offered him a cookie after dinner and he graciously accepted, promptly shoving the entire treat into his mouth in one fell swoop, only to be pleasantly surprised by the burst of molten, sugary goodness coating his tongue.
He had moaned. Openly. Not only in front of you, but in front of his family too.
Hunter coughed into his beverage. Omega laughed, suggesting that he eat another one and savor it this time.
And you…
Well, he has yet to look at you.
But judging by your silence, he’s probably messed up your perception of him.
“She’s pretty good at baking, yeah?” Omega cuts through the haze of Wrecker’s internal self-pity.
“Uh, yeah. Yeah!” He finally forces himself to turn his head and face you and…
You’re beaming. Your lips are pulled into a glorious smile and he thinks your radiance alone could stop wars, could change the hearts of even the most sinister individuals.
Hells, he thinks he could overthrow the Empire at this very moment.
“Really?”
The question catches him off guard and he suddenly wants to be at the receiving end of your smiles for as long as he can. The embarrassment is forgotten, now replaced with a flutter of warmth in his chest and he wonders what he was even worried about in the first place.
When one of his brothers coughs again, Wrecker realizes his jaw is slack and that your expectant expression merits a response. He gulps despite how dry his mouth feels and nods with as much conviction as he can muster.
“Best damn cookies I’ve ever had,” he says, promptly reaching for another one from the table.
He misses the way you look down at your lap, smiling sheepishly as you tuck a strand of hair behind an ear. Instead, he munches on the cookie slowly this time, savoring every bite before swallowing.
“Thank you,” you say before pushing the plate closer to him. “There’s more in the oven, too.”
Mid-bite, Wrecker blinks at you once before swallowing, the corners of his mouth stretching into a grin.
He thinks he could get used to this.
A/N: Don't mind me as I clear my google drive of unfinished/abandoned drabbles. Labeling them as 'imagines' seems to be more fitting anyway. LMK if this presentation works or not ♡
