*spins a roulette wheel of total drama characters*
let’s see which character we’re fixing for FreshTV today
*throws a knife*...and the winner is Duncan!
So before Duncan went to juvie, he spent a lot of time in and out of group homes and different facilities (so his dad didn’t have to worry about him being around and ruining his reputation)
And in these group homes and facilities, he was introduced to several different forms of therapy and group therapy and one of these being art therapy.
It was during art therapy at one of the facilities he stayed in when he was 13 that he picked up making pottery.
With pottery, it didn’t have to be perfect. Duncan didn’t have to follow millions of rules. The ball of clay was his to control, his to make into whatever he wanted, even if it was ugly or didn’t have a purpose.
Duncan made an ugly little ashtray for his dad when he first got into pottery and when he left the facility, he brought home the ashtray to show his dad.
His dad wasn’t pleased.
In short, he called it a waste of time and a waste of money to send Duncan there to learn some discipline just to come home with a useless hunk of clay. (His mom kept the ashtray. It’s been in her nightstand drawer since the day Duncan brought it home. She takes it out and holds it some days when she thinks about how Duncan’s doing wherever he is.)
Duncan never brought home another piece of pottery after that, but he continued making it whenever it was offered.
He stopped making pottery after he went to juvie just after he turned 16.
After his stint in prison after All Stars, Duncan called DJ and Geoff (who got an apartment together while Duncan was away) and asked for help (he knew his parents wouldn’t let him come back home).
They picked Duncan up on his release date and held a small party for him at their apartment.
Geoff helped Duncan get a job at the landscaping company he worked at; DJ helped him with applications to community colleges and vocational schools.
Around 6 months after Duncan moved in, he finally got an acceptance letter to the local community college.
When Duncan started his classes, he noticed a flyer advertising a pottery class at his college every other Thursday night.
The first things he made in the class were a clay jar for DJ to hold his wooden cooking untensils in and a mug shaped like a cowboy hat for Geoff.
When Duncan brought them home, both DJ and Geoff cried and said they were beautiful (the jar was lumpy and the mug looked nothing like a cowboy hat, but they were so happy that Duncan thought of them in the first place that they couldn’t care less).
After taking the class for a few months, he finally made something that looked “presentable” (he liked everything he made but he knew that they didn’t look great, he didn’t care); it was a serving bowl that he was originally going to give to DJ because Bridgette accidentally broke his last one when she was helping him reorganize the cabinets.
Duncan sent it to his parents house instead with a note that said “Dear Mom and Dad, I’m doing fine”. His mom cried; she hadn’t heard from him since his release. She sent him back a letter telling him that she still loved him and that she loved the dish he sent and that he can come home if he ever needs to. Geoff and DJ held him as he cried (he wants to see his mom so badly, he wants to prove his dad wrong so badly, but he knows he’s not ready for that yet)
Every now and again, Duncan will send his mom something new he makes in his class; he sends her letters with them sometimes letting her know that he’s still doing alright.
the absolute goddess just sashayed in
All stars freaking ruined Sierra and her character development
Oh my god I cannot even explain how much I hate all stars! In the end of world tour, Sierra’s character development is clearly established and her obsession with Cody dies down. But then in AS they completely throw all that away??? Whyyy! It angers me so much because Sierra means so much to me (comfort character tings) and her entire potential is completely thrown out the window in AS
i just joined the fandom again after 5 million years what the fuck do you mean noco is dead
Duarte, june 2017.
currently working on an update where there’s some freak nasty, nasty freak type stuff and i needed some inspiration. i have a playlist of smut music that has a LOT of SWV music, simply because they’re so talented and nasty at the same time lol. found this (unofficial) remix to Downtown forever ago on YouTube and i usually have it on repeat while writing smut - this was also featured in Rescue Me (Chapter 10).
thought i’d share!! expect an update this week (hopefully) ;D
