im rereading ita and honestly there’s no point to Cole’s death. The entire thing just gets overshadowed by everyone hoping it’s not Liam, being mad at Clancy, and worrying about Ruby.

I know they didn’t leave any on Clancy because he was the Presidents son and people would notice. But also I don’t think they wanted to leave scars on the other kids in case they escaped, so they couldn’t accuse Gray of anything.
