Weeks earlier:
“Ah yes, of course I can fit you for your gown, darling. You will look stunning! Something A line? Crystals? And of course, your signature color..” Mister Mirage chirruped excitedly, as Alissa stood in his showroom.
“Actually, I was thinking red. A bright red.”
Mr. Mirage lurched to a stop and blinked. “Red? Well! Of course, you would look stunning in this.” He held up the red asymmetrical dress.
She giggled a little at his shock. “Well, it is the Night of Anonymity, Mr. Mirage, I might as well do something completely different, no? I’ll take it. That’s lovely. Can you alter it in time?”
“For you? Of course.”
Day of the Ball….
Alissa as usual, was bustling around hurrying to get herself ready for the ball. She dropped by Mr. Mirage’s shop and while he was helping her get into her dress, she nearly burst into tears. The dress had almost not zipped which caused Alissa to cry out that she was too fat. Hormones at their finest. Luckily, Mr. Mirage was there to reassure her and offer a tissue.
For the evening, she had decided to go outside her usual statement light blue garments. The dress she’d ordered weeks ago was a bright shade of red. To match, she selected strappy red heels that were easy to walk in. Given it was a masquerade, a mask was needed. She chose a white and gold one. Finally, she painted her lips a crimson shade to match the gown and accentuated her eyes with a bit of light eye shadow, making her lashes stand out.
When she arrived in Jay’s shop with her darkened locks of hair and red attire, he nearly mistook her for Lena Larkspur. They decided on some loose curls and waves to add in some more texture and then he neatly plaited two sets of braids that connect at the back of her head and allowed the dark brown locks to flow down her back.
It was going to be an interesting night, to say the least and for the first time in a while, Alissa was excited.
