The kids got separated, one with a delightful Children each, but they seem… way less of a threat now; if anything they seem like… scared little kids. So beaten and bruised, they are forced to find their way back to the others with one of their greatest enemies… who now seem to be more like the scared kids they sworn to protect…
It makes them feel weird seeing a more human side to them

I miss this show so much, the delightful children were my favorites and I was dying for an episode where they got to properly meet their uncle Monty.
This show is one of those old hyper fixations that I love because occasionally I’ll be reminded of it and have a deep dive in the character’s minds and situations even though the show itself never took itself seriously (*cough cough* continuity confusion *cough cough*) I just want to see the delightful children sort through their trauma/issues and see them have a good relationship with their uncle Monty!
Side note: I’m genuinely shocked at how on tumblr people are talking about Monty spoiling his nieces and nephews with fun Uncle stuff (and because he never gets angry like Father does) but when I go to look for some of the wholesome fics they speak of; there’s nothing! And I’m just sitting there like “Aw Come On!”
Or if something sounds like it would be cool it stopped being updated way back in 2018 lol
New au, one in which Father isn't a complete abusive, obsessive jerk to Persephone!
This time centered in @reanimatedbrainmeat and @fluffy--mafia aus where Father adopted the Delightful Children and genuinely cares for them instead of using them like pawns in canon.
From what I've seen in how they both characterize Father, while he's a villain still, hes not a complete monster especially towards people he cares about. He just has more humanity than in my main au, with him even hesitating when Nigel compares him to Grandfather in this comic.
Tumblr is a place to express yourself, discover yourself, and bond over the stuff you love. It's where your interests connect you with your
I think this is one of the few universes where he and Persephone manage to have an actual friendship because of this. I just can't see this version of Father doing half the shit the og version does to Seph (burning her wrists, trying to force her back into villainy, threatening Circe to try and force her to be his fiance again, burning down the clinic).
Since he has Carol and Angelo Monster here, hes moved on and doesnt have that obsessive need to force Persephone to marry him! Lucky her!
This version may not agree with the clinic and might not like it being a safe zone for KND, but I think he'd leave it alone out of respect for Persephone and the friendship they used to have. He won't go out of his way to destroy it or convince Seph to close it down, but he won't defend it from other villains either. In turn Persephone doesn't mess with him so long as he isn't targeting Circe.
While he still might not like Circe, I can see him tolerating her for the sake for his kids. Grumpy uncle type vibes lol
It low key feels weird writing Father not as scummy as I usually do dkdkd
Carol belongs to @reanimatedbrainmeat
Circe belongs to me!
Father was reading the paper in the living room with Carol when his oh so wonderful Delightful Children came strolling in. He glanced up at them, closing his paper to show that they had his attention. Carol looked up from painting her nails to see what her darling wards needed today.
“Father.” They spoke up.
“Yes children?”
The Delightful Children held out a photograph of a ten year old girl. Father took it from them, narrowing his eyes a little as he saw who it was.
Circe Sinclair. That little brat had been a thorn in his side the moment she moved into town with her sister Persephone. He had to admit he still had a soft spot for Persephone even after moving on with Carol, but that monster of hers was a whole other story.
“Circe Sinclair. What is it, children? Has she irked and vexed you lately? Is she causing trouble at school? Whatever it is, I’ll make-”
“We wish for her to be our friend, Father.”
Father nearly spat out his pipe at that. Carol on the other hand gasped, taking the photo from Father’s hand.
“My little darlings made a friend? Oh, oh isn't that wonderful Ben?!” Despite her joy, she grimaced a little at the photo as paint was smeared across Circe’s face. Not the most tidy and clean playmate, but their darlings hadn't been able to make any acquaintances. Not even with their fellow villain kids! That junior executive Windsor was a stuck up know it all who was just full of himself, and that Valerie girl was just a mangy fleabag who didn't know brilliant children when she saw them! If her darlings wanted Circe as a friend, who was she to say no?
