Give me your darkest minds playlists
I'm looking to add to my Darkest Minds playlist! Give me some songs you have on yours and why they're on there! Please, I beg!
I'm rewatching Darkest Minds and I don't understand why they cut the whole "Makout" moment with Clancy and Ruby, when he enters her mind, etc. So, the sexual assault. Whereas in the movie, he just laid her on the bed? I don't understand the change. What's the point? To prevent people from "romanticizing" it? When the whole point in the book is to show the depth of the assault? It even seems to me that in the book there's a constant question of "Did Clancy do more than just kiss Ruby while controlling her?" since Ruby's mind is always hazy after the event. The scene in the movie is so... simplified and bland? Or did they want to avoid shocking people? But the point of that scene is to show how twisted Clancy is! Moreover, this event becomes essentially the central aspect of their entire relationship. And that's what makes it psychologically very profound and ironically interesting. By drastically shortening this scene, the heart of their relationship is ruined from a narrative standpoint.
Clancy is honestly giving a few good points at the moment.
The whole speech that Ruby and her powers are one and that she shouldn't change just because people are scared of her.
Jack Wolfe as a fancast for Clancy Gray just popped into my mind while I was reading tdm and I dont hate it
"Now isn't the time to change yourself to fit into the world" - in the afterlight
clancy gray ( the darkest minds ) x fem-aligned reader. no use of y/n, but use of “sweetheart.”
you had felt clancy gray’s eyes on you from the second you had been introduced to him. you would turn, and he’d be there. observing.
it was sort of unnerving at first. knowing that the eyes of the renowned slip kid were constantly on you, and only you. the only time they weren’t was when he was pulled away to his duties, or when you were pulled away to yours.
at dinner, it was much more awkward. you sat quietly on one of the makeshift seats, bowl in your hands. before you could take a bite, you felt his eyes. again.
you turned your head to see where he was watching you from. he was closer than you thought he’d be, and that made you jump. his mouth quirked upward at that.
“hey, sweetheart.” his tone was simple, conversational.
“uhm.. hi, clancy.” you say awkwardly. his eyes didn’t make you feel as anxious as they had awhile ago. now they made you feel a sense of slight comfort. knowing someone was pretty much always watching your back.
“shame we haven’t been able to talk too much, hm? i mean.. you’ve been here for a few weeks now.”
“you could just come up to me. i feel you always staring.” you immediately realized how rude you sounded the second the words left your mouth.
“oh? then why haven’t you approached me to ask about it?” he grinned at you.
“figured that’d be rude.” you say honestly.
“i wouldn’t have found it rude at all, sweetheart. taking initiative isn’t rude,” he hummed, watching your face.
“you think so?” you questioned.
“of course.” he extended a hand to you. “come with me. back to my room.”
what? “is this you taking initiative?” you snort half-heartedly, not actually expecting a genuine answer.
“obviously. you gonna take my hand or what, sweetheart?” he quirked a brow.
“..fine.” you sighed out, letting your own hand fall into his.
he slid his fingers around yours, lacing them together. “that’s better. you can come eat in my room.. i won’t mind. then we can finally talk.”
“for real?” you laughed.
“for real,” he affirmed, nudging you. “let’s go.”
you followed after him, a stupid smile on your face.
did anyone else imagine clancy as the kid from young sheldon?
