The birds served as your alarm clock letting you know that the sun was up, the day had begun and it was time to begin to wake up. You didn’t want to listen. Waking up was the last thing on your mind. You wanted to dream some more because it was the most beautiful dream. Still, the birds continued their song.
Chirp-chirp, chirp-chirp-chirp, chirp-chirp.
You moaned and that was when you felt the ever so lite grazes to your skin.
“Mmm.”
“Mmm. It’s time to wake up.”
You groaned then pushed your arms out coming in contact with a body.
“No,” you said before you rolled onto your side.
What you could make out now as lips kissed along your shoulders then to the back of your neck and leading a path down your spine.
“Mmmm.”
“Come on. Wake up. I’ll make it worth your while.”
Soft, seductive lips kissed around to your exposed hip and up your side until they got to your shoulder again. The longer he kept this up the chances of you being able to sleep through his bodily manipulation and seduction tactics. Again, you groaned hoping this time it sounded more assertive than meek. Chris chuckled, and you knew it was nowhere near what you’d intended.
“Your goosebumps give you away,” he softly whispered into your ear.
“Someone is holding the covers hostage.”
“Can you blame me? This is my first time seeing you this way.”
“Liar! You’ve seen me naked before. this entire weekend.”
“Not enough.”
Chris kissed your ear then trailed kisses down to your neck and that was where he stayed for several long moments. another moan escaped you.
“It’s early,” you whined.
“It’s almost noon. The sun is hot, birds are out and he is up.”
You smirked and tried to hide it as best you could. That was when Chris pulled you back onto his chest. You could feel every inch of him pressed against you. Still, you fought off any reaction. He wanted you to react.
“I know you feel him.”
Damn right you felt him. He was impossible to miss. The prominent bulge that persistently pressed against your ass was demanding attention and entry. Not the one to be ignored, Chris Jr pulsated and lurched time and time again. The longer you ignored him the more persistently you were poked.
“He can do this all day.”
Unable to hold it in any longer, your laughter echoed out around you, and the forest outside your literal love tent. While you were distracted in your laughter Chris managed to flip you onto your back, press your hands to the mattress and press your legs apart with his knees. It took a few moments for your laughter to die down. When it did you watched him watch you.
“Hi there princess.”
Warmth filled you and made your heart swell. Before when he called you princess you took it in a teasing way. Now it was personal, intimate, and completely sinful. What a difference seventy-two hours made.
“God, you’re beautiful when you get all shy.”
Chris positioned his hips and you knew just what his intention was. Yanking your hand away freeing yourself you pressed it to his abdomen just below his belly button, holding him back.
“That’s all it takes? A few kisses, and a compliment and you think you deserve entry?”
Chris smirked then rested back on his heels then looked down to where your hand was. He didn’t speak. Slowly your eyes joined his and once you looked at your hand you knew what he was looking at.
“I thought I more than paid the price of admissions for our entire lives. Thirty-plus years of pining, yearning, loving, and praying. Thirty plus years of wishes for only you. Thirty plus years loving you all put into that for a future and life I’ve dreamed of all my life.”
Both your eyes remained on the ring that decorated your left hand. It looked and felt like it belonged. The way your hand looked pressed against his toned and slightly bronzed flesh was a seduction in its own right.
“Such a sweet talker,” you whispered.
You slowly trailed your hand up along his abdomen, to his chest, then snuck it under his arm and hooked it behind his shoulder bringing him closer to you. As he hovered above you, you cupped his bearded jaw.
“I love you, Chris.”
His smile was heartwarming. It reminded you of when he was a kid and he was given an unexpected compliment.
“Show me.”
You dropped your other hand to his ass, dug your nails into the toned flesh there, and welcomed him.

-A Few Hours Later-
The path you trailed along his skin had no logic to it. Your hand moved of its own accord with no intent but to touch him. Touching him had become your new obsession and it had nothing to do with anything sexual. His skin was so new but familiar. Every inch you touched, your fingertips memorized the imprint of muscles underneath by paying attention to how they bunched or danced. Every centimeter you traveled you memorized how the goosebumps prickled and what mole or beauty mark was where. You’d already begun to think of what the rest of your life doing this would look like.
“Are you sleeping?”
“Mm-nm.”
“What are you thinking about?”
The strong beating of his heart underneath your ear was soothing. It wasn’t slow, nor was it abnormally fast, it was an interesting mix of both and you’d figured out by now that it was how it beat when you were touching.
“What it would look like doing this the rest of our lives.”
His heart sped as did the pattern of his breathing. A minute or two passed with silence and his increasing heart rate. Chris took your hand, held it in the air for both of you to see, and toyed with the ring on your finger.
“Do you really want this for the rest of your life?”
You perched your head up resting your chin on his chest to look at him.
“Changed your mind?”
A soft smirk tickled his lips. “Never, but--,” Chris said hesitating. His fingers continued to play with your ring as he looked off to the distance. “If you want to change your mind—it's okay.”
Your heart stalled like the engine of an old pickup truck. You sat up to rest on your elbow.
“What?”
Chris didn’t meet your eyes.
“I’m just saying—if—if you want one—I can give you an out.”
A strong wave of anger rushed through you and in seconds you’d flung your leg over him and sat right on his crotch.
