THE BIG EASY RP WEEK 2016 [day four] ↳ plot that you are proud of (yours)

The New Orleans Royals est. 1999

this was actually a year that was pretty easy for me to pick a plot i’m proud of. i’m going to be fucked next year if plot is an option for tbeweek20.  anyway,  i love everything that i do on the big easy but this one holds a special place for me. which may be in part because i’m canadian and this is hockey but god i’m proud of where elle and i started with this and where these hockey hunks (as i label them in every group thread, look at them and tell me i’m wrong) have ended up.  one of the things i love about it is how realistic it feels, new orleans is a football city, its home to my favourite football team after all.  and we could have made the royals something to rival the saints but i think that would have taken some of the magic away from this whole team. the members of the team know this but it does not stop them from playing their hearts out for their city, for the fans they know they have and for themselves. 

boy did they do that this year.  i got to play through the end of their season last year where the team got to the third round of playoffs loosing out before making it to the final round and my poor boy was devastated.  not only did he miss out on a chance for the cup but he’d missed out on going for gold at the olympics, it was a rough year.  this year though they win the cup, with an impressive record coming out of the regular season but its not easy for them.  they only swept one round, the other three have gone to five, six or seven games.  the scores are close, they play hard and they stay true to who they are as a team.

we’ve got an entire first line of players, the forwards, the defence, the man in the net.  we’ve got a captain who parents the team, a player that takes it upon himself to make sure everyone is doing okay like the grandfather he is. we’ve got jokesters, protectors, a golden boy of great character.  and someone that makes them look damn good on social media who is still made to feel like a part of the team.  they are a brotherhood. they all have their own lives, highs and lows, they’re going through different situations with their personal and love lives.  they are a complex group of men, and interesting group.  they have even garnered a little bit of a fanbase and i’m so pleased with that!  i love how they rally around their team mates (shout out to #playwithpride and vince taking a stand, don’t get even get me started on that brilliance because damn!)

i think what i’m also proud of is what goes on behind the scenes that makes this work.  they have a goal song, thunderstruck.  they have an instagram account run by gabriel (haley) who came up with my favourite hashtag ever.  the graphics for the team and score templates are all elle and they’re utterly fantastic.  i created an entire schedule based off the actual nhl schedule fitting in royals games so we know when the team is in new orleans and when they’re somewhere else, when they have free days and when they have game days.  every member of the group accommodates that, works it into their characters and what they’ve got going on, which goes back to giving it that realistic feel i mentioned.

i’ll also forever be grateful the royals gifted me tomas, i love and adore him so much.  he might actually be me if i was a hockey player. i also get to live vicariously through one of my characters being involved with a hockey player which i’m 99.9% sure is the canadian dream ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Despite this place having a wealth of members that have been around since the beginning of time, it is very inclusive. Everyone’s open to plotting and pride themselves in being able to form relationships of any degree. The writers are so damn good and have so much love for their characters that development is a definite priority. Also, they love other people’s characters and plots as much as they do their own. I’m proud to be apart of this family and will throw down for them any day.

What do you want non-members to know about TBE: that we’re not only super welcoming, but also really diverse - in the few months i’ve been around, i’ve seen people who are into fluffy plots, people who are into drama, people who reply in 2 hours, people who reply in a week, people who write 800+ word replies, and those who keep it short. in the middle of all that, i find it really hard to feel like an outsider because there’s always someone who’s into what you want to play.

THE BIG EASY RP WEEK 2019 [day five] ↳ plot that impressed you (someone else’s) - Jo & Tom

Something about these two gets me, and I will stalk their threads until I die. Kae and Elle just write their relationship in a way that is so real and so relatable. The two of them aren’t perfect and they had to go through a lot of shit to get to the other side. There’s nothing forced about them; everything that they’ve achieved, they’ve earned. They remind me that the best things in this life are things that you work for, and it’s okay to give yourself room to grow and learn. I am their biggest fan, and it probably helps that Aaron loves them too.

THE BIG EASY RP WEEK 2019 [day two] ↳ character you’d throw down for → katsumi ross & josephine jayakumar

I word these days specifically because I’m trying to change things up from the typical things that these appreciation weeks ask for and this time I thought it’d be interesting to decide which character you would defend to your dying breath, not necessarily your favourite.

Here’s the thing - I have defended Jo. Over the course of writing her for almost seven years at this point she’s done a shit ton of questionable things and when someone doesn’t understand one of those things I’m ready to fight. Unlike some of my characters, she also needs that protection because she is all too willing to take the blame for things she has not done. She’s accepted less for herself consistently in life and hopefully eventually she’ll start getting the things that she deserves.

I haven’t played Sumi for that long, but he is a reincarnation of one of my oldest boys and because of that they share a lot of the same background. His story, his history, his everything is something that I crafted carefully. People have tried to chip away at it from the beginning of his plot which was why he ended up in the family he’s with in the first place. I staunchly advocate for Sumi to become a D'Entremont because I’m protective of my small bug and that’s where he’s going to thrive the most.

What do you want non-members to know about TBE: how amazing the people here are.  tbe is great but the best part about this site are the people i have met and made friends with here.  they are kind, funny, inclusive, and considerate.  they are unbelievably talented writers, every single one of them, that i am so lucky to get a chance to write with.
