mikesys headcanons (part one: mal)

TW: self-harm, physical and sexual abuse

before we start, i want to make it clear that im not going too into detail about the trauma they all faced. i am not an expert on did, and i dont want to accidentally be offensive. if any of my headcanons offend you (as a system), a system you know, or if it’s just extremely unrealistic and you’re a professional, please tell me! i want to make this as realistic as possible. obviously it’s never going to be super realistic but i want to try to give them better representation as a system and as individual alters. now, headcanon time!!

- first to form

- aroace, he/him but he doesn’t really care

- persecutor, former host, trauma holder

- he was extremely overprotective of mike. because they were the first two, mike was the only one mal felt comfortable around and vice versa. this overprotectiveness became unhealthy though, and it ends up contributing to something else in the story (im debating the contribution, but there are quotes in the show that kind of imply that they used to get along). whenever other alters would come by, he’d pretend to despise mike and would actively hurt him to make himself look more threatening to the others.

- thinks he hates mike after they have a falling out, never does. he will always love mike (platonically) and he will always end up protecting him

- he has long hair and he loves it

- emo (not in a “CUT MOY LOIFE INTEW PEYSES” type of way (even though i like that song), he grew up in the 2000s and loved dressing emo and listening to emo/screamo music).

- often self-harms to both sabotage the others and to create more pain for himself so that he has more control over what he feels than his abuser (his father)

- took up vent art about nine years after forming, often it’s just scribbles but he has artistic talent

- he isn’t small and skinny in the headspace because i reckon their brain needed someone strong and intimidating to stand up to their abuser. he wouldnt be grest at maintaining a strong looking build….. he’s not a bodybuilder though; he’s only sixteen and probably wouldn’t care much about his body. that’s just how he formed.

- subconsciously hates himself for what he said to mike in the past but outwardly blames mike

- in juvie, if someone was a r@pist or sexually harassed someone, he’d take it into his own hands to give them hell, which is why everyone was scared of him. dont think of him as a vigilante though; he never saved anyone from physical harm, he just doesn’t tolerate sexual violence. he would never let that happen to anyone because he experienced it himself and it was torture (that’s not even a hyperbole at this point). hes not a sexual protector. he didn’t face the brunt of it, a different alter did

- he is not good. ive made him sound like an angel. HE IS NOT AN ANGEL. he’s at best morally grey but id say hes leaning towards bad. he did unhealthy shit to himself and to the others, bullied the other alters and threatened them if they stood up to him, never socialised with them, enjoyed (and still enjoys) seeing people get hurt, actively watched gore, loved it, and didn’t find any reason not to, and violence was his only solution to anything. he is not a small baby boy who has done nothing wrong, but he’s also not satan. he hurt people, mike by pretending to detest him, vito for comparing his hypersexuality to their abuser, svetlana by dismissing her as “useless”, manitoba by implying he had no trauma, and chester by constantly treating him like a senile old raisin, but all in all, he is a mentally ill 16 year old. he also nearly killed gwen and cam and i don’t know how they’d relate to his father, i think he was just bored.
