okay okay okay. So we all know that Erza taught Natsu to read and write. I personally like to think he could already just not whatever language was used in the present which is why he struggled. And that little scene is played off as a joke.

I think it goes deeper than that. We don't see anyone else offering to help him learn, in fact everyone makes fun of him for it. It's only Erza who steps up and offers to teach him, no matter how terrifying that process was.

The is, Erza never learned to read or write herself. Not well anyway. She grew up in a cult as a child slave. They would've had no incentive to teach their captives to read and write. If anything they would've had incentive to not teach them. If they can't read of write that means they become somewhat dependent on their captors.

So when Erza joined the guild and got a new eye she probably had to learn herself. And then comes along another little boy who never learned and she doesn't feel any need to make fun of him for his lack of knowledge. In fact I bet she felt a sense of kinship in him and offered to help him how others helped her.

Just Erza seeing a slightly feral Natsu and claiming him there and then is just heartwarming.

Okay another Tea headcanon thingy.

Natsu's scarf.

We all know it we've all seen it.

We know it's made of dragon scales, Igneel's specifically and originally it was believed that Igneel was the one who created it.

Only for it to then be confirmed that it wasn't actually him but one Anna Heartfilia who made the scarf for Natsu.

The thing is why would Anna only make Natsu a scarf and not the other dragon slayers. We know that she looked after all of them and cared for them with their dragon parents so why only Natsu.

Now here's where the headcanon comes in to play.

I believe Anna made Natsu a scarf out of Igneel's scales because she was asked to, by Zeref.

Now you may be wondering why? Why would Zeref ask he to do this. Now a couple of things. We see in Tenrou that Natsu's scarf protected him from Zeref's curse, effectively nullifying it and keeping Natsu safe. We also know that Zeref is fully aware that he can't defeat Acnologia, now why is this? Because Acnologia is a dragon and as a result I believe is highly resistant if not immune to magical effects. It wouldn't surprise me if all dragons are somewhat resistant or immune to Zeref's curse.

So Zeref with a newly revived Natsu and unable to even be near him without fear that he'd undo all the hard work he'd put in to bring him back, goes to his dear friends asks for their help to make something out of dragon scales, in the hope that should the worst ever happen and Natsu were to get caught in Zeref's curse then he would still be safe.

So his scarf turning black was it doing it's job. It was supposed to do that to protect him!

So I just had an interesting thought about Lucy and her choice of clothing.

So we all know that Lucy wears quite revealing clothes and I can't help but feel like that's intentional on her part. Like how many times did she grow up being told to act a lady and being given clothes to wear that she didn't like and essentially being told to suck it up because she was a lady.

We all saw the clothes she was forced into when she got back to her father's manor, they weren't revealing in the slightest. They were modest and the clothes of a high born lady. In an act of defiance she tears the clothes apart leaving her in her underwear, which likely would've been quite scandalous for some of her status to be caught doing.

So I feel like Lucy's choice of clothing is a way for her to distance herself from her past while accepting the person she's become. I've no doubt that she had a secret stash of clothes like what we see her wearing that she worse whenever she could just to get a feeling of independence.

So yeh I've been having thoughts about Lucy and clothing.

Just thinking about Lucy and money.

So one continuous gad we see throughout Fairytail is Lucy's need for money, specifically rent money.

Now we know from after the Tenrou arc that Lucy actually has a significantly lower rent than the rest of the women in the guild who live in Fairy Hills (I'm still a little annoyed we never see the boy's equivalent but that's a rant for a different day). Not only that but we never hear anyone else complain about not having enough money for rent or utilities.

Now my headcanon is that Lucy is bad with money because of her upbringing as an wealthy heiress. Throughout all the snippets of her childhood we see that she rarely wanted for anything material, all of her physical needs were met to a very high standard. As such, at least in the beginning of her career as a guild wizard, she likely has a very high standard of quality in the things she buys. Not only that but she likely also has never even heard of budgeting before.

Now we do see her haggling with shopkeepers to get lower prices (with varying degrees of success) which shows that she at least has some idea about saving money. However, I think she is still prone to overspending and making frivolous purchases.

I don't think Erza constantly wears her armour because she wants to, but because she feels like she has to.

Let me explain. Our first introduction to Erza is an armour clad warrior that is strong and commanding. This image continues throughout the first few arcs, until we get to the tower of heaven.

We see Erza changing to go down to the casino at the very beginning of the arc and she takes a moment to admire herself in the mirror but then confesses that she feels better while wearing her armour. I think the mental scars from the tower have left her feeling insecure and naked when not wearing any protection or at least not feeling prepared in some way.

One could argue that her requip magic ensures that she's always in a state of readiness for any occasion.

I think Erza much prefers to be a soft individual, we see her love for more traditionally feminine things how she loves dressing in pretty gowns and attending fancy parties. She loves sweets and cooking and baking. I think she likes the idea of being a homebody and dressing nice but it leaves her feeling anxious whenever she does indulge in that feeling.

The tower hardened her to the point that when she does show her softer side, as much as she enjoys it, she becomes uncomfortable because she feels like she can't protect herself or her friends if anything were to happen.

I fully believe that as children they definitely screwed around with what Natsu could or couldn't eat.

Like you don't just find out that your newest member can casually eat fire and gain sustenance from it and just brush that off. I can imagine them doing entire sessions where they just handed him random things and asking him if he could eat it.

I'm talking, rocks, glass, mugs, part of a table... the walls. How many times did Natsu go crawling to Porlyusica because he ate something he really shouldn't've. He is definitely on her shit list for the stunts he pulled as a kid. No wonder he finds her terrifying.

Okay so one thing I've been thinking of... is Natsu affected by bane particles? we know that on some level he's human right? on the other hand he's also an etherious and they aren't affected by bane particles, in fact if anything it's actually good for them.

I don't think we ever see Natsu interacting with bane particles either so we never get any confirmation either.

My own headcanon is that in large quantities it's harmful, as in it would make him sick, but not deadly. In small doses however it would actually be quite helpful as it would energise his etherious side and allow him to recover energy quicker.

I dunno I think I'm rambling at this point. I just like the idea of some enemy trapping him and his team and monologuing how they're going to kill them all with bane particle poisoning only for Natsu to shrug it off and beat them.

Okay another weird idea from Tea here.

So we know that the exceeds come from Edolas right? and that in Edolas there are alternate versions of everyone, I'd argue every living thing in fact.

One thing that cropt up to me recently is that would there be Earthland versions of Happy and the other exceeds.

We've already seen the Edolas version of Ichiya, who is in fact an exceed. Which leads me to believe that the exceeds actually all have Earthland counterparts.

What would Happy's Earthland counter part be? We know that Happy is friendly, cheeky, and extremely loyal. Which makes me think that his counterpart would be a rather dour and standoffish person who has a habit of turning on his friends or companions at the drop of a hat.

Now let's look at the other Fairytail exceeds.

Charla is a very serious and mature person, so likely her counterpart would be quite meek and childish. Let's not forget the fact that she cares a great deal for her friends so her counterpart would likely not be very friendly at all or at the very least would be quite two-faced in her interactions.

The we have Pantherlily. He's a very courageous and strong individual. While Pantherlily is afraid of lightning and thunder, he still faces his fears to help his friends. This means his counterpart would be the furthest thing from a warrior at all, likely a small wiry scholarly type would is afraid of his own shadow.

Honestly I'm so glad I got this off my chest, I'd love to hear if anyone has any alternate ideas for the exceeds :3
