“That’s part of the fun!” Henry exclaimed, up to his elbows in the pumpkin pulp as he prepared his pumpkin for carving. But, if Jefferson really didn’t like pumpkin innards … a mischievious smirk appeared on his face, and Henry hid it from Jefferson by facing the pumpkin. The man couldn’t suspect his next action, after all. “It’s not that bad.” He’d wait until Jefferson was off guard before innitiating his plot. Hopefully, the man wouldn’t suspect Henry was planning on giving him a hat. A very slimy hat.

As Emma gave another twist in the cuffs she yet again reprimanded herself for even placing this bet. Part of her blamed it on the heat of the moment, another on her ego. Either way she was going to follow through on her word, which Jefferson seemed to have no issue of holding her to after he’d greeted her with the handcuffs minutes ago. This whole waiting game with him was doing its purpose too, driving her nerves higher as she tried to resist the urge to pick her way out of the cuffs.

"I don't care what people say when we're together."

Emma rolled her eyes.  “And you think I care what people say suddenly?  Come on, I think we know enough about each other than nothing anyone tries to say for shock value will really be news.  I just like things better when I don’t have to deal with other people butting in.”  It was hard enough not to hit her parents when they had something to say about Jefferson.  She gratefully didn’t have to deal with people she’d known before coming to town to toss her big mistakes out like news.

“Hey, Jefferson. We need to talk,” Henry said, trying very, very hard to sound like an adult, and not like the kid he was. He’d heard that Jefferson and his mom had crushes on each other, though, and he needed to find out if that was true. And make sure Jefferson was going to be nice to Emma. Henry’s mom had been through a lot, and the last thing she needed was a bad boyfriend. Not that Henry thought Jefferson would be a bad boyfriend, he really liked the man. Still, he had to make extra sure, for Emma.
