Captionating, 1
I always thought captions were hilarious.
I wish I had the guts to enter more contests.
In a past life, I scoured the pages of Reader's Digest and The New Yorker.
In this life, I can just make up my own.
I think I may start doing that again.
I hope I do.
And I'm me. So I can.
__________
In the past 3 months, I've been writing on this tumblr account.
When I first joined tumblr, I started a thing called "Captionating,"
which was just writing captions on photos,
mostly of the day's top stories, or whatever.
__________
It was one of the more fun things I would do with my day, honestly.
But at that time I didn't have the discipline that I'm trying to develop now.
I wonder if I made it a goal to make one for each weekday this week,
if I will do it.
So let's make that a stated goal.
__________
Monday through Friday of this upcoming week,
I will post an actual caption-related post on
ilikecaptions.tumblr.com
__________
The Bryson Turner Show! ep 13 Goal:
quantity
consistency.
Living Love Letter, 2/1/2014
I just wrote the letter.
I don't know if I was motivated by the fact that I wasn't allowed to write yours until I finished.
But if that's a fun addition to your narrative,
then please, be my guest.
;)
__________
I posted episode 13 of "The Bryson Turner Show" today,
when I got home from my hour-long set at
the Metropolitan-G/Lorimer-L subway station.
Tomorrow I'll wake up,
go to the gym,
come home,
and then go to the Tea Lounge to write.
__________
I'm exhausted. But I want to write you.
It's fun to write you.
It tastes like s'mores.
__________
I do have one off-line secret to tell you.
So remind me to do that.
__________
I want to write like crazy tonight and tomorrow,
(mostly tomorrow),
and read, as well.
I'm excited to do
The Bryson Turner Show, episode 14
tomorrow night.
I just need to find a studio audience that can work the night shift.
__________
Oh yeah!
Michael's number.
I'll text you that, then go to sleep.
I'm on the way from Brooklyn, back home to Pittsburgh. I have not been able to get this week's episode of "The Bryson Turner Show!" to upload from my phone. Which is frustrating. But I'll continue to take Butterfly's advice, and let myself be bad at using my phone, for now.
Steady progress. Patience. Faith in self. Growth.
TBTS! Episode 7 update
It's Thursday morning. 9:35.
To review, these were my 5 goals for this week:
1. New phone!
2. Brother Brown's tiles
3. Just keep brushing
4. Ticket home (Pittsburgh)
5. Butterfly promises
(a) Blog about Hamptons show
(b) Sell conversations

I knocked out #1 on Monday. I went to the T-Mobile store, looked at phones
I've been wanting to do that for this entire year. I did it on December 16. But I did it.
So in a way, this week was a huge success, by Monday afternoon.
Oh! I forgot the first goal: to put out "The Bryson Turner Show!"
I did that Monday, about 10:30 am.
I finished Goal 1 on Monday, about 3 pm.
I finished Goal 2 on Monday, about 8 pm. You can read about it here.
Goal 3 is to "Just Keep Brushing." It's a play off the line in Finding Nemo, "just keep swimming." It means to build off the little things - like waking up and brushing my teeth every morning.
When all else is failing: just keep brushing. (so far, so good)
Goal 4 was to buy a ticket home. I did. I leave next Monday, the 23rd. I imagine I'll take some Adderall with me, and write throughout the day, as I slowly chug my way across the part of the Earth we call "Pennsylvania."
I even bought my ticket home already. I'm telling you, this whole "list" thing might be something.
That brings us to Goal Number 5: Butterfly promises.
__________
These are things that are tough for me. So I try to use my love for Butterfly as a tool. I don't want to break promises to her...so I promise her I'll do something--no matter how much I dread doing it.
I have 2 things this week, that I promised I would do.
(a) Blog about Hamptons
(b) Sell conversations
Blogging about the Hamptons will be easier. It will take time. But I can do that.
And I want to bring the "comedyhajj" back. Not that it's ever left, really.
I just haven't written much this year. But I guess that's been a part of the hajj, really.
Everything is a part of the hajj.
So let's write. Let's smoke a little, so that it's honest. (or something closer to honest, anyway)
And let's write. Let's write about what it's like to perform in the Hamptons. And to try to connect. And to try to remember, that all people are the same.
I don't want to. Writing terrifies me. I hate the inevitable imperfection of it.
But I promised.
Whether this kept you awake or put you to sleep, thanks for watching -- and listening -- to The Bryson Turner Show.