Father on the other hand could only squint at the picture. Why this child? She was everything his kids hated! Messy, loud, wild, rambunctious, she was worse than even Nigel Uno!
“T…This one? You want this one as your friend?”
The Delightful Children continued to stare up at him with that soul piercing glare of theirs that seemed to grow even more intense when Father questioned their choice in companions.
“We want that one Father. Circe Sinclair is our friend.”
Father took the photo from Carol and scrutinized Circe’s image once more.
“I dont know about this one…”
“Oh come now Benny. Our little ones havent had a proper playmate before. Sure she's a little…homely, but she must be good company if they want her around without wanting to behead her!”
The children’s eyes lit up a little when their motherly figure agreed with them on this. They knew she would always support them, even if Father questioned their choices.
“She is, mother. She is kind, and she does not ridicule us. She is inquisitive about our technology and finds us interesting.”
Then Bruce, Constance, Alessandra, and David pointed at Lenny with a wide grin. It startled Father a little as the five of them rarely broke synchronization.
“And Lenny has a crush on her.” Lenny’s eyes widened as his siblings gave away his secret. His cheeks burned red underneath his iconic helmet.
“H-Hey, you guys said you wouldn't tell!”
“We lied.”
“Wha- crush-” Father began only to be cut off by Carol again.
“A CRUSH?!” She gasped. She grinned and scooped Lenny up into her arms.
“Oh my little boy has his first crush! That's so adorable!”
Lenny let out a choked whimper as Carol crushed him in her embrace.
“M-Mother it's just a silly crush, nothing to get riled up over-”
“Nonsense! It's such a big milestone for my sweet boy! Oh she’d be so lucky to have such a brilliant boy like you.” Lenny’s cheeks burned as he simply glared at his siblings.
‘You will all pay dearly for this!’ He hissed at them through their shared hivemind.
The four simply smirked at him. Let him try, Alessandra would just give him the world’s worst dead arm.
“N-Now wait for just a moment! You can’t just, her?!” Father’s short temper simmered, smoke wafting off of him. For a moment Lenny flinched back and cowered in Carol’s arms, but then got a steely look about him.
“...We care for her Father….I…I care for her.” It was rare to use “I” instead of “we”, but he meant it.
God help him he cared about Circe Sinclair.
“Now Ben-” Carol began, just to get cut off by Father’s angry ranting.
“She's revolting! Rambunctious, ill mannered! Doesn't know her place!” He shot up from his seat, his hands flying up in anger. Flames shot off his form, licking the ceiling in his rage.
“Shes unfit for a Wigglestein! No son of mine-” But then those words sent him tumbling back to childhood.
An innocent time where he once had a friend. He hadn't cared that their relationship was manufactured, a product of a betrothal to give Pappy more power. He just cared that he had someone who loved him unconditionally.
Back to a time where his dear Persephone’s father told him the same things.
That boy is unfit for a Sinclair. He’s weak. A crybaby. Can't even throw a damn punch. He’ll just hold her back.
No daughter of mine will ever marry such a waste of space.
Thats what he had told his Pappy. In a day he had lost his cherished friend, all because one man thought he was unfit for her.
For a time Father stared off into space with wide eyes. Sweat rolled down Lenny’s forehead a little, but he kept his resolve by staring down his father.
“...God I sound just like him, don’t I?” Father broke the silence with a soft sigh. He tiredly trailed a hand down his face. All his bluster, all his firepower dimmed just as quickly as it had boiled over. He slumped down in his seat and held his face in his hand.
God help him he sounded just like the man who ripped him from his first love, his first friend. And now he was on the verge of doing the same to his own son. What was wrong with him?
How could he veen for a moment think about inflicting that same pain onto his delightful children? The apple’s of his eye?
“...Father?” He was broken out of his thoughts by Lenny’s voice. When he moved his hand away he saw Carol holding his five children close. Her teeth were slightly barred, her eyes giving him this warning glare. She loved her husband with all her heart, but if there was anything she loved more it was their children. In that moment if it came down to choosing between them or him, she’d pick them in a heartbeat.