“Hey! What the hell are you talking about?”
“Just--.”
“What you’ve changed your mind and are freaking out in true Chris commitment-phobe form and are running? Don’t--.”
Chris’s hand across your mouth stopped the words that were coming next.
“Just listen, Y/N. I’m just giving you the chance to back out of this—us.”
You yanked his hand away, “Did I ask for a chance to back out? Did I ask for a fucking out?”
“Why are you angry?”
“Are you kidding right now Christopher!? For the last 2 days, I’ve laid myself bare in front of you in more ways than bodily. I've fully opened up, revealed personal and terrifying shit, and let you inside my body and--here.” You touched above your heart.
“I’ve laid myself bare too,” Chris began
“Shut up!”
Your tears rolled down your cheek before you even knew you were crying.
“Y/N,” Chris said with a deadly serious expression, reaching out to you.
You slapped his hands away and climbed off of him looking for something to put on. You were fuming.
“Wait, wait, Y/N.”
Ignoring his words you got up but his arms wrapped around your stomach pulling you back to the bed and holding you in place.
“Get off Chris.”
“No. Talk to me. Why are you angry?”
“Why do you think?!”
“I just don’t want you to feel pressure.”
You wiggled from his arms and stood to face him. “Did I ever once say I feel pressure? What’s changed?”
“Nothing.”
“Something has changed. All of a sudden you’re giving me an out? I thought--.”
Your tears began to stream at that point. You turned your back to him and tried to get a hold of your runaway emotions. You didn’t know why you were reacting so strongly to this. Him giving you an out shouldn’t have been a big deal.
“Princess,” Chris said, his voice soft.
You felt him creeping up behind you before you felt his arms wrap around you again.
“I’m sorry.”
You kissed your teeth then sniffled. Chris walked around to stand in front of you.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have--.”
“Do you want an out now that you’ve fucked me to your heart’s content? Is that what you want?”
The shock that lit up his face was instantaneous.
“Wha—I—how--,” Chris stuttered before he clenched his jaw and took a breath only to begin again. “Is that what you think?”
You rolled your eyes and grabbed the sheet off the floor then wrapped it around yourself. Once covered, you made a move to walk out of the tent but Chris blocked your way.
“It’s dawned on me how selfish I have been—am being. I knew it all along but I didn’t care because I couldn’t accept that you didn't feel what I feel. Now—I’ve put you in a really bad situation, really bad. Reality is creeping in and with it the picture of our lives right now.”
“And you don’t want to deal with it,” you filled in.
“No. I want you, all of you no matter what. I will hold your hand and face this reality with you without question. I just--,” he sighed. “I got scared.”
He sighed again then walked back to the bed and sat at the edge with his head hanging low. You didn’t turn to face him, choosing to keep your back to him.
“I got scared that somewhere in the back of your head you might have been wondering if any of this was worth it if you could really—stick to everything we’ve found here. rather than giving you a hard time I put myself in your shoes and gave you an out.”
The silence stretched for quite a while before he continued.
“They were scared words said from a sacred heart with you in mind. I’m sorry.”
With those words, slowly your anger evaporated. While none of this was new, it dawned on you that everything was new. You were his best friend but this level and aspect of your relationship were brand new. He was still learning to depend on you this way. It had only been seventy-two hours.
You dried your eyes and wiped your cheeks then turned to him.
“Do you love me Chris?”
“With every atom, cell and molecule in my body.”
You fought toi show no reaction to his science nerd reference.
“Do you want me?”
“For this lifetime and the next fifty that follow.”
You couldn’t hide your reaction to that. Flaring your nose you continued.
“Did this ring and the words you said with it mean anything?”
You held up your hand to show the ring.
“of course. They mean everything.”
He made a move to get up but you took a step back and held your hand out to stop him.
“Stay there.” Swiping your hand across your cheek you wiped your tear and took a deep breath. “I’m headstrong so you know when I really make a decision and choice I stick with it. It would take hell overturning for me to change my mind.”
“I know. It’s one of the things I love and hate.”
“I’ve made this decision and choice Chris.” You walked to him then sat on him only stopping when your faces were inches apart. Are you looking at me, Evans?”
He nodded eyes glued to yours.
“You are the choice, you are the decision. I love you and it would take hell overturning for me to change my mind. Let’s continue loving each other.”
Chris wrapped his arms around your waist and held you close.
“Through sickness and health.”
Tears filled your eyes yet again then rolled down your cheeks as you repeated the words and followed his lead.
“Through sunshine or rain.”
Chris repeated your words and added on.
“For better or worse.”
Again, you repeated and continued, “Through your joys and sorrow.”
Chris’s tears rolled as he repeated your words and that triggered more of your tears.
“Forever protecting you.”
Chris cupped your cheek as he spoke.
“Forever giving all of myself to only you,” you added.
“May we never part not even in death,” you both finished in unison.
You placed your hand over his and laced your fingers through his.
“Forever I do, Y/N.”
Throwing your arms around his neck you held him close. “Forever I do, Chris.”
There was no need for anything else. This was enough.

idk why y’all are so upset about invari’s death, he was never a good character lmao. like i think he deserved worse than what he got, he got off so easy given what he did. honestly i would’ve been mad if he got a redemption arc, he doesn’t deserve one at all