Thankfully Father didnt make her need to choose. Father reached out towards the Delightful Children, only to yank his hand back when he saw them flinch.
He stared at his family for a moment before his suit slowly retreated from his body. It was rare for the children to see him without the iconic fire suit, but right now he wanted them to see that he was safe.
He never wanted to see them flinch to his touch, ever.
He’d never be like that man. He’d never be like his pappy.
The gesture at least made Carol calm down a little, her teeth no longer barred at him.
“...I’m…sorry for losing my temper, my children, I-...” He took a small shaky breath. He cleared his throat, trying to will away the lump that had suddenly built up.
“...I’m just worried is all. Circe she…she is affiliated with those pesky kids next door. You loathe them. I loathe them, and to hear that you want to be friends with someone who is in league with them-”
“She is kind, Father…she listens to us. She doesn't judge us. She isn't cruel for the sake of being cruel. We are able to indulge in our interests with her…we enjoy her company Father.” The five of them made their case once more, making one thing inherently clear. Circe was their friend already, no matter her affiliation.
“...And..she makes you happy?” He slowly asked. They nodded their heads in sync.
“Very.”
“...Oh…You know I can never deny you even the simplest of pleasures.” He sighed and took a small drag from his pipe to soothe his nerves.
Their eyes brightened once more.
“Does that mean we may be her friend?” They asked.
Carol’s gaze softened as she loosened her hold on her kids. Now that it was clear Father wasn't a threat, they could have a proper discussion about this topic.
“You know this will be good for them, Benny. They need a confidant, someone outside villainy. You and I know very well that the villain world can be a lonely one filled with nothing but sycophants and back stabbers.”
“I know, I know that!...Yes, my children. You may…You may have Circe Sinclair as a friend.” He relented with a sigh. He loathed that child…but he loved his children more than he despised her.
His children were more than delighted, lunging forward to throw their arms around him.
“Thank you Father! Thank you, thank you!” This was better than Christmas and their birthdays combined! They finally had a friend with Father’s approval!
Father stiffened at first before wrapping his arms around all five of them.
“But, you have to remember not to let this get in the way of our plans! You can’t go easy on her just because she’s your friend, understand? And you will all make sure she isn't just using you to get to me.”
“We understand Father! We will beat her back when needed, we won’t give her mercy in battle! We’ll interrogate her thoroughly to ensure she isn't just using us!”
Father’s hands traveled from child to child, ruffling their perfect hair.
“That's my children.”
Carol smiled softly at the scene and joined them, wrapping her arms and tail securely around both Father and their children. She had been a little miffed that he lost his temper at them, but she ultimately couldn't stay mad at her Ben. He apologized, and he heard them out. That's what mattered most.
“Alright, anything else before you all have to go to bed?” She cooed to them.
“We wish to attend a party at her house this Saturday, please.”
“A party?” Father couldn't help but cringe at that.
That meant calling Persephone to ask. She’d left him her number when they first reconnected, but…he just never had the heart to try and talk to her more despite her finally being back in his life again.
The wounds inflicted on them both were everlasting despite being decades old by now. Could he bear to hear from her again? Could he bear sitting in the same environment together again?
“Please, Father. We’ll do more chores, we’ll hospitalize thirty KND operatives if that's what it takes to earn the privilege.” They gave him their best puppy eyes they could muster. If it didn't convince them, then at least it could convince Carol.
“Ben, just look at them! You’ll be breaking their hearts if you say no!”
“Alright alright! Don't give me that look. Make it twenty KND operatives and you can go.”
“Thank you Father!”
The sight of his children in such good spirits helped to ease Father’s nerves. He could brave finally calling Persephone if it made his darlings happy.
Perhaps this was a good opportunity for him as well…Carol was always hounding him to make some non villain friends, and Persephone was the perfect candidate as his childhood best friend/sweetheart.
Maybe they couldn't be the same as they were as kids…but maybe they could at least be close again as adults.
